Replacing the driveway allowed us to redesign the entire front yard instead of simply removing old concrete. We widened the driveway, added a new walkway, installed fresh landscaping, and rebuilt the planter borders at the same time. The sections work much better with the front of the home, and parking is far more convenient than before. Everything lines up cleanly, right down to the transitions between the driveway, walkway, and landscape areas.

Our home sits above a valley, so we wanted an infinity pool that made the view part of the backyard. Their crew spent time working through the layout before construction began, making sure the pool lined up with the patio, the outdoor living area, and the view from inside the home. Building the pool required excavation, retaining walls, reinforced concrete, waterproofing, plumbing, drainage, and the overflow system before the finish materials were installed. Every stage followed the one before it, and we always knew what was scheduled next. Friends usually walk straight to the edge the first time they visit. The view has always been there, but the pool gives us a completely different way to enjoy it every day.

We wanted to turn our backyard into a space that worked for everyday use as well as family get-togethers, so we planned everything as one project instead of tackling it in stages. The scope included a large paver patio, a patio cover attached to the home, an outdoor kitchen with a built-in BBQ, landscape lighting, and new planting beds around the perimeter. Magnolia Outdoors coordinated every part of the construction, including the permits for the patio cover, so everything stayed on schedule. The pavers extend naturally from the back of the home to the BBQ area, and every feature fits where it belongs. Looking across the backyard, it’s obvious the entire project was designed as one complete outdoor living area.

The original pool came with the home, and honestly looked like it hadn’t been updated in decades. The tile was old, the coping was worn out, and the shallow end wasn’t very useful. We decided on a full pool remodel rather than continuing to make small repairs every year. Once demolition started, several old plumbing lines were found to be in poor condition, so those were replaced before the new finishes went in. We also expanded part of the deck and added a Baja shelf that gets used far more than we expected. One thing I appreciated was that nobody rushed decisions. We had time to compare materials and make changes before work moved forward. The backyard finally looks better without losing the character of the original pool.

Settling on the right layout between the kids and us took longer than expected because we wanted room for both swimming and entertaining without sacrificing the entire backyard. Looking back, the planning stage probably mattered more than anything else. The pool's layout fits the property naturally and doesn’t look like an afterthought.

The backyard was designed around a paver patio with a dedicated fire pit area and surrounding seating. The layout keeps the fire pit as a central feature while allowing enough room for movement and additional seating. The pavers extend across the entire patio and connect to a walkway along the side of the yard. The fire pit fits comfortably within the space without overwhelming the layout. It’s a setup that works well year-round and gives the yard a clear purpose.

The view from our property was the main reason we chose an infinity pool design. The backyard sits on a hillside, so extensive grading, retaining walls, and soil stabilization had to be completed before excavation for the pool could begin. Watching the structural phase come together was honestly impressive. Steel reinforcement covered almost the entire excavation area before the shell was formed, and a lot of detail went into leveling the infinity edge correctly. The construction also included a raised spa, porcelain decking, custom lighting, and upgraded drainage systems throughout the property. One thing we appreciated throughout the process was that inspections and scheduling never became chaotic. Every stage moved in sequence without long periods where work stopped unexpectedly. The final pool completely changed the backyard's atmosphere at night once the edge lighting and water features were running.
