Megan Baker Interiors

About 2/3rd's of the way through our project (design for condo renovation), and after ~25,000 paid thus far, M.B "terminated" the project with no advance warning, or explanation, other that that her "expectations" were "misaligned" with my wife's and mine. This was somewhat true, as by this point, she had designed a renovation that had vastly exceeded our clearly-communicated budget of 250k. (more like about 400k+ at this point), and it was going to require significantly more time (and money) to bring it back down to budget. And the project had fallen several weeks behind schedule, (which wasn't critical FOR US, but probably would be, for most clients). When all of these failures came to light, (and there were others, which I won't go into here), I had a frank discussion with MB about the fact that the project as-designed was way over budget and things were slipping further behind schedule. It's my belief that she didn't like this kind of feedback from her customers, and this was the basis of our "misaligned expectations". (for which she terminated our business). MB did explain that (essentially) the paperwork and assumed performance of service was not specified anywhere in her contractual paperwork, so she did not have to complete the project if she didn't want to. NB: after walking away from the project, MB did email us her partly-finished design documents, (the 400k design, so not much use to us), and some other peripheral files, (materials/fixtures package, etc). And returned our 5k retainer, (so we're only out of pocket 20k-ish).

Listened to exactly what we needed and wanted and executed it perfectly. So happy with the design of our two new bathrooms!

Our construction team worked alongside Megan Baker to execute her vision, from plan to reality of a custom interior and exterior renovation project of a Character Home in New Westminster. The project was a challenging one where the design was to blend modern design elements with a traditional home. We were absolutely thrilled with the finished product. Megan was very easy to work with, provided our team with detailed construction drawings & specifications, communicated with us throughout the project in a thorough and timely manner, and has a great eye for design and details. We would definitely recommend Megan for any future projects!
