My wife and I live four hours away and had several reservations about taking on such a large project not having “eyes” on the work being done on a daily basis. Furthermore, after looking into the process we were overwhelmed with the planning and design that needed to be completed before the project was started. After meeting with Mike Ferraro and his team, many of our doubts were erased and we became more comfortable with the entire process including the distance factor. Mike’s team of designers and architects came up with a design that captured our vision and fit several of the concepts we wanted included. While the house was being framed, a contractor friend from downstate was in the area and stopped by the site. He was very impressed with the extra care in the framing, especially around the windows. The extra attention paid off with an extremely low blower test score which translates into an exceptionally energy efficient home. My recommendation to anyone looking to build or renovate, is to find a builder who has a keen eye for design. Someone who is mindful of your budget. A builder who has experience with navigating through the obstacles and who demands excellence from his trades people. Mike Ferraro checks all the boxes. If the Ferraro Group has the bandwidth to take on your job you can’t go wrong.

We hired the Ferraro Group twice this year to help us with interior design and construction work that was beyond our skill level. The first time was for updating our home and selling it and the second time was to help us make our new house a home through interior design. The Ferraro Group brought a level of sophistication that we could not have achieved on our own. Jamee who handles interior design was particularly skilled in strategizing and implementing ideas that would work. I was impressed with her knowledge of structural factors and construction along with her aesthetic sense. She helped us bring the house we sold to its highest level and stayed within our budget. In our new home, Jamee helped us bring four rooms on the main floor into a cohesive aesthetic. I found Jamee to be an excellent listener, up to date on her craft and reassuring throughout the process. She adjusted well when we changed direction a bit and she came back with ideas and suggestions that were better than I expected. Her ideas really brought a wow factor but in a subtle way that suits the taste of our family. In addition, each person we worked with in the Ferraro Group felt like a trusted partner. Whether it was overall plan discussions with Mike Ferraro or discussions with the person explaining piping in the bathroom; I left them feeling excited, reassured and ready to get started. If you want to work with a professional class act; whether you're discussing the look of your rooms, to tearing down walls and getting into complex projects; these are the folks. Highly, highly recommend. I hope to work with them again someday when we are ready for a new project!

We first began working with Mike Ferraro in 2011 in order to design and build our current home. More recently, we decided to proceed with finishing our walkout basement, and contacted him once again to begin our project. Since our initial build, the Ferraro Group has expanded, and now offers comprehensive design services which we have used for our project. We have had the pleasure of working with Jamee Hagen, the designer of the Ferraro Group, throughout our current project. The talent and energy that she brings to the design process is refreshing to say the least. After sitting down to discuss what we envisioned for our basement, as well as sharing a variety of inspiration pictures that we had collected, Jamee was able to provide a complete and creative design plan for our project. Computer renderings, material samples, as well as close communication all provided for a smooth design process. As our project is now in the construction phase, we are eagerly awaiting her design to come to life. The addition of the design process with Jamee to the Ferraro Group has made an already stellar construction company even more robust. We highly recommend without reservations.

When searching for a competent and professional design/build remodeler, we were looking for that company that had a stellar reputation as well as someone with whom we could relate. For us, The Ferraro Group and Mike Ferraro was that company. Mike and his team listened to what we wanted to do with our home and has helped to guide us through the process. Understanding the local permitting, including county and township regulations and the circumstances involved with that, has allowed Mike's local knowledge and experience to be invaluable. We hired the Ferraro Group to build our home that was designed by another person. Using Mike and his team was the best decision we made. After he reviewed our home plans and visited our property, he came up with so many suggestions and improvements that helped with the style, layout, and energy efficiency to create a healthy home for us. He also saved us money with the all the site-related expenses because the person who drew our plans did not take into account the particulars and constraints of our property. We wish we would have had the Ferraro Group do our designs. This is the first time we built and did not realize all the details involved. Each time we met with Mike, he would share information and we would just shake our heads afterwards about all the things we did not think of during design (and why the other designer did not discuss with us.). It made us realize the importance of using a design/build company that could have helped us through all the decisions during the pre-planning and design phase, and keep us within our budget, rather than making decisions after the plans are drawn. We definitely would use Mike and his team again and highly recommend them. We will have him finish our basement for us.

