About Us

Oak Mountain Custom Woodwork was founded by Scott Severns as a woodworking shop specializing in hand made furniture, cabinetry and millwork. Since its inception, Scott has brought his passion for woodworking into every project, working with each client on the design elements and functions of their piece. Whether a kitchen full of cabinets or a single piece of furniture, each item is an Oak Mountain original with hours of tireless focus invested into each design detail. Winner of the coveted Veneer Tech Craftsman's Challenge in 2015 for his skill in cabinetry; Scott's dedication to excellence earned one of the highest achievements in the world of woodworking, and continues to win praise from satisfied clients and business associates with each successful project. Scott often invites clients to visit the Oak Mountain shop and see their pieces being built. With no use of computerized equipment in the shop, those who've taken the opportunity get to see for themselves what handmade means and often find the experience enlightening. Handcrafting gives Scott the ability to control the subtle elements of each project, making every piece one of a kind.

Amazing craftsmanship! Scott took a lot of time Listening to what we wanted for our kitchen remodel, then incorporated them in his beautiful design. His creative custom work surpassed anything that we had looked at in the past. He was always an absolute pleasure to work with. From design to completion he did it all, still 3 years later if I have a question or issue he is still there for us. Thanks Scott!

We had a great experience with Scott from Oak Mountain, having contracted him to build us a 20+ foot bar and two custom contemporary built in cabinets for our basement project. Scott helped us every step of the way, from multiple design renderings to assistance with materials selection. His experience really showed and he was not afraid to work with new materials - the awards he has earned are very well deserved. We love our built-ins and the bar is absolutely stunning - a true show piece in our home now.

Scott built our beauitful fireplace surround. It is very ornate and has gorgeous detail. He did well beyond what we expected and it's truly a masterpiece and the focal point of our home. He is also designing and building our kitchen. Which will be our dream come true. It is a great pleasure to work with someone like Scott.

Scott worked on multiple projects in my home. He created the most beautiful project : a built in complete 20 foot wall unit with matching bookcases surrounding the fireplace and mantle. Spectacular!. It is made with Carpinthaen Elm and cherry. He won a national competition for his work- See it on his website at oak mountain. We liked it so much we hired him for multiple additional projects: a Bubinga bar, a theater stage, a coffered ceiling, a customized candy counter, etc. Scott is meticulous with his workmanship and will work with you to make your exact vision a reality- even if you only have a vague idea. He is a master woodworker and loves a challenge. He is also an artist and will create stunning pieces. Not only is he excellent at his craft, he is a professional and an all around nice person. I cannot say enough nice things about him. I recommend him to my friends and will definitely hire him again.

I've known Scott of Oak Mountain for about a year now. His passion for woodworking is obvious! He is always learning more, bettering himself, taking classes etc. to expand his techniques and knowledge of the craft. I have seen photos of his work in national publications, as well as in person, and its all beautiful. He will work with clients to give them exactly what they want. He isn't afraid to tackle something new and innovative. You won't be disappointed working with Scott of Oak Mountain.

Oak Mountain Custom Woodwork came to my house to discuss the custom wood deck railing project specs, needs and expectations. Recommendations were made on type of materials to be used and benefits and/or drawbacks. Creativity is a gift of Oak Mountain with a keen eye for what will or will not "work". Even for the most minute follow-ups, they respond immediately to make things right. They are not the most expensive nor the cheapest, however provide tremendous value for the money and effort spent by me the homeowner in hiring them.
