We recently bought a new construction house done by LuAnn Development - looks nice in a walkthrough but we are finding all sorts of issues as we settle in. The cabinet work was done poorly (including sharp nails handing inside cabinet) where we have to hire a sperate cabinet company and pay thousands just to fix the current work, the plumbing work was bad (including no cold water coming out in one of the showers) so again we had to hire plumber just to fix the work, electrical work was mediocre at best, among others. I don’t know how much they are involved in all this but at least as the general contractor, they should make sure who they contract do the right work and oversea and quality control all these. I wouldn’t recommend this company.

We HIGHLY recommend LuAnn to anyone who is considering building a custom home, especially if you are doing it for the first time and are devoting a substantial amount of your hard earned savings for your dream home, as it was the case for us. In retrospect, there were two critical factors that ensured the orderly and successful completion of our house. First and foremost, we were most fortunate to have found LuAnn as our general contractor. LuAnn is a person of very high integrity and honesty, which, needless to say, is essential when one’s lifetime savings is at stake. We have heard several horror stories from our friends who have had many sleepless nights, delays, and major cost overruns when they had their custom homes built. We were fortunate to avert those horror stories and kept our stresses to a minimum because of LuAnn and her team. LuAnn has many years of experience in building and managing custom homes, both as a project manager and as a GC. Specifically, she provides design consultation as an integral part of her services; she surrounds herself with a team of reliable and quality subcontractors; and she is not afraid to put her foot down when the need arises. The second factor, equally critical as the first, was LuAnn’s wise managerial decision to assign a top notch project manager, Raul Valles, to oversee our construction process: Raul grew up with hands-on experience in framing, which is the backbone of a house, has many years of experience in construction. He is extremely organized, and makes a point of documenting all the decisions throughout the building process. He impressed us as a straight shooter, very responsible, and a consummate professional. Last but not least, he possesses an unrelenting attention to details. We were truly fortunate and grateful to have had LuAnn as our GC. Her integrity, experience, ability to attract highly professional project managers, and a willingness to delegate is a testament to her managerial and leadership skills. We recommend her highly.

LuAnn and her team did an excellent job with my renovation project! The property I inherited was neglected since the 50's, and LuAnn was able to transform it into a modern dream. Honest, organized, and quality work!

We just finished our first collaboration with LuAnn and Dominic and it was a very positive experience. They were hired by our client to build a large, high-end, highly detailed (inside and out) custom home in Manhattan Beach. With respect to both the architectural and interior design detailing, Ali and I found their whole team nice and easy to work with. They asked good, smart questions during construction and followed through on the detailing and craftsmanship. What sets them apart is that they truly care about the quality of the finished product and build with a good attitude and a discerning eye. We look forward to working with them again and that's saying a lot because we are SUPER picky about who we refer to our clients.