A few years ago, my husband and I hired the Ferraro Group to design and build our legacy home on Lake Michigan. We had previously built a few times before in Michigan, so we knew all the details that go into building a home. Without exception, Mike's processes for design and building are extremely thorough, his team very talented, and he kept us well-informed and within budget. No surprises! Using them for both the design and building made so much sense because they help with selections, styles, decorating, and specifications all upfront while the house is being designed. This way you know when the design is completed, you've approved most of the costs and very few decisions need to be made during construction. What really pleased us was their knowledge of all the best materials to use, the architectural styles, both interior and exterior, that suited us and the property's surroundings, and the exceptional skills the carpenters have in building all the little details. This is why we hired the Ferraro Group again to renovate our cottage in Grand Cayman. There is not a lot of good to be said about "island time" and available resources. We actually saved time and money by hiring Mike. They flew down, visited the home, and came back with designs and recommendations. They have a strong grasp of the island genre and architectural styles. We did the renovation in three stages, each time flying Mike and his crew and all their tools down for about a month at a time. They are always very professional, courteous and clean, and stayed on schedule. We could not be more pleased with Mike and his team, including Larry, Dave, Eric, Joan, Miguel, and all the others.

The Ferraro Group did a complete renovation of our home. Mike and his team were easy to work with and patient with our changes and delays in making decisions. Our Project Manager John Burns was always available on weekends when we needed to meet. John was attentive to details and knew what we liked to help us make decisions. Updates and pictures were posted online frequently so we could see all the changes. We are very happy with the quality and details of the work performed by the Ferraro team and their trades.

We hired the Ferraro Group first to renovate a house and then for a new construction project. Mike and his team were - simply put - excellent. Incredibly thorough, very responsive and always focused on providing best in class service. The Ferraro Group always delivered. Everyone we dealt with treated our job like it was their own house. We would without hesitation recommend Mike and his team for any project. Our project had many custom features and the Ferraro Group was instrumental in completing everything on time and within budget. We had a fantastic experience across the board - amazing group of people.

I liked Mike Ferraro from almost the moment I met him. It was quickly apparent that he knew his business very well. He brought his interior design person to the first meeting and together we discussed the possibilities and options for renovating a 30+ year old condo. We spent time agreeing on a general outline for a plan and Mike then sent me an estimate in which we agreed to the scope of the project. I had additional meetings with the interior designer Gretchen and once the project started the crew worked diligently and regularly toward completion. I was amazed that the group actually did everything they said they were going to do when they said they would do it. Larry Kinney, project foreman, sent me pictures and summaries of the work being done as it occurred. Larry is an amazing person with a real eye for the little things and attention to detail. He spent a great deal of time just thinking about how he might perform the work and make it special. All of the crew, from carpenters, plumbers, electricians, various installation people, painters, etc... were top notch and professional. I'll also put in a word for Joan, who works in the office and sent us a monthly invoice. Joan is very kind, professional, and displays the same level of accuracy and caring as the people in the field. The cost of the project was higher than I started out planning for, but none of that was a surprise. Mike and I discussed options, and often we chose to select an upgrade or something extra but that was our decision without any pressure from Mike. Mike and Larry have a way of always telling you "yes we can" rather than "sorry" and I must say their attitudes were always the very best. I can't say enough good about what a pleasant experience we had working with the entire group. We ended up with a totally renovated condo in a prime location that is simply beautiful. We will always be grateful to the entire Ferraro group and would hire them again in a heartbeat. Thanks to the entire group!

We were first time home builders who retained Ferraro Group - Legacy Design and Construction to design and build a new home in the Traverse City, Michigan area.
