Mark Hovis Designs

We heard about Mark through a friend and contacted him to review and rewrite some plans that we had been looking at, though weren’t really satisfied with. We were in the beginning discussion and preparation of building a new home and were beginning to get anxious about not having a plan that was what we were looking for. I contacted Mark and made arrangements to meet with him, and I appreciated the fact that he was able to work a meeting with me into his schedule on short notice and was willing to drive a couple of hours to meet me at our future building site. We did hire Mark to draw up plans for our project and, over the next few months, we met several times to work on them. I want to add that Mark was very patient and easy to work with and was willing to meet as many times as was necessary to arrive at a plan that was what we were looking for. We were more than pleased with the end result as the plan and subsequent building project went smoothly and ended up just we had envisioned - even better.

We hired Hovis Designs to build our “forever home” and gave a very rough sketch of our dream on a piece of notebook paper. From there, he brought the dream to fruition! He did a remarkable job in an extremely reasonable amount of time. We would absolutely call Hovis Designs in the event we ever build a second “forever home”!

Mark is a true professional in his designing career. He is friendly and personable. He listens to the vision of his clients and creates a design that is even closer to what you really wanted than what you originally imagined. He is very thorough and detail oriented. A true pleasure to work with. I appreciate his work daily as I enjoy my new home!

We could not be more thrilled with our custom home by Mark Hovis. He took lots of time with us getting to know what we liked and wanted. Was open to my ideas and getting lot's of ideas from me. He nailed the exterior with just a few minor changes (couple of window sizes) on the first try. The interior he presented us with two options once which was absolutely perfect! I would recommend getting the 3D renderings especially for the exterior. This was HUGE help in picking out material, Mark was available to consult which was a big help as well. Be sure to give yourself and Mark lots of time to plan. You can't start the planning too soon!

After buying a 1960's ranch style home in 2000, we knew we wanted to make some changes. We started small and as money allowed, we completed many projects to update our home including a kitchen remodel, rear additions, exterior paint, etc. After transforming the interior or our home, we continued to be unhappy with our hidden, sunken front porch & felt the front of our home did not match the interior. We constantly toyed with the idea of doing something to it and even had some plans drawn up to change it a bit, but never went through with it as we still felt we would be unsatisfied with the outcome. That is until we found Mark Hovis! We met to discuss what we had in mind & I sent him several images from homes on pinterest & houzz that I liked. He was easily accessable and always available to discuss anything or answer questions. I remember where I was when Mark emailed me the preliminary mock ups of our home. I was blown away! I couldn't believe that we could make our 60's ranch into the images he had created. We ran with it, & we now feel the exterior of our home matches the interior and then some! We were completely satisfied with his work and highly recommend him!

We had a dream and a vision of a unique, contemporary home different from the typical homes in our area. After speaking with one architect, we worried that we wouldn't find someone who could share this vision. Then a friend referred us to Mark, and he made our dream a reality! He brought our vision to life! In addition to this talent, he was great to work with. As our home plans went through multiple revisions, and Mark went above and beyond to ensure we got everything we wanted. His computer imaging and detailed drawings helped us to really envision the final outcome. We LOVE our home, and we couldn't have done it without Mark!

We love Mark Hovis and his eye for design! He was very patient and able to put onto paper all the ideas that were in our head! His eye for detail (room sizes, garage layout, closet space, etc.) are appreciated in our day to day living! We have four children and usable space is of upmost importance to us. When looking at stock floor plans we couldn't find anything that included everything we wanted and needed without it being a massive size home. We realized quickly that we needed someone who could design a space specific to our needs where every square foot was usable. Mark was able to accomplish this and still stay in our square footage requirements! He was also very conscious of our budget and offered great design suggestions that would allow us to still accomplish the look we wanted without spending a fortune! Would love the opportunity to design another house with him. He made what can be a very draining process fun and exciting. Our builders commented multiple times that his architectural work made the process so much easier for them as well.

I have known Mark for many years. I own a truss manufacturing firm and see a lot of plans drawn by various plan designers. By far Mark Hovis is the best there is in our market area. If I ever run across a client in need of a set of plans for a house I first recommend Mark Hovis. I can tell you that his plans work. They have all the pertinent details you need. He gives way more detail on his plans then anyone else in this field. Mark comes with the highest recommendation!