In August 2015 we purchased our first home after finding out that we had a baby on the way. We hired LuAnn and her teams to help remodel our home (property brothers style) so that we could move in before the baby arrived. The scope of work was extensive and they were able to take our vision of what we wanted and make it a reality. We started with the kitchen, completely transforming an 80's disaster into an open concept chef's galley. We took the kitchen down to the studs, raised the ceilings by a foot, knocked out the peninsula to create a single flowing space to the dining room. LuAnn's team is incredible - they were able to take our descriptions and photos and help to guide us towards what was possible, and also what was the best choice economically for the size of our home. When we came in below budget on our appliances they mentioned that the savings could be used to raise the ceilings an additional foot - an easy choice. The master bathroom was cramped with a single sink, two door concept for guests to access if you were hosting a party. They were able to expand the bathroom to create a separate toilet area, added double sinks and widened the shower by an additional foot since the home previously wasted space for the furnace. The end result is incredible; it could not have been closer to what we originally envisioned when we started. To provide guests with a bathroom we built an additional powder bathroom in what originally was empty air, a balcony from the second floor overlooking the front door. This project required the use of structural engineers, electricians, plumbers, permits, etc. LuAnn and her team handled all of that for us. Terry, Dominic, Sergio and Juan created an incredible space for our guests to use when they come over without having to run into the master bedroom. The master bedroom was large but didn't have enough closet space for two people so we built a large walk-in closet that could not have turned out better. It's hard to explain the quality of work that they performed. It is perfect. The home literally is a physical manifestation of what we dreamed. When we first started we didn't know what was possible or what it should/would cost. They take pride in their work and everyone was extremely sensitive to the fact that we had a baby on the way. Every choice, every nuance, they pointed out things like "you won't want to have that with a baby.." Or "those types of doors would look nice but you would be able to take advantage of the ocean breezes.." If you're on the fence with regards to hiring LuAnn it's an easy recommendation from us. You will pay for peace of mind and quality of work, and I'm perfectly fine with that. We probably could have hired someone to do it cheaper but we wanted to make sure that we got exactly what we wanted, and we did. Every single project that they performed for us we knew that it would be done correctly and with an amazing quality and that assurance is worth a lot to someone who had a baby on the way. This company has made my construction experience almost effortless, very few hiccups. A year later, I have a beautiful house that surely has tripled in value. My friends have commented on how well I have managed balancing my stressful life with work, family and an extensive remodel. The secret was the professional relationship with LuAnn and Terry. They are honest with great work ethics. They were respectful of my budget, time and ignorance. They were available almost 24/7 with my annoying questions. They updated the working budget on a timely manner and allowed me to compare various bids. They provided timelines and a summary of what to expect. They guided me through decision options, troubleshooted hurdles and understood my goals and taste. In the end, I have an amazing dream home that I can comfortably share with family and friends.

We hired LuAnn and her team to remodel the first floor add a second floor. This included a big kitchen with a walk-in pantry, adding a master bedroom, master bathroom, a great room that has a 12' bar with a dumbwaiter into the kitchen, a pool table and big TV area with a large stone fireplace, half bath, laundry room with a laundry shoot from the walk-in closet, covered front porch and 2 decks & a large party main deck. Custom cabinetry through out the house. We have been very happy with the way it has turned out. We have been wishing and thinking about this for the last 25 years. After interviewing several design firms and general contractors, we decided to go with LuAnn Development to oversee a major remodel of our home. We chose LuAnn because she has a great eye for design, was reasonably priced and felt most comfortable with her. She developed a detailed budget and a realistic time line for our remodel based on our wish list. LuAnn also helped us make some difficult design decision. Our project head, Christina was very pleasant to work with. Both she and LuAnn were very responsive to our questions and gave us weekly updates on the progress of the project. Any issues that arose during the project were dealt with quickly and professionally. The subcontractors were pleasant to work with and we were impressed with the quality of their work. Our remodel finished on time and under budget. Most importantly, our house turned out BEAUTIFUL! We would use LuAnn and her crew again and would definitely recommend them to anyone planning a remodel.

We hired LuAnn Development to oversee a major remodel of our house. The team and their sub-contractors were very professional and dependable. There was transparency and organization throughout the process and they were able to finish the job on schedule. As for the work the team takes a lot of pride in their work and the quality throughout is noticeable. Every job has obstacles and the key is how well a company deals with these adversities. My husband and I had the wonderful opportunity to work with LuAnn and her team on a remodel. I had always loved her work on custom homes and hoped she’d help give a face lift to our little beach house. When we first met her we knew she was the perfect fit for us both personally and professionally. LuAnn was always available and really helped guide us through the remodel process. LuAnn Development was recommended to me by my real estate broker. I was looking at remodeling my kitchen and had already had an initial meeting with LuAnn when we had a major plumbing leak on the ground floor of our home. It was then that I decided to have LuAnn Development not only do a complete remodel of my kitchen, but also manage the repair work on the downstairs of the home as well. LuAnn was great! She understood what we were looking for and was able to direct me to good resources when I needed to go select items for the home. She also helped to guide me on the selection of some of the bigger ticket items however, never imposing her own tastes, just identifying the things I should consider when making a decision. I was able to design the new kitchen just with her help - no decorator! All the while she was very professional in her dealings with my insurance adjuster and in the negotiations with him on the estimates of the repair work. LuAnn's contractors were all quite prompt, friendly, thorough, and cleaned up after themselves.
