Scott Simpson Design + Build

We moved into the home of our dreams a couple of months ago, and it was thanks to Scott Simpson Design + Build ("SSDB") that our dream became a reality. From our very first meeting when we shared two potential parcels of land for SSDB to evaluate, the conversation was honest and pragmatic We chose SSDB after speaking to 3 other design build firms and speaking to a few architects. SSDB worked with us from "hopes and dreams" to reality. They were transparent about their process, use an effective platform to share updates, and they follow through on timelines. We had regular meetings (and had fun in those meetings!) with relevant members of the team depending on where we were in the process. They estimated realistic budgets and worked with us within ours, and as a result, we were able to align on expectations early. The architect, Sarah Gooden, GC, Tom Kenny, and Project Manager, TJ Floyd, were incredible partners. They continually leveraged each other's expertise to collaborate and make sure they felt as proud of the end result as we would. In the end, we can easily see that SSDB was fully invested in our creative vision, brought ideas for how to elevate it, and then truly brought it to life. Most people who visit comment on how thoughtful all the details are, and how the team really infused character in the home - something that is hard to do with new construction. Today, the whole team feels like family and when we walk through, we are reminded of the fun we had in creating our home in partnership with them, of the the craftsmen with whom SSDB have built relationships and who all left a lasting impression, and of the artistry and ingenuity that went into the place we call home. We would recommend SSDB any day, all day long.

Scott Simpson Design Build is the REAL deal. After purchasing a lot, we interviewed many builders to help design and execute on our new construction home in Evanston. From the outset, SSDB felt like family -- we could tell that they would provide expert guidance, superior craftsmanship, AND make what is often times a stressful process as enjoyable as possible. We couldn't be happier with our decision. Our home is a true reflection of our family and how we live, and is built to last. The whole team at SSDB was amazing to work with -- from the architects, to the design team, to the amazing GC, to the hilarious and hard-working Project Managers. We are so thankful to SSDB for bringing our dream home to life, and having a blast while we were at it!

exceptional. having completed 3 projects with scott simpson design + build (and nearing completion on a 4th) i cannot imagine building with any other firm. every step of the way, scott and his team exude integrity and excellence. he holds his team to the highest standards and surrounds himself with incredible architects and subs who stand by and support their work after the project is completed. additionally, scott is a great human being who is fun to be around. he makes the process as easy and stressless as possible. when you empower him to do what he does best, amazing projects take shape.

cott Simpson Design + Build worked with us from the initial idea of building a new home through home completion. They were a joy to work with; fully invested in making sure the project exceeded our expectations. We never had to mediate between the architect and the builder (often a problem when it's not a design/build firm), which allowed us to stay on budget and get what we wanted design-wise. The whole team was on the same page, and worked extremely well with their subcontractors. Monthly reporting was timely, accurate and reassuring. Weekly onsite progress meetings kept us apprised/informed, and we were able to make field adjustments as necessary in a timely way. The team routinely suggested interesting design ideas that now are enjoying daily. Now that we have been in the house for 2+ years, SSDB followthrough has been amazing, and we get compliments on our home pretty much everyday from people walking in the neighborhood. Can't recommend SSDB highly enough!

We absolutely LOVE our new remodel of our home! Working with SSDB has been a delight and couldn’t ask for more. The attention to detail of the home is impeccable and we loved picking out everything and working with our designer/architect. The complete transformation is amazing and now we feel like we’re on vacation living in downtown Chicago! We would highly recommend SSDB f you want great, quality workmanship.

Scott Simpson built our dream home in 2018. I don’t believe that a day doesn’t go by where my wife and I say how much we love our home. Our house is perfection. The Scott Simpson team of Scott, TK and Amy we can’t thank enough. Friends that come to visit are in awe and jealous of our home.

We wanted to share our experience building our dream home with Scott Simpson Design and Build. After interviewing several custom builders, we met with Scott and his team. We had an immediate connection and shortly thereafter we made the decision to design and build with them. We have been in our new home since 12/2020 and we could not be happier with the experience and the end results. From Amy and her design team, to Simpson partner Tom Kenny, who managed our project, everything exceeded our expectations. The design features, construction quality, and team dedication to our home's design and construction, couldn't have gone better. We recommend Scott Simpson Design/Build to anyone who wants the ultimate building experience and results!

We were fortunate enough to build our forever dream home last year. We spoke with a few builders and choose Scott Simpson Builders. It wasn’t a difficult choice!! After speaking with them we felt very comfortable that they had our best in interest in mind. They also built a couple of our friends homes and we saw their final product which is outstanding! They had so many ideas with our design that we would of never thought of that turned out awesome. The step by step process made us feel very comfortable and left no surprises with our budget. We feel so lucky to have worked with Simpson Builders and would highly recommend them to any of our family, friends, or anyone else!! John & Hilary Ross

We couldn't be happier with our entire experience designing and building our house with the Scott Simpson Design + Build team. The quality of workmanship from every one of their contractors was five-star. We love our new home and had and continue to have a great relationship with the SSDB crew from start to finish and beyond! I would recommend them without hesitation.

Our family absolutely loves the home that Scott Simpson Builders created for us! My wife and I purchased a lot in Wilmette and after thinking through our wants, needs and dreams for more than a year, we began to interview architects and builders. One very consistent theme quickly emerged from that process - everyone we met with and spoke to had nothing but very positive, constructive things to say about Scott Simpson Builders. After touring several of their prior projects, speaking to clients and sitting down with Scott, TK and Amy, the decision to hire them was easily made. Consistent with other reviewers, we fully agree that working with Scott Simpson Builders is a wonderfully collaborative process. Scott and Amy bring tremendous creativity to the team while TK keeps everyone honest about the realities of the process and ensures they will deliver a house on budget and on time (or early in our case)! Meanwhile, Kathleen keeps everything running smoothly. We looked forward to every meeting and opportunity to visit the construction site. The whole process was so much fun. Their great questions, suggestions, transparency and absolute attention to detail ensured that the final product would reflect both our needs and our style. The house is awesome! The Scott Simpson Builders team is professional, honest and hardworking and attract and hire only those tradesmen and subcontractors that can meet their exacting standards and share their strong principals. Even our neighbors were pleasantly surprised by the professionalism of the entire team as well as the cleanliness of the job site throughout the process. We do not hesitate to give them the highest recommendation and would certainly hire them again if we were to start the process over or build another home.

Craftmanship of the highest standard! I give my highest compliment to the entire crew at SSB for making our home so special and doing it with such thoughtfulness and love! My wife Bobbi and I had such a great experience that if we were to ever to build another home it would only be built by SSB! I can't say enough about the honesty and integrity of Scott, TK, Kathleen, and Tom. What a joy it was to work with them!

I can't say enough about Scott Simpson Builders. We built a custom home (the pictures are on Houzz) with them 4 years ago and already have added a large heated and cooled 3 seasons room and are now building out a cool, modern wine cellar. Their attention to detail and quality craftsmanship are second to none. Not only are they top notch professionals, but honest, hardworking and kind and so are all of their subcontractors. I wouldn't hesitate a second to recommend them to anyone wanting a truly custom, one of a kind, top quality home to spend a lifetime in.
