Mitchell Channon Design

We met Mitchell Channon and his associate Sarah through the Designer-on-Call Program at Merchandise Mart where we were looking to find a designer to redecorate our living room. We had a smallish budget and we live in Florida, but Mitchell and Sarah decided to take on the challenge. They presented us with several floor plans to choose from as well as many beautiful fabric and accessory options. The final result is a stunning living room that is a mix new furniture with re-upholstered and stained existing furniture. We were apprehensive about the long distance design process, but it worked our very well. We're very happy with the Mitchell Channon Design experience and recommend them wholeheartedly.

Working with Mitchell and his team is a dream come true. Mitchell immediately puts you to ease and makes the entire process of determining the scope and goals of your project enjoyable and fulfilling. Our project is complete and a wonder. This year we had an opportunity to work with Mitchell Channon Design on a vignette for the River North Design District Galley Walk. Mitchell, Sarah and Bruce were great to work with! They took the time to design the space, brought in the painter and window treatment. They were extremely detail oriented, took the lead on designing, implementing and coordinating the process. The vignette was transformed to a beautiful and colorful lounge at the end. I couldn't be happier with the result. The event was a great success due to Mitchell Channon Design group's hard work! Mitchell Channon Design served our design needs in several ways over the past year. They drew a detailed furniture layout for the great room in our 1950's split-level homeand led us into exciting furnishing and lighting choices for that room, as well as the entry hall. All of the new furnishings enhance the aesthetic of the home. They selected paint colors for the downstairs guest room suite and adjoining rec-room, and coordinated the decor for bedding, floor covering and windows in our guest room. We appreciate their talent at leading us into choices and selections that are suitable for our family's lifestyle as well as the architectural features of the house. Mitchell and Sarah were consistently responsive, attentive to detail, and collaborative in our concept conversations, purchase decisions and installation procedures. We were pleased with the professional contacts they recommended for painting, art consulting, art framing, and art installation. We always had the impression that Mitchell Channon Design truly delights in encouraging their clients to seek out the best possible options for beauty, quality and functionality, and we are so glad to be enjoying the benefits of the choices they have helped us make so far.

We feel very fortunate to have discovered Mitchell Channon Design. When we purchased a new condo last year, we decided to start from scratch, bringing with us virtually nothing from our prior residence and entrusting MCD with an entirely blank 2,900 sq ft canvas. Given the size of the project, we spent a lot of time with Mitchell and his talented associate Sarah, and we always enjoyed their company and energy. Our schedules are hectic and were grateful for MCD’s meticulous management of every element of the project, down to the last detail. MCD is process driven in the best sense of the word. Mitchell’s approach and style are such that we felt integral to the design direction without ever feeling overwhelmed or pressured into decisions we weren’t comfortable with. At the same time, Mitchell and Sarah did greatly expand our comfort zone by exposing us to colors, patterns, textures and styles that we lacked the vision and experience to imagine. Mitchell has a wonderful ability to articulate the deep thinking behind his recommendations and we learned a lot from him. MCD is highly conceptual, creating an overarching theme for our home that permitted individual rooms and spaces to be unique and varied, while still perfectly coalescing into a larger, coherent experience. We've been in our home for nine months and still find it exhilarating to step inside.

After selling a condo I'd owned for 25 yrs. I moved into a space with spectacular views at Lake Point Tower. It was time to start from scratch. I was scrolling through designers and their work on a Merchandise Mart website, - and Mitchell's work really caught my eye. He has a very architectural and sculptural sense of design. He chooses beautiful, iconic pieces of whatever style or era and places them with a "less is more" attitude. The result is a beautiful, relaxing place with understated elegance. He quickly understood my taste, - and provided me with lots of choices. He and his talented assistant Sarah have the unique combination of being easy going, but very responsive and perfectionistic. Mitchell did another fantastic job! In addition to making our living room beautiful and comfortable, he designed and had fabricated a totally unique and original stereo cabinet to house all of our electronics and old fashioned vinyl records. Everyone who comes over to our house comments on how great the stereo cabinet is. He also made what I always considered a dreary looking fireplace look fantastic. We would definitely use him again.
