About Us

Sharon Barrett Interiors has grown under the realization that despite being in one of the fastest growing areas in the nation, Middle Tennessee lacked a full service interior design firm with a fresh attitude and relaxed style that specialized in the many waterfront and rural properties in the area. Her experience makes her an expert in both the lifestyle that comes with these type homes and in the construction process, and an ideal partner when working with clients on a ground up construction. From conceptual phase to completion, she can work in tandem with architects, contractors and craftsmen seamlessly. The goal in new construction is to have a new home that feels like an established home with history that has been brought up to date rather than newly built. Once all the “bones” are in place during the planning phase, we make that new house a home. Our firm often works in the laid back style of the South and strives to provide a timeless foundation for clients as we discover and cultivate their own style. Sharon’s aesthetic can be summed up as: high end casual and highly functional. She finds influences in New Country, New England, Farmhouse, Coastal/Lakefront, Eclectic and Industrial and Modern Bohemian styles as well as drawing inspiration from the outdoors that she loves so much. This diversity lends a result that is unique and completely yours when the project is complete. Sharon’s designs tend to seamlessly transition from the inside out as many of the properties she designs are highly focused on outdoor living. Sharon’s designs reflect the passions and history of the homeowners; have timeless appeal and style that endures; designs that honor her clients past while allowing them to develop their own style as their circumstances and tastes evolve in the future. Sharon takes the time to get to know her clients…from how they grew up to challenges that are going on in the present to their loves and passions and uses this insight to design a truly unique, tailored and personal home, mixing in antiques with new furniture for a space that feels collected over time. Sharon helped us design not just main living area but whole home. She is excellent in working with the builder/contractors and helped make sure we didn’t have a “cookie cutter” design but one that reflected us personally and was very functional for our lifestyle. She is beyond just a designer to pick things she actually drew plans for some of our custom home features.

I was panicked to find the perfect layout for our small space/walk-out/master suite renovation. We knew every inch was important for our overall goals of including sleeping, storage, bath and a bar/kitchenette into our layout. Sharon met with us in our home and showed up prepared with several ideas to suit our needs. She helped us nail down several tricky transitions so we could get everything we wanted and most of all, what we knew was available - with the right set of eyes. Her experience with her own small space renovations gave me confidence and peace of mind. The sketches she provided for our bar and bath layouts were perfect to bring in design elements we really wanted to include with our own style. I think Sharon listens to her clients to find a solution for THEM - I never felt like she was trying to make me be like anyone else. If this review was one word it would be #trust.

I hired Sharon to help me choose paint colors for our new house construction, but after our first meeting, I knew I would use her knowledge and expertise throughout the entire process. Sharon gave me direction in small and large decisions alike, picking up on my style immediately. Her professional, but easy-going manner encouraged me to try new ideas while incorporating sentimental and existing items in my new home. The result is a warm and inviting home with special touches that say welcome.

We have lived in our rural home for 4 years and have not been able to decorate to our liking. We are not decorators by any stretch of the imagination. We know what we like but have absolutely no idea how to pull a room together. We hired Sharon for a 2-hour consultation to help us with our living room and kitchen. Never before had we hired an interior decorator, so we didn't know what to expect. Sharon was on-time, very affordable, professional, personable, and fun to work with. She made paint color recommendations, helped us pick out accessories (lighting, pillows, curtains, curtain rods, and wall decor), and rearranged existing furniture to really pull the spaces together. I loved the fact that she worked with the furniture we had and really took into account our two small children. The project is still a work in progress, but we confidently know now which direction we are heading. Time spent with her saved us tons of money. My only regret is that we did not find her sooner. Without reservation, I (and my husband) highly recommend Sharon, and we will absolutely use her again when we tackle other decorating projects in our home.

I love my new house! Sharon Barrett Interiors has been working with me since we moved in this Spring to decorate our home, and I am thrilled with the results. Sharon is very knowledgeable and has great ideas I would never have come up with on my own. Her upscale casual style has made our house a home and makes me happy every time I come in the door. Change isn't always easy, and I wanted my new Southern home to be light and bright, cozy and comfortable. I trusted Sharon to help me select paint colors, and purchase/install the decor throughout my house. She did a remarkable job of taking care of everything within budget, and saved me much time & money. I could never have done it myself.

Sharon did an excellent job while helping me renovate our house! Choosing to go a completely different direction in renovation and decor than what I was used to in the past, Sharon brought to light the colors and design I was looking for. She uses a professional easy to read paint program that saved me time in directing my painters to colors, brands, and finishes. Upon configuring room lay outs she used a very easy and professional program that allowed me and my husband to see furniture layout as well as furniture size. Great for a reference when purchasing furniture! When shopping for furniture or decor Sharon was just a text or phone call away. She always responded promptly to my messages and redirected me if I got distracted from original ideas (which I do a lot). She put organization into my busy disorganized world and saved me the anxiety of not knowing if my colors or design would flow. Thank you Sharon!

We first used Sharon at our previous home we were frustrated with our attempts at decorating the home. Sharon came in and It just came together with such ease. She can just walk into a room and see its potential. We are in the process of building our new home and she is such a great help with everything. We have consulted Sharon on everything from the outside colors and material choices to the light fixtures floors even the ceiling heights. She is such a joy to work with and her vision is remarkable. We wouldn't attempt any type of remodel or decorating project without Sharon. We are just getting started with this project I'm sure Sharon will post pics as we progress

Sharon recently consulted on an update to our living, dining and eat-in kitchen area. We have a smaller home and some challenging spaces. The project started when I secured several oil paintings that my mother, who recently passed away, created over her lifetime. I knew I wanted to incorporate these into my living spaces and Sharon helped me develop a vision that worked them into our home. During the process, she provided us with a complete plan that included paint color, a built-in designed for the eat-in-kitchen area, furniture and layout suggestions, color and accessory ideas. She provided picture concepts and my husband and I did the shopping. Sharon also provided us with contractor recommendations who turned out to be professional and reasonably priced. We are thrilled with how everything turned out. At the end of the project, Sharon came back to our home and helped us place the pictures which put the final touches on the changed spaces. I was initially a little intimated by the thought of bringing a "designer" into our modest home. Sharon was so easy to work with, quick to respond and openly listened to all of our needs. I would do it all over again!

Sharon provided consultation services for redecorating my large Family Room. I had not used an Interior Designer prior to Sharon. She was extremily helpful in making suggestions that fit into my budget and into the vision I had for this room. Sharon's ability to offer practical solutions to problem areas allowed me to make use of items that I already had, thus saving money. Sharon provided several resources for the items she suggested. Sharon's warmth and personality made this a wonderful experience. I will consult Sharon again when needed.

I thought I could never afford an interior designer. My modest budget didn't allow the complete design services that Sharon Barrett Interiors can provide but I could easily manage 3 hours of consultation with Sharon. This was just what I needed to get on the right track renovating my living spaces. Her incredible design insight could interpret my personality and style and translate it to design elements and touches that fit me like a glove. These ideas transformed my divided, outdated, awkward living spaces into a welcoming, functional, people friendly area. Sharon, with her keen sense of color, chose relaxing colors of nature that I just love. I am extremely please with her ideas and I highly recommend Sharon Barrett Interiors.
