We want to take a moment to thank you for sending Ryan over with Chris to identify any issues that required 'fixing' before you set us free. We were astounded by the list that Ryan came up with. In our eyes, everything was perfect with a bit of expected wear and tear from our year of living in our renovated home. Ryan, true to his nature, is a perfectionist and discovered small issues that he felt needed to be resolved. The tradesmen who were sent in were courteous, efficient, and were all respectful of the need to wear masks and socially distance while in our home. We know that you are already aware you have a gem with Ryan. We also know that Chris is new to your organization and we want to let you know that we were very pleased with his involvement. We met Mark and Meredith a few years ago as we started putting together a team to help build our dream home. We ended up selecting them as our contractor before we even selected an architect because we felt so strongly that they would be a good fit for us. Boy, were we right! MJCH did a tremendous job with every aspect of the project and allowed us to build a home while living 600 miles away with less stress than we ever thought possible. Through hurricanes and COVID they never missed a beat. Mark and Meredith have a team of people who are professional and also super nice. (Ryan, Todd and Katelyn are the best)! They all did a great job of communicating with us throughout the project by supplying us with daily updates and weekly photos. They were very responsive to any of our questions. Now to the quality of their work. They exceeded our expectations with their attention to detail and superior craftsmanship. They have access to the best subs in the area due to their reputation as being a top notch builder. We recently moved in to our new home and they are still checking in with us to see if we need anything. MJCH also offers a design service through Eddie Rider Designs. Eddie was invaluable in helping us with our selections and pulling all of the decorating aspects together. When you hire MJCH, you get the peace of mind that you’ve hired the best. You also form a relationship with a great group of people.

The whole process was on time - even amid a pandemic - on budget and transparent. MJ is using great customer-centric software that allows clients to monitor each DAY, so there is no need to nudge them for updates. I am a bit bereft that we are done with our build because the creating was so much fun... but the house turned out perfectly. From helping us to assess which lot to buy, to ensuring our kitchen and master bath were perfectly designed, to going above and beyond after we moved in (They fixed our screened porch after a hurricane despite having no responsibility to do so) the team was tremendous. We recently moved to the Wilmington area from out of state and were looking for a competent and honest contractor to complete a major renovation to our newly purchased residence. We knew that our home had ‘good bones’ but was ‘tired’ and needed a complete update. Mark Johnson Custom Homes (MJCH) was recommended to us by several of our neighbors who had either used Mark and Meredith’s services, or were familiar with their work. Our next-door neighbor had recently completed a major renovation with MJCH and the result was stunning. Doing our due diligence, we obtained several estimates from highly recommended contractors working in the area. The cost estimates were similar, but the professionalism that Mark demonstrated during our initial meetings with him and his offer to include a designer to assist us with our selection decisions were the final selling points. We were not disappointed with our decision. Mark and Meredith use only the most competent tradesmen and employ project managers who are not only capable, but also communicative and extremely easy to work with. Any questions we had were answered promptly. Any requested changes or additions to our original plan were incorporated quickly and with either no or minimal increase in cost. We were very much included in all of the renovation stages from day #1. Mark originally estimated that our project would take approximately six months to complete; and six months almost to the day we were able to move back into our beautifully renovated home. We would like to add that this potentially overwhelming process was made far easier by the inclusion of the design service that MJCH employs. Eddie Rider, from Eddie Rider Designs, assisted us in the selection process almost from the start of the project. This included everything from selecting our cabinetry and hardware, carpeting, plumbing and electrical fixtures, hardwood floor stains, tiles, and even assisting us with wall paint colors. Eddie intuitively knew the ‘look’ we were going for and strove diligently to achieve to help us achieve this. He succeeded. In conclusion, anyone who is interested in working with an extremely honest and competent company for a high end renovation should seriously consider Mark Johnson Custom Homes in their selection process. We believe you will not be disappointed.

MJCH recently built our retirement home and we love it. It was our third experience building a custom home and it was by far the best! Daily communication and prompt answers to all of our questions made the process fun and pain free. His organization, reliability, and professionalism are qualities that set Mark and his team apart. All our expectations were met. When we were there on site, the subs that we met were very nice and accommodating. The construction schedule was very helpful, we were able to plan our visits based on this schedule. This is a helpful tool for out of town customers such as us. We also enjoyed and appreciated the pictures. Since we could not be there often, the pictures were a means of watching the progress. We would not hesitate recommending MJCH to anyone interested in building a new home. We never considered another builder because we felt very comfortable and trusted Mark.
