Raji RM

This is an overdue review for a fantastic project that Raji undertook 18 months ago and that we continue to enjoy. Raji has transformed our home. It’s such a wonderful expression of us - swanked up, grown up, and more beautiful than we are - but us through and through. She has done such an amazing job integrating our pre-existing furniture and art. She created an extraordinary rug and stunning mural that please us daily and draw compliments from guests. Raji not only made our place beautiful, but she has also changed how we use the spaces in our home through her wonderful arrangements and vignettes. Raji is brilliant in her field. She embraced our constraints, including our fixed budget, and turned them into a fun puzzle. She took unconventional leaps that show imagination at work, pulled ideas from a wide range of contexts, willingly put aside typical periodization, and listened carefully and then enriched our ideas. Raji definitely delivered.

Raji is an artist, and her final work product delights me and every guest to my home. She has a deep collection of quality sources and knows how to combine new and old things in a way that is beautiful, comfortable, and elegant. She understands both what kinds of pieces are interesting in their own right and also how different pieces fit together in a way to make a whole that is better than just its parts. I love how it all fits together -- rugs, mural, art work, furniture, paint, lighting, small whimsical items placed about the home, bookcases. Everything is harmonious and beautiful. The process was also wonderful. She clearly explained options to me and the effect that one decision had on other design elements. Some things I wanted to know the details about, but others I was happy to leave to her discretion -- she handled both situations perfectly. She listened to my ideas and incorporated, and improved upon, them in ways that were creative and innovative. She was practical and worked within my budget. She was efficient and delivered on schedule. All her written and oral communications were clear. And the installation was amazing. She and her team obsessed over every detail. Raji was perfect for me, and I made a good friend in the process. She has my highest recommendation.

We cannot recommend Raji and her team enough having just completed a near total home renovation with her! When we were considering whom to hire for the renovation we considered architects, contractors, design-build firms, and interior designers. We ultimately decided to work with Raji and her team for the renovation and cannot be happier with the outcome. The value-added of working with an interior designer on the renovation (as opposed to the decoration) for us was that our design aesthetic is now infused into our home. We didn't build a blank canvas only to work with an interior designer later on. Instead, we built the design collaboratively. We particularly appreciated that Raji understands that when renovating a home one must care for the bones of the house, even if it means sacrificing a design element along the way or having to change course to find another creative design solution. It seems to be universally true (at least from watching HGTV and talking to friends) that when embarking on a renovation, there are invariably discoveries about one's home that need to be addressed along the way. For Raji the integrity of our home was of paramount importance. This was a renovation done right! We cannot wait to embark on decorating our home with Raji!

We have a very modern house and have struggled with making it feel cozy. Raji has redesigned interior of our house making it feel warm and homely. She has been very effective in reusing our existing furniture and art, and adding a few new pieces of furniture, lighting and pillows. I particularly admire her choice of fabrics and art placement. Important to mention that thought the project implementation Raji and her staff have been very efficient, responsive and professional.

I have nothing but positive rave reviews for Raji's work, care, attitude, warmth and professionalism. I first took note of her work many years ago when I noticed a curated collection of items she featured on One King's Lane. I loved the items she featured and was even more excited when I noted that she lived and worked in the DC area. Raji's aesthetic, which is daring and modern, while paying homage to the classics and timeless materials is rare in the DC market. A few years later we found ourselves with a new house, and I found her website and gave her a call. Throughout the several months that we spent designing our home from top to bottom, we were consistently pleased with her design aesthetic, which respected our personal preferences as to color and style while also bringing Raji’s own sense of “design magic” to the table at every turn. Raji was as prepared for that first meeting as she was for every single meeting since - with a list! Further, she is responsive, caring and enthusiastic. Raji’s roll-up-her-sleeves attitude and her passion for design is nothing short of contagious. We sit now in our home, which has been fully transformed thanks to Raji. It's like a work of art. Some highlights - the kitchen table Raji had made for us by a restaurant supplier in Paris – after tirelessly seeking out recommendations from café owners in Paris on how to order a custom size. A picture hung low on a wall so that our young daughter can see it. Jaw dropping bespoke rugs, designed by Raji’s own hand and cut to exact specification. A photographic mural of Versailles behind our bed - the snapshot taken by Raji. The sum of these and Raji’s numerous other special touches cannot be measured. Raji has our highest recommendation. I found Raji from her photographs on Houzz. When I contacted her, she was professional and prompt to respond. My need was to have an experienced professional with a wide range of design experience to help me do some revisions and add final touches to a two year old home in Washington, DC. It would have been wonderful to have had Raji's help from the beginning of my project! Given the limited scope of my assignment, Raji worked with me to find items, rearrange existing furniture and art, choose some new colors, and make my home far more enjoyable. Raji has an ability to listen and understand a client, but is open with her suggestions. Her far ranging experience enables her to quickly find the perfect solutions to design problems. I loved meeting her and was totally happy with all the help I received.

I have long admired Raji RM & Associates and find their work to be most creative and innovative in home design. The homes Raji designs are so personal yet sophisticated and nothing like you've seen before. So many designers do high-end projects but, Raji's work stands out because it's not only high-end but also very creative, classy and totally chic. We worked together with Raji RM & Assoc in their search for a center table for one of their clients. They were very professional and, always answered very fast and kindly to all of my emails despite of the time difference. I can say they are very professional: checked the quality and condition of the item by asking for detailed photos and later called me to speak of all the details. Once they decided to take the table we discussed the best option for shipping. It was really a pleasure working with Raji and her team. We are thrilled with the beautiful work that Raji Radhakrishnan has just completed on our home. We had a collection of traditional furniture and art that we wanted to use in our new, contemporary home. I needed help blending the two styles and Raji delivered with exceptional grace and panache. She is a truly gifted individual who worked with us on every aspect of the interior, from window treatments to selecting and reframing new works of art. We had three of her murals installed and they are absolutely gorgeous. Raji went beyond the ordinary and drew upon her global connections to curate a look that was perfectly in tune with with our vision. Raji was also able to work within our budget and time frame which we really appreciated. Overall, we are very pleased and would choose to use her company again in the future.

I worked with Raji soon after moving to Washington DC. I hired her to design my apartment which is unusually shaped with a mixture of different fixtures (modern and classical.) I also gave her a relatively tight deadline, unlike her usual projects. Raji took on the challenge with commitment and professionalism. She was lovely to work with and worked diligently to design a home that fit my personality and needs. Raji introduced me to vintage furniture and the results have been magnificent. She involved me in all aspects of the process and was happy to provide me with a variety of options to choose from. She was committed to working within the budget I outlined and quickly, and in my opinion accurately, identified where the major investments should be made. She delivered the project on time in spite of the short deadline and designed a home I'm happy to come to. Indeed, she made my move to Washington far more enjoyable and for that I'm very appreciative. I would recommend her without any reservations.
