Exceptional work from start to finish. We hired John Rourke / John Rourke Finish Trim, Inc. to design and build a custom entertainment center, and he delivered on every level. The craftsmanship is stunning. Every detail executed with precision and care, with a finished product that looks like it belongs in a showroom. He was punctual, efficient, and never sacrificed quality for speed. Communication was seamless the entire time, valuing our input and preferences, and the pricing was an outstanding value for the level of skill he brings. If you need a finish carpenter who delivers on craftsmanship, reliability, communication, and value, John Rourke is your guy. We’ll absolutely be calling him again.

John built a custom floor-to-ceiling bookcase/media wall for us and knocked it out of the park. This was not a simple install — 10’ ceilings, integrated crown/base details, custom TV bay, onsite-built birch ply shelving, and a design that needed to look more architectural and built-in rather than “just shelves.” He understood my vision immediately and executed it beautifully. What impressed me most was his eye for proportion and detail. He suggested several refinements during the build that made the final piece much better, especially the wrapped transition detail separating the upper and lower sections. The finished result looks far more expensive and custom than I expected at this price point. I don't have time to eff around with crappy contractors - Joyn was professional, thoughtful, communicative, and clearly takes pride in his work. The craftsmanship was remarkably clean for an onsite build, and the whole project came together VERY quickly. I’m extremely picky and genuinely thrilled with how it turned out. Highly recommend!

I was very happy with the projects John worked on for us. In addition to the finished product turning out great, John was easy to communicate with, the work came out exactly as we discussed, it took the the amount of time he said it would take and I thought the pricing was fair. I would certainly hire him again for additional projects and recommend him to others!

John has done several projects for me over the past 10 plus years. I just can't say enough about his work and professionalism. He had done my entire house with crown molding, and many odd jobs. Most recently he created/made new custom shelves/cabinets around my fireplace. If you get the opportunity to have John do a project for you, you will not be disappointed! Highly recommend John Rourke!

I just realized upon referring this business to a neighbor that I have been remiss in leaving a review myself! John Rourke completed built-ins and a new mantle for us this past summer, and it was hands-down the best money we’ve spent since purchasing our home 2 years ago. They completely changed the look of our family room and we have received so many compliments. My background is in interior design so I have worked with many contractors and vendors over the year, and John stands out as one of the best. He was a true professional to work with, had great ideas, and patiently guided me through the design/decision-making process. His pricing was reasonable and he was very helpful in recommending a painter, etc. I would not hesitate to work with John again and we hope to have him back for future projects.

John recently completed a wainscoting project for my townhome. He did an excellent job clarifying what I was looking for, finishing the job in the time estimated, giving advice on what might look best for the space, and providing quality work. His ability to take on the project shortly after the quote was given allowed me to stay on track with my move-in date, which was essential. Additionally, there were some unexpected changes to the final steps of the project with another tradesman, and John handled it with the utmost professionalism, demonstrating a high caliber of integrity in his business practices. I will definitely use him for future jobs without hesitation.

They showed up on time and were very reliable and professional they also have great workmanship. So excited to do future work with them. I would highly recommend.

John and his son did an awesome job custom building our pantry shelves, laundry shelves/cabinetry, etc.! They hand crafted everything on site for my family and I, our house now feels like a home. I would definitely recommend John for carpentry work and I will be hiring him again in the near future, a house can always be spruced up. Hire him, I promise you won’t regret it!

We are building a new home and our contractor uses John Rourke for installing the doors and doing the trim work. John and Devon did wonderful work for our home! The electrical panel box was put right in the middle of a 10 foot wall you see when entering the house, I asked John to come up with something to hide it and he really came thru. He installed a beautiful modern paneled wall with one of the panels able to open for the electrical box ( a secret door)! We could not be any happier with their work. They even cleaned up after the job. Thank you both so much. Michele and Scott Campbell P.S. I for got to mention the beautiful beams they made for the 14 foot wood ceiling.

We can't say enough about the work John and his son, Devon completed for us. They installed LVT flooring in our kitchen and dining room, built a custom pantry, built a faux beam and completed our base/chair rail trim in one day. My wife and I just moved in our new home, and had ordered two custom made wall units from overseas to fit the chimney and the TV in the living room, as well as one of the bedrooms. We are so lucky to have picked John after going through the excellent reviews we read on Houzz.com, and we were not disappointed. He showed up on time, and despite the complicated assembly, he was able to figure it out and the final result came out perfect. Few of the qualities I liked about him, he’s experienced, conscientious, doesn’t cut corners, and even when in some instants he had to redo part of the work for a better result, he will not hesitate to do so. And when there was options in the assembly that were not clearly explained by the plans he would give you options and ask about the way we prefer to proceed and he will do it. I will not hire anyone else to do a carpentry work. And I would highly recommend him to anyone who needs a carpenter. Thank you John.

TLDR: I had a unique job without a lot of specifics. John helped leverage his experience to not only meet my expectations, but exceed those expectations. John and I communicated via text with quick responses, we worked out a plan from photos and measurements for the built-ins. He leveraged that information to provide a realistic estimate. He stopped by and did a quick review of the area to sure everything up. He arrived with part of the built-in's already constructed to cut down on the time it took to install. He worked throughout the day and took personal responsibility in ensuring the job was done at a high quality - the location of the built-in's had a lot of uneven areas and he made sure it was not noticeable. He cleaned up the work area before he left. I would highly recommend John as he is professional, responds quickly, experienced, and takes pride in the quality of his work. You won't be disappointed.

He came out a couple of times prior to starting at our request so that all of our questions were answered and we were all on the same page. John Rourke is a true professional at his craft! I hired John to complete numerous trim projects in my otherwise very basic home. Specifically, he installed 5” baseboard and quarter round throughout the entire home; built a custom two-person desk in our office; added shiplap in two bedrooms, gameroom, and around a fireplace; installed a custom wood mantle; built custom shelves in kitchen pantry; installed oak hardwood in stairs; added tongue and groove ceilings in a gameroom; built two custom beams in gameroom; added trim to multiple windows; and built out a custom bar with shelving, cabinets, down lighting, and a behind the glass mirror tv. John’s ability to think through a project, work with the homeowner’s ideas, make suggestions, and deliver a beautiful final product is unmatched. I can’t recommend John enough!

A quote for the project was give, which I thought was a very fare price. John show up on time, started the project and was finished in one day. John will definitely handle our next project. We contracted John to do two jobs for us apart from the initial job of installing the hardwood stairs & railings as well as all the molding on the ceilings and walls in our new home. We then got him to install the custom shelving in the walk-in closet. His latest job was to suggest a layout and install extra molding on three blank walls. All jobs were completed on time and in a very professional manner.
