About Us

Tindall Architecture Workshop (TAW) is a small studio in Greenville, SC that focuses on awesome residential architecture...blah...blah...blah. You can read a thousand other architects' websites the same carefully worded mantra about how their firm is better than everyone else. We may work in the same profession, but we are not them. We prefer blue jeans and flip flops over starched shirts and wing tips. Ball caps and t-shirts are welcomed. We are young-ish (or at least at heart), fresh and optimistic. If you are looking for the stodgy old man (or woman) Architect in town, we will begrudgingly give you their number. We are mobile and all work from home because we love our families, value our health and the low overhead keeps us lean, nimble, and competitive. This means that you pay for our time and talent and not a bunch of fancy office stuff. Our biggest pet peeve: "I have been doing it this way for 30 years". Well, ever consider you have been doing it wrong for 30 years? We are constantly learning and adapting. The world is moving too fast for anyone to settle with the same old formula. We are Architects (licensed professionals)...not designers. Designers are amateurs, and if you think an architect is more expensive to hire, wait until your amateur designer costs you thousands during construction because of poorly executed drawings or an ill-conceived design. We design. Builders build. If you have been duped into believing that your builder can provide you with a custom design, well good luck....you are going to need it. We believe in the power of “word of mouth” marketing and have fun with our social media. See for yourself on Facebook, Instagram, and our Houzz reviews. We absolutely love our clients. We listen to you. Like it or not, we will be painfully honest with you. At the end of the day, we aren’t living in your home. You are, and we want you to love it. TAW is not a firm. We are not corporate. We are comfortable with being small, local, normal and easy. But don't be fooled by our desire to be different...we are really, really good at what we do. Let us prove it to you!

We couldn’t be happier with the work of Tindall Architecture Workshop on our mid-century modern mountain home design. Matt, Julie, and Jenni took the natural beauty of the setting and created a home design that will be completely connected to its surroundings while still being warm, comfortable, and highly functional. Their understanding of mid-century modern design was exceptional—from the clean architectural lines and expansive windows to the thoughtful use of natural materials and seamless indoor-outdoor living. Every detail feels intentional without ever feeling overly designed. What impressed us most was their ability to balance the vision of a mountain home with the timeless simplicity of mid-century architecture. The result is a home design that looks both dramatic and incredibly livable. The team was creative, professional, responsive, and attentive throughout the process. They listened carefully to our ideas while bringing expertise and perspective that elevated the project far beyond what we could have imagined. We are thrilled with our mid-century modern mountain home design and look forward to starting the construction phase in the near future. Matt and Julie Tindall are hands-down the best in Greenville! Undergoing such a huge project can be overwhelming, both financially and mentally, but they truly allowed us to enjoy this process! Above all else, they listened and heard what our wants and needs were and executed them, while also being incredibly knowledgeable and insightful when we needed some outside ideas or explanations to things we didn’t understand. I cannot recommend them more because not only are they excellent professionals, but fabulous people as well! 10/10!

We decided to trust Tindall Architecture Workshop with turning our dream into a reality and now we are a little over a month into living in the house that they designed for us words can't fully describe how much we love it. The lighting is simply perfect; from sunrise to sunset there is hardly a need to have lights on at all and you can barely even tell if they are even on because there is a perfect amount of ambient light. Even with all the light it isn't harsh because of the way the house is designed and oriented. Our sons love it just as much as we do. Everyone who visits is blown away by the design and thoughtfulness that went into every space. We cannot thank Tindall enough and we will continue to tell anyone who will listen that they need to give you a call if they need an architect.

We had a fantastic experience working with Matt and Julie on our home renovation and addition project. From our initial meetings, the team helped us clearly define the project scope, which involved expanding our living space and reconfiguring the entire house for better function. We truly valued the collaborative process of translating our family's needs into a practical, beautiful design. We were most impressed with their ability to seamlessly incorporate a large addition into the existing structure. Julie, Matt, and Jeni were great to work with! We lived in Houston at the start of our design, and we came with a pretty solid plan of what we wanted. Matt worked with us to modify the design to work on our very steep slope. That design put us in a 5000+ sq ft home, which was larger than what we wanted. Matt very carefully reduced the footprint to under 3500 sq ft, keeping the key features of the house that were critical to us, and while maintaining the original design feel we originally had. Julie and Jeni were always at the ready to support meetings, offer suggestions on places to go for key design elements, and always planned our trips to Greenville to maximize our time for our short trips during the design phase. They are a delight to work with, and our home is beautiful. Thanks Matt, Julie, and Jeni!

Matt and Julie take great care of their clients and their designer Jeni provided valuable input on features to consider. The process was structured, simple and more enjoyable than we would have ever guessed. Amazing experience working with the team at Tindall. I have worked with a number of residential and commercial architects in the past and this was one of the best experiences I have had. They were on time, on budget and they delivered a set of plans that completely modernized an older lake house for us, finding additional space in the floorplan that we had no idea we had. There is not a square foot of wasted space in this house now! The views they have created from the house by working with windows and decking are incredible. Jeni's eye for interior design was impeccable and she was so easy to work with on getting us to a finished interior look. Not often you come away from a project without wishing you had done something differently, however, on this project we can't find anything we would change, and I think that is because of the work of the team at Tindall. Thanks very much!

We are finalizing our build on a home Matt Tindall designed for us. We've never built a house before, so we didn't quite know what to expect, but we couldn't be more happy with Tindall Architecture Workshop. Matt and Julie are a wonderful team and Jeni was a great asset as a designer to help with selections. We live in a different state but had no problem working with Matt to make changes. He is very patient and really cares about getting the project exactly how you want it. Matt had never worked with our builder before, but that was not a problem at all. He is experienced, accessible, and timely. Matt is also creative when coming up with solutions to meet your needs. My builder found it easy to work with Matt as well. We are so thankful a friend suggested them.
