Lucynda designed an amazing family room addition and new bathroom for our large family. We really weren’t sure what we wanted when we consulted with her. We just knew we needed to add space. She has amazing ideas and a real attention to creative solutions and details. We highly recommend her! Our addition and new bathroom are exactly what we wanted/needed.

As a North Main resident, I narrowed down my architect selection to Lucynda Moore - and one other highly recommended one in the area. I chose Lucynda because of her creative approaches to ways I could expand the footprint for an owners suite addition. I have been continuously pleased with Lucynda’s design and expertise throughout the process. She is resourceful, responsive and thorough in every aspect. If I could, I would rate her higher than 5. I absolutely love the way it is coming along… and give her a great deal of credit, from the planning and design…to help selecting a contractor…to always being available for questions and advice

We've worked with Lucynda on multiple projects at our home and plan to work with her again. Not only does she bring ideas to the table that we never would have thought of, but she's also great at taking our feedback and ideas and incorporating them into the project. We've been thrilled with both renovation projects and thoroughly enjoyed the process along the way.

Susan and David G ( N. Main ) We hired Lucinda to help design a renovation. We found some discrepancies in her knowledge and ability to coach us through the design process. SHE IS NOT AN ARCHITECT!! We were more than disappointed by what seemed to be either sloppy or deceptive business practices and unprofessional conduct. She was unable to substantiate her billing. She charged us for a 6 hour meeting that was only 2 hours. And....She does NOT provide an explanation for her bills. We received several more designs than we needed or requested and she demanded payment. We were not treated respectfully and were over charged!!

STOP!!! DO NOT HIRE BEFORE READING!!! We hired Lucynda Moore, Rare Designs, Inc., in March 2020. She was recommended as an architect for house remodel/additions by a builder. Seemed like a simple process. Basically we needed as-built house plans and the addition of about 2000sq ft of new space. We met Lucynda at our house. She told us she graduated from architect school at Clemson. She seemed to be understanding of our project and gave initial estimate of $2500 for as-built plans in 6 weeks. She charges $175/hr which we new was high but were willing to pay a bit more for a quick/simple project. She portrayed herself as more than qualified. We signed her contract and that’s when the issues started. Took 4 months to get as builts at twice initial price. Decided to fire her. Was then told as builts were incomplete and needed $2000 more to correct. 6 mos and $7000 later finally have as builts only. Not licensed. Worst architect we have ever worked with. USE SOMEONE ELSE!!!!!!!

I cannot say enough about the wonderful design Lucynda created for us. We were looking to do a major kitchen/dining room remodel and were open to touching other areas of the house if needed. We had already brought in 2 designers who gave us very lackluster plans that amounted to new cabinets and removing part of a wall. Thankfully we found Lucynda who gave us not 1, but 2 amazing plans to choose from that completely re-imagined the kitchen area as well as our laundry, closets, and master bath area. We love the new spaces we now have and would highly recommend working with Lucynda for your design needs.

Lucynda and her team did a great job of understanding our needs and budget and helping us design to that intersection of interests. She had creative ideas about how to maximize the utility of the spaces in our older downtown home. She was very understanding when some personal health circumstances disrupted the timing of our renovation, and was equally helpful when we restarted the process.

Professional, Innovative, and Creative are words that describe Rare Design. Would highly recommend them for your next project no matter the size!

They took on a project of adding a bathroom in a property with a small foot print. Did an excellent job and very economical.

Lucynda Moore is an incredibly creative architect! My husband and I hired her to redesign our home for renovation. Built in the 1920's, our cherished Cape Cod had become too small and not functional for our family of 6. From her first meeting, she paid attention to details that we hoped to attain. Lucynda made our wishes possible, and then some! We have 2 boys and 2 girls, ranging from 5 years to 13 years. She designed private wings to separate boys from girls and created many gathering spaces to appeal to each person in our home. Our additions transition seamlessly with the older parts of our home. She is a true gem, especially with older homes! I would choose her over and again, and have recommended her multiple times to friends!

We designed our new home long distance, with phone call meetings to evaluate. It was a fun experience designing and contemplating our home for retirement. Lucynda listened to what our vision was and worked together with us to achieve that vision, also making great suggestions for a few things that "work" that we didn't think of, in an attractive yet functional home we love living in.
