Meg Deshpande Design Studio

It is my pleasure to write this review for Bloc Studio, who created a master bedroom in our home and also did extensive cosmetic renovations of our living spaces and bedrooms. We hired Bloc Studio after meeting with Meg and Alvaro due to their professional and pleasant demeanors, and great prior reviews. First of all, they are very communicative and efficient and conduct their business with the highest level of integrity. The price of the project was very fair. In regards to design, they made multiple excellent recommendations throughout the project which led to a final product that completely exceeded our expectations. Our new master bedroom is luxurious thanks to many custom details and the time they spent to match the trims to our 1940's home while still creating a fresh feel. The actual work itself is if the highest quality and Alvaro and his team did not quit until every detail was perfect and we were completely satisfied. They transformed our aged starter home into our dream home, and I feel satisfied every time I return home and open the door that we chose them. They are extremely versatile and collaborative, and I would not hesitate to hire them again.

As first time home buyers in Westchester BlocStudio was the perfect team to work with to update our home. We used Bloc to restain our floors, paint every wall, redo our hearth, remove popcorn ceilings, repaint kitchen cabinents and do some electrical work. Alvaro was ultimate professional, extremely responsive and his work has instantly added value. Would recommend them to any new home owners in the area.

After years of being unable to plan our complete kitchen renovation, we contacted BlocStudio. Immediately, they were able to make intelligent suggestions that improved space, work flow and aesthetics. Extremely detail oriented and professional, our full kitchen renovation (w/ electric and HVAC upgrades) was within clearly defined budgets and timelines. We found Meg and Alvaro extremely easy to deal with and would highly recommend working with them.

Meg and Alvaro of BlocStudio just completed a renovation of my basement to a bar. I would not hesitate to recommend them. Meg gave us some great ideas for the layout of the space, that I never would have otherwise considered. Those ideas, changed the entire feel for the space. At first and along the way, I had questions about some of the design, but I am glad I trusted her instincts and not mine. The end result was fantastic. Alvaro is a consummate professional. He and his crew are craftsman that take pride in their work. They were also very considerate of the fact that they were working in an occupied home and they were friendly and kept a clean work environment. The punch list was closed out quickly, and when I had subsequent issues arise, Alvaro came back to correct them immediately. I am in the business of commercial construction and I recognize quality when I see it. I was originally referred to them from a commercial architect in my industry. That would make two people in the industry that recommend BlocStudio.

Alvaro from BlocStudio was able to fix a shower pan that had been incorrectly placed. He took the most care to pitch the subfloor and mudjob to drain. The water drains beautifully now. He was also prompt in replying to any issues and always available by text which is quite valuable when you're trying to get a job like this, retrofitting and fixing, done.

We hired Meg and Alvaro to gut our entire house, re-do the roof and to clean up the basement and garage. They were patient in sitting down to understand our needs and made very good recommendations on everything! We felt that Alvaro cared alot for our house, even coming to check and sweep the water out of our garage when it was flooded. They have good relationships with the town and that helped us in terms of getting permits etc. We were very impressed with their sub-contractors as they turned up early for work everyday and even coming in on Sundays to meet our deadline. Overall we are happy with Bloc Studio and we would recommend them!

Bloc Studio was engaged to redo the shower area of our Master bathroom which had a leak. They removed and replaced the floor pan, all the marble walls and floor, fixed and painted the ceiling of the dining room below which had been damaged by the leakage. Very professional service, impeccable workmanship, very reliable.

Alvaro is the builder. He has excellent attention to detail. He is patient. A real craftsman. If you the type that need to discuss details he has the time for you. Very responsive. We re-did out kitchen, mudroom and bathroom. He also built a marvelous deck that we designed to mirror the Highline in NYC and it has turned out to be awesome!!! We rec him without hesitation

We worked with BlocStudio to create a tv solution for our family room. Working with them was a very collaborative process. They remained within budget and addressed any questions we had during the project, even making a minor design change. The work itself is of a high quality and they were meticulous in the work area (adjacent to our kitchen). We are 100% satisfied with the outcome of our project and that it has improved our living space.

Meg and Al renovated my whole first floor, including a new kitchen and full bath, along with reconfiguring the space to create a kitchen/family room and office/guest room. Meg's designs are really smart - they look good on paper, but they are fabulous now that we are using the space. She listened to what we needed and gave us exactly what we wanted. She also helped with paint colors and sizes/finishes of fixtures. Al's carpentry skills are creative and well done. He even gave my cabinet installer advice that made my cabinets look a lot better and filled in spaces they had left to make it look perfect. Meg and Al both have an excellent eye for detail and are not satisfied until the project looks perfect. They are also really nice people who always have an upbeat attitude and demeanor. I highly recommend them.

We have hired BlocStudio for a complete renovation of our kitchen and en-suite bathroom. We have been entirely satisfied with the results, but also impressed by the budget and time management. The team is focused on quality, which has been a constant theme from the design phase (esthetics and functionality) to the execution (selection of materials, construction and installation). BlocStudio team do really understand modern design, with clean lines and architectural details, but the real bonus for having hired them is creativity they have added to our place. All the constraints set for the project have been taken into account and beautifully delivered thanks to constant dialog from the team. We view the real benefit of hiring BlocStudio in the professionalism (availability, budget, timing, reliability), and the quality of their work. They delivered a high end product which was fairly priced.

Great interior designer! Meg understands space and color!! She is able to work within a budget and meet customer standards. Creative and accessible. A pleasure to work with. I can't wait to use her again!
