We had an amazing experience working with Scott and the Bouma team to create our dream lakehouse. From the first meeting, Scott was very transparent and detailed all of the expected costs and timelines etc., and we developed a great relationship and ultimately trusted them with every decision. Most importantly, the entire build was completed on time and on budget, and all costs and many pictures were uploaded to the app “Buildertrend” so that we could follow the costs and progress in real time. The quality of craftsmanship is at the highest level for the exterior and throughout the entire home. We had experience with renovations previously but designing and executing on the build of a future home was a first for us. Based on our discussions about style of home, Scott referred us to an architect, who designed the perfect Shingle Style home with cedar shakes and curved walls. Bouma was able to seamlessly implement changes and make suggestions when we wanted to make minor adjustments to the original plans. Erin also helped us narrow down the selections for tiles, paint colours, and the vision we had, getting to know our style and understanding what we would like. The support we received with every detail of the project, the choosing of materials, windows, fixtures etc. was made so much easier with the entire team. And they also followed up after the project was complete for minor repairs so that we were totally satisfied. We also had Bouma build a gym and sauna in the basement, and renovate the garage after our original build because all went so well and the relationships we built with the entire team were amazing. I typically do not like leaving reviews for anyone ... we have very high standards and expect a lot of our Contractors/Suppliers. However, our experience with Bouma was so above expectations that we simply needed to let any potential clients know what differentiates Bouma as a premium Custom Home Builder in the Chatham area. 1) Responsiveness - One of the top measurements for us is responsiveness ... from the beginning Scott Vandersluis was accessible. When challenges arose on the build (as they ultimately do) he has a calm, flexible approach which made the entire project less stressful every step of the way, particularly for my wife. 2) The Staff - Scott has some of the best people I have every encountered working for him ... they are not only skilled, they're attention to detail was second to none. The same could be said for all his sub trades without exception. This is unusual for a builder but we did not have one single issue that was not resolved in a timely manner, to our full satisfaction, with any of his people or trades. 3) Follow-Up - Scott's organizational skills are exceptional ... He always kept us informed of next steps ... he developed a schedule with milestone dates that were always respected ... if a section of the project was off schedule, he always informed us as to why and what remedial action he was taking to get back on track well before we asked. As a former ex Operational Senior Executive, I very much respected this very professional approach. Lastly, if you're looking for the cheapest Custom Builder in the area, you're not going to find it with Bouma ... However, if you're looking for best value for the dollar, an excellent professional experience along the way and a high quality home that you can be proud of, then Bouma is your best choice. We would do it all over again with Bouma if we were building another home!

Bouma Builders completed a major renovation for us, a complex job involving original and new construction on our midcentury home. We enjoyed working with them through the duration of the project and are delighted with the result of their work. A few things stand out as particular strengths: - Communication. We dealt extensively with Scott and Mike, and they were extremely responsive throughout the whole build. We asked a million questions and brought forward many design proposals, and they patiently and knowledgeably responded to each one. - Bench Strength. Working through the build, we learned just how many different skill sets are required to construct a quality home. The Bouma Builders crew is made up of several highly talented (and super nice) guys, and the sub-trades they work with are regarded as among the best in the area. Every trade that worked on the house, be it plumbing, electric, masonry, flooring, tile, finish carpentry, etc, was a true professional and it showed in the finished product. - Organization. The Bouma team was very organized and held to the schedule and budget for the build with great precision. We were back in the house precisely when they told us we would be and their cost estimates were very accurate. All along, we never had the feeling that progress was running behind or that we were being neglected in favour of another project. In summary, we are very happy clients of Bouma Builders and would recommend them to family, friends, and internet strangers. If you are looking for a team to partner with to construct your forever home, I'm not sure you can do better in our area than with Bouma.

Bouma Builders Inc, tackled a huge job renovating and adding on to our previous home , they completed this task Extremely Efficiently, remodeling and adding on to a our previous home. At the same time making it wheel chair accessible ,along with seeing our vision keeping it modern that we worked with Scott and Mike on paper with . Seeing our "Dream Home" come to life every week was so exciting . Bouma Builders exceeded our expectations every single tasks , questions , emails , texts , was answered , they were 100 % dead on with their timeline from starting day to completion! We hired Bouma Builders to build our retirement home. Mike and Scott did not disappoint. Their professionalism, home building expertise and attention to detail were evident start to finish and beyond move in. We were provided a schedule of the building process up front and contrary to what most expect when building a home, it remained on schedule.
