Nicodemus Design

I have had the pleasure of working with Nate Nicodemus on a number of custom single-family projects in the San Diego area. Nate possesses a great eye for design and carefully listens to the client’s needs to thoughtfully create homes that are custom tailored to exceed their expectations. His expert knowledge of 3D modeling and renderings provides an invaluable tool for effectively communicating his designs throughout the creative process. For clients who struggle to visualize a design using floor plans and elevations only, this is a game changer. I highly recommend Nate. Nate is an incredibly talented architect and designer. We could not be happier with the way our home has turned out. At every stage of this project we have been blown away by how the design of our home has captured our unique needs and desires while maximizing in ways that we couldn’t have imagined on our own. In building what we consider to be a small family compound on a very modestly sized property, we were looking for the right amount of creativity in order to accomplish the feat in a way that feels seamless and functional but also beautiful. Nate was able to provide that and so much more to make this vision a reality. The companion unit settles perfectly on the space and enables the two homes to complement and not compete with one another and celebrates our preferred style timelessly. Nate’s attention to detail is nothing short of meticulous and we are grateful for every detail he took into consideration. We are thrilled and grateful for the passion and care that Nate brought to the entire process.

We found Nate thru out contractor. Our situation was we had a fire, which essentially was a full rebuild, full house. We knew that we wanted to add space to our house and this was the time to do it. So when we started working with Nate, the first step was really Nate learning about our wants, needs, and style. It was a very collaborative process, and one which felt intimate. You are trusting someone to learn about your family and build something which represents you, and very personal, our home. So thru the process, we all got to know one another. Nate not only designed a beautiful home for us, he was invested in seeing his design and our home come to completion. He is more than an architect, he cares about the whole thing, including the interior design and the landscape. So throughout process, it was great always having Nate yo bounce material ideas off of. He also was very clear in parts of the project on which parts of design were open for discussion and which weren't. That was helpful, because in any project, there come points where you likely have to value engineer. And we did...but he made sure that nothing that was essential was removed. Nate handled everything, conceptual design, construction drawings, working with engineering firms, submittal to city and managing comments and re-submittal, working with GC, and as noted, landscape concepts and interior design support. We love our house, our neighbors are in awe of our house. Nate had a vision much bigger than we would have ever thought of on our own...so while we felt our voice was in the design, he just enhanced it in ways we just wouldn't have thought of. And then having a great GC to deliver....we feel extremely grateful to have taken a horrible situation of losing our home and now having a custom built home. Overall, Nate is great...he will take your concept and not only make it come to life, He has big ideas, he has a strong point of view, and he cares about his clients. He is responsive, and I always felt like we were his most important client.
