Transform Renovations

I can’t comment on other reviews but this is our experience. Rod and Sarah made a good first impression. They seemed to appreciate our budget concerns and let us know that they would work with us to make sure we would be happy with our renovation. We only made it a few weeks into our renovation before the project was in complete disarray. The problems seemed to arise when we started asking questions about our renovations. We requested meetings with Transform and the sub-trades so we could understand the work being done to our house. Transform seemed to take this as an insult. These requests for meetings and information lead to the first time they yelled at us and stormed off the work site. Our house was completely demolished and we were very concerned. We requested weekly updates, these never happened. We asked for an updated project schedule and never received one. We emailed requests for information and were quite often sent snarky replies. This is when we started to look more closely at our contract and some of their claims. We were told (as is posted multiple places on their website) the following about their custom cabinets: “As a certified journeyman cabinetmaker, all custom cabinetry requests are built by Rod personally.” "Our in-house cabinet maker sources local materials and personally handcraft every piece with pride and precision." We even have an email from them that stated “Rod is not only the contractor, but a journeyman cabinet maker that custom builds to fit your needs.” I mention this only because as we came to find out drawers, cabinet doors and drawer fronts are all outsourced to a local mass cabinet producer. Had we been told this work was being done by someone else we would not have been concerned. As we were never informed it was outsourced we felt duped that we were not getting what had been repeatedly promised in person, in an email and on their website. The only time we actually found out the cabinets were mass produced is when we asked for a statement of account and saw the cabinet companies name listed. We also found it interesting that Transform’s website advertises a 2 year warranty and even a downloadable PDF of the 2 year warranty. Our contract stated a 1 year warranty. It is now just over 3 months since we terminated our contract with Transform. They currently have $184,762.97 CDN of our money and we have a demolished house, some electrical, plumbing, mechanical and framing done. They were also kind enough to leave 2 toilets and other garbage when the renovation bin was removed. We have 3 independent quantity surveys estimating the total amount of work completed almost $100K less than what Transform has received to date. Transform Renovations did an outstanding job on our complete home reno. Not only is the quality of work outstanding but they were on time even with our tight timeline! They didn't nickel and dime minor changes and the cost impact of more significant changes were clearly explained to us and agreed to before proceeding. I would definitely recommend Transform for anyone looking for a high-quality, on-time renovation at a fair price.

Transform Renovations were fantastic to work with. The level of quality and attention to detail met and exceeded our expectations. Rod and his team are exceptionally responsive and were able to fully bring our dream ensuite and main floor bathroom renovation dreams to life. Transform managed all the contractors, suppliers and took care of every detail. They have a great eye for design and current style trends while ensuring the highest degree of space utilization and functionality. We would certainly work with Rod and Transform again and will fully recommend them to our friends and neighbors.

We purchased a 1970s townhome as our first home, which luckily came way under budget and was a choice that gave us a spacious layout, great 70s features like original hardwood, and a location in an established neighbourhood -- just one problem -- some major upgrades were needed. We decided to use the rest of our budget to make this house a home. Rod really helped us bring everything up to date: a new furnace, a new hot water tank, a beautiful new kitchen, and a conversion of a half-bath to a full. We were really pleased with the outcome and the quality of the work. I would wholeheartedly recommend Transform, and would gladly work with them again for future renovations.

We found mold in our workout room. Transform renovations fixed the mold and found the leak. They redid our ceiling and walls. While they were there they fixed previous made holes in our walls and recommended to get our roof fixed. They were efficient and thorough with all of their work.
