About Us

As Southern California's premiere horticulturist, landscape designer, educator, and plant design expert, Wayne provides on-site consultation & planting plans for homeowners. The process is simple. Wayne visits your home to discuss landscape design concepts and a plant theme. You receive a hand-drawn base plan showing hardscape. Wayne returns to his office and develops a color PDF file (first draft), allowing you to select the plants you like. After you choose the plants you like, Wayne finalizes the plan and you email PDF file to procure competitive bids for the landscape installation. Need ideas for your garden? Wayne invites you to visit his informative and educational website (click on website button in upper right) and view his My Garden photos. He recommends you review the 21 Garden Styles so you can select a garden style you truly like. This gives you a concept that will blossom into the quintessential garden of your dreams—a beautiful and tranquil outdoor environment. Wayne's Idea Books (click above) offers examples of his planting plans and consultation drawings, including plant photos for Butterfly & Hummingbird Gardens, Shade Gardens, and many more homeowner plant themes. We had a wonderful experience working with Wayne and couldn’t be happier with the final result. He designed our entire backyard from start to finish, including the hardscaping, plants and garden areas, lighting, and drainage. He was incredibly knowledgeable and thoughtful throughout the entire process, and really took the time to understand our vision and bring it to life. One of the things we appreciated most was how accommodating he was with revisions. He was happy to make as many changes as we needed at no additional cost, which made the design process feel collaborative and stress-free. He was also kind, responsive, and consistently timely throughout the project. We would highly recommend him to anyone looking to transform their outdoor space. He made what could have been an overwhelming process easy and enjoyable!

I am so happy I got the chance to work with Wayne. He took the time to get all the needed details to create a beautiful design that works for my project. He is an expert, his work is thorough, he is easy to reach and communicate with, and most importantly he cares for the final outcome and about his clients satisfaction. Wayne, you saved our yard!!! Wayne was very easy to work with. His eye for design and plant palate were spot on for our front yard. He took into account our budget, likes, dislikes and needs. Wayne created a very comprehensive design for my back yard landscape and hardscape project. He delivered on schedule. We had a follow up call for about an hour going over everything and answering questions. After the call, he sent a revision based on our conversation within an hour. Wayne was enjoyable to work with and highly knowledgeable about plant selection, ensuring that our plants won't outgrow the design, offering plant choices specific to light and soil conditions, and keeping an eye on design principles like layering and contrast. The plans were laid out in a way that was easy for us to understand, including ongoing maintenance and watering instructions, yet the plan was highly technical in a manner required by HOA and/or contractors. There were no hidden fees, and I felt his price offered high value.

Wayne is very personable, and extremely knowledgeable about everything related to landscape design. His plan fit the aesthetic of our home and the size of the yard while incorporating some plantings that we really wanted. The end result is more beautiful than we expected, and gives us tremendous curb appeal. We have already received compliments from our neighbors. Please note that his detailed design plan made it simple for us to get estimates and made installation go smoothly as it was completely clear what had to be done. We highly recommend him.

I had an incredible experience with Wayne! I had a general idea of what I wanted in my backyard, but I was having difficulty bringing everything together. Wayne listened to what I wanted and created a beautiful space for me. He also provided me with a list of great contractors and detailed instructions for them to follow. Our experience with Wayne was beyond superior. His ability to interpret our thoughts into a complete landscape design plan was amazing. I can highly recommend Wayne for landscape design. We’re renovating a townhome in Dana Point and this is the last phase of our project. Wayne has helped us through every step of the way, providing his horticultural and design expertise, while allowing us the opportunity to add or modify his suggestions with our personal preferences. We would have been lost and not had a clue how to move forward, but now we’re better educated about what we’re doing. Wayne has been a great help to get our garden in shape. He is very professional, courteous, knowledgeable, efficient, and kind. He took the time to go through the whole garden and has helped us to fix the problems we have had with the flooding of the backyard and helped us to improve the garden design. He gave us great tips to fix the vegetable garden, the overgrown shrubs, and beautify the front yard . He is very understanding, easy to talk to and always available for any questions that might arrive during the project. He has given us great resources and works within the budget. I would highly recommend him for any landscaping project
