Mary has been an absolute pleasure to work with! We have been working together for about 5 months and she has completely transformed several of our rooms into rooms we could have never imagined. Her knowledge and expertise are beyond impressive and incredible, I often refer to her as “Magic Mary!” Mary is not only creative, she is flexible, reliable, confident, respectful, and kind. She helped us hire our amazing team who share the same values and work ethics. Mary goes above and beyond and has made our home renovation journey fun, rewarding, easy and as stress free as possible. Overall, we couldn’t be happier and we truly look forward to continuing to work with Mary!

I have worked with Mary for over 19 yrs... She designed our home back in 2001 ... Mary picked furniture, paint, rugs, drapes, fabric for chairs and the decor she picked was over the top....I have had more compliments over the years from her work... She is beyond amazing!! I continued to call Marty back to do updating and furniture replacing and paint color and decor... she always has phenomenal ideas and I never disagreed with her... to this day we still work together...She is always updating and giving great ideas... Mary really goes over and above for me... I have really trusted Mary to create these amazing ideas and I knew she basically was a genius. I honestly can say Mary made the process and design project so easy,, I will continue to have Mary to do her magic design!!! She to me is a 10 !!!

We hired Mary Schalk to help us redesign and update the Parlor/Meeting room at the Reformed Church of Syracuse. The project took on a life of its own. Mary became the General Contractor too.. helping the committee make decisions on wall colors, getting the painter.. doing custom cabinets to house Video/TV ...White Board's and storage.. redo of ceiling lights.. recover sofas... flooring... carpets... window treatments.. Never easy for a designer to work with a committee, but Mary guided us through all of the decisions and changes. Everyone was well pleased with the results. We would recommend Mary to anyone.

I have had the privilege of working with Mary on many projects from small baths, Kitchen remodels, to the Parade of Homes for many years now. I was honored when she selected myself to collaborate with her in the renovation of her very own kitchen recently. Her knowledge and professionalism are key in completing the projects with the highest level of service and expertise.

We were really disappointed. We hired Mary for a consultation on design issues for decision making on our midcentury modern house. She spent more than an hour chatting with us on the shared folks we knew and a second 40 minutes on design—but charged us for a 2 hour consultation. As for useable advice, I walked away with 2 ideas: move the sofa back and place a rung under the table. Not helpful for 300.00. While I like her sense of design, we wouldn’t use her services in the future.

Could not be happier working with Mary on the construction of our new home. Mary worked tirelessly on the entire project from the early planning phases to its final completion. Mary worked hand in hand with us on the entire project, visiting showrooms and through one on one design meetings at her own gorgeous studio. Mary’s unparalleled expertise with interior design provided us with unique and chic style selections that matched our design tastes as well as provided us the comfortable living environment for our entire family to enjoy. Mary went above and beyond working not only with us, but as well as our contractor, to make sure the work done matched the vision we had developed, and it was her keen attention to detail that made sure nothing was missed. We loved so much what she created for us that we hired her back to decorate our house for Christmas. I am always last minute, but Mary yet again took on the project and worked around the clock and made our house a home and transformed it into a magical winter wonderland two days before Christmas. Mary Schalk is a true professional in every sense, and we look forward to working with Mary again on future design projects. Coming away from our house build not only as happy clients, but friends as well.

I cannot express how much I love what Mary helped me design. From our bathrooms, paint color, dining room, living room; top to bottom. She worked really well with my contractor who recommended Mary. I highly recommend Mary for all your designing needs.

I met Mary at a Parade of Homes in the summer of 2016. I noticed immediately that her design approach was layered with the timeless quality, intricate color combinations, and attention to detail that make a room look approachable, not over-decorated. Since then Mary has helped me complete some of my 'almost there' rooms by using my own valued pieces and adding a few new well-chosen ones, has designed window treatments for my long bare windows, and is the first person I call when I'm ready to tackle another space. Mary is responsive, sensitive to your budget, and will listen to what your vision is for your home to help you achieve it.

Mary did a great job for us. We hired her to be a part of finishing our basement. The results were great. It would not have looked nearly as nice without Mary. She charges a fair price for her time, effort and expertise. Definitely would recommend her.

Mary was creative, patient and just kept thinking outside the box to create a beautiful environment in our new home. She paid attention to every detail with the builders. Mary worked within our budget to find new items and worked items we had and treasured into our new home. I would highly recommend working with Mark for her experience and knowledge of the industry as far as suppliers for lights, tile, etc
