Shannon does great work. His crews are professional and he has good construction and remodel rates for the area. I would have no reservations about using him again for a remodel.

We’re a few months late posting this review because we wanted to wait until after peak rental season to see how everything held up - and after a fully booked summer with glowing guest feedback, we’re thrilled to recommend Shannon from Construction with Merritt. Shannon came highly recommended by other local owners, and he lived up to the hype. He completed a full remodel of our beach house in February, and we were out of state the entire time. Despite the distance, the process was seamless - Shannon kept us updated with photos, progress reports, and responsive communication. His quote was the most competitive we received, and the turnaround was impressively fast considering the scope. The work included three bathrooms, a kitchen refresh, custom-built bunks, interior painting, and a custom coffee bar. He even went above and beyond by repairing a few unexpected issues - all while staying on budget. Everything has held up beautifully, and the feedback from guests has been overwhelmingly positive. The upgrades have made a noticeable impact on both bookings and our nightly rate - we’ve been full all summer. Absolutely the best experience I have ever had in more than 40 years with any construction company. Without Shsnnon, the owner's, help, I would not have been able to complete the renovation of my unit. Shannon not only provided the most excellent construction that I've ever experienced, but he designed and insured the structural integrity of the entire building where my unit is located. My condo unit is beautiful because of his design suggestions and his help with restoring the subfloor, plumbing, electrical and many other areas that needed improvement. Construction with Merritt just completed a master shower renovation for us. We transitioned from a standard insert to a full tile shower with glass sliding door. Shannon was very easy to work with. He is very personable and always available for questions and advice. He worked with us on scheduling and helping out with pieces of the project we weren't sure about. I would definitely recommend his company!

Shannon with Merritt Construction is absolutely amazing! First of all, he was very patient with me because it took me a couple of years to actually pull the trigger on this project. I was nervous being an absentee owner and having someone I didn’t know do a complete renovation and partial remodel of my house. Little did I know that I had nothing to fear! In fact, I wish he lived in Baton Rouge so that he could help me with my home projects because he is just absolutely amazing. Did I say that already?! Shannon is a very thorough person who pays attention to every detail. I think he might actually have OCD because honest to goodness, he doesn’t miss a thing! He took care of my landscaping - added pine straw and trimmed my palm trees, even though this had absolutely nothing to do with my renovation. He even repaired my fence that was rotting in the backyard and reworked my outdoor rusty water meter box because it didn’t look good. He does not miss a thing! Oh, I think I said that already too – lol! Shannon is a fabulous communicator. He sent pictures and worked with my decorator. He involved me when I needed to be involved and left me alone when I didn’t, and that worked out great for me! Anytime I reached out, he was eager to chat and not at all put out or bothered to have to go over questions or details. The final outcome of the project is beyond my wildest imagination! Every surface of my house has been refreshed, including the scraping of ceilings, which I know is a very messy job. He converted a garage into a bedroom. He converted a laundry room into a bathroom. He really conceptualized our project so well and even came up with some super ideas that enhanced the project beyond what we had originally thought of. Hopefully he will post some pictures of the project because it is worth taking a look at! I would hire him again in a split second.

So thankful for Shannon and his crew. I’d received a handful of quotes much higher than I expected to pay and someone suggested I check out Merritt. They responded very quickly, they had a very fair price, they scheduled me quickly. We needed a full bathtub surround removed and replaced in a tight window between guests and they did exactly what they said they’d do, on time, clean, professional, etc… I’m very pleased and would highly recommend.

Shannon has done several complete remodels for me and always does an excellent job. I am an out of town homeowner so really needed someone I could trust. He stands behind his work and does great quality remodels.

Shannon and his team aim to please at every phase of remodeling. This project was initially undertaken with a home purchased “sight -unseen” with a move from Alaska. A complete home remodel updating a 2003 home to 2024 design and amenities. Shannon and team will look for areas to improve and make excellent suggestions. Shannon was a delight to work with! We did an entire house renovation including new bathrooms, kitchen, doors, floors, trim and removal of the dreaded "popcorn ceiling" . Shannon was extremely flexible and able to fine tune our vision during the process without the dreaded "change orders." His goal is for you to be happy with the end product. We hired Shannon based on his references to remodel our penthouse condo in Sandestin last winter while we were traveling outside the area. His professionalism and attention to detail exceeded our expectations. His upfront collaboration helped to develop a workplan that was creative and included a several concepts that he had included in other projects. During the renovation, he kept us posted through regular video and telephone updates. The final results exceeded our expectations and were within the budget that he initially projected. I had a deck added to the back of my house which required footings electrical and gas lines for my lighting, firepit and grill station. Permits are needed in my subdivision and Shannon worked directly to get this approved. He is diligent, professional and above all, honest! Years later the deck is still standing strong and I receive five star comments on the project. Great job Shannon.

We have worked with Shannon and his crew on two complete remodels. One 3 story home and a beach front condo. We plan on working with him again soon! We were most impressed with the attention to detail, professionalism, and the collaboration on the projects. Often, we would talk thru ideas or hurdles and come up with a plan that worked out better than the original idea. We had just bought a place in Miramar Beach in late 2020 and was introduced to Shannon by another contractor. From our first meeting we understood Shannon was not just a contractor but an artisan A guy who was fair with pricing and his word was his bond and he was one hell of a builder. I would hire him whether it was an easy or difficult job. And I have on both .. from removing a cabinet and outlets to tearing out old tile on floors and replacing with new…He’s precise regarding his work .. Bonus….. He communicates. He doesn’t have someone else returning your calls or concerns..
