Shaun is a master craftsman that created two beautiful and high quality landscape bridges for our property. He is wonderful to work with,professional, prompt, knowledgeable and quite skilled. Our bridges will be there for generations to come! He is a hard worker and such an interesting person to discuss ideas with. We couldn't have been more pleased with the quality of his work!! He is all around great to work with!

Summer of 2015 I hired Koru Landscaping to devise solutions to improve drainage around the perimeter of my house as well as plant a large maple tree, remove unwanted vegetation, and install rock landscaping. Throughout the project the owner of Koru Landscaping, Shaun Smith, was consistently pleasant to work with and was always thinking ahead to the next phase of the project to insure a smooth workflow and keep the project moving towards completion. When unforeseen obstacles arose, Shaun was quick to come up with creative solutions to overcome the obstacles. I have worked with several contractors over the years and Koru Landscaping, specifically Shaun Smith, was one of the most professional I have personally worked with. Should future projects arise, I would not hesitate to hire Koru Landscaping again.

We hired Koru last summer to design and build a deck that would join our north-facing and east-facing porches. He offered a couple of options, and one was a clear winner for us. He was able to source eco-friendly materials in the color and style we needed to complement the existing porches and yet still give us an updated look. He added an "L" shaped built in bench for dining, and a pergola for a little relief from the afternoon sun as well. The best thing I can say is that we spend part of every day out there! Shaun was a pleasure to work with, and we are delighted with our new outdoor space.

Shaun Smith is the ultimate professional. The quality of his work is second to none. His 3D software program enabled us to virtually see the finished project through the design phase from every angle. His work as well as his subcontractors' work was done in a timely manner and kept clean and tidy throughout the three month process. Our project included erecting a wood pavilion (with skylights) over a raised deck surrounded by flagstone and a smaller pavilion over a built-in grill. We thoroughly enjoy every meal in the summer in our new backyard. We highly recommend Koru Landscaping.

Exceptional focus to detail for initial concept, reviewed all layout, landscaping and planting materials. This was a new move in which involved sprinkler system, sod, both sides of the yard (with slanted hill design), rock/concrete pavers used for stairs. Also included rock layout, plants, shrubbery and trees for landscaping the outer area of the yard.

Shaun and the guys did a very thorough, professional job with a tear out, water mitigation and building of a new beautiful front deck for our house. He worked well with our budget, was courteous and respectful of our concerns, and highly meticulous in his work. I would recommend and will be using them again!

Installed french drain, timbered steps, and fence posts at a small cottage. Offered several effective solutions to problems that had not yet been addressed in my rough plan. Was timely, efficient and a pleasure to work with.

We had a ne deck installed and asked Koru to landscape the surrounding area once the construction work had finished. They created an outdoor living area for us that opened up and area that previously we could not us. On time, on budget and hard working, say no more!

Shaun and his crew created landscaping around our home that was not only beautiful, but provided protection and mitigation from possible wildfires. Shaun was creative, personable and a joy to work with.

We used Koru Landscape to redo our front yard about 5 years ago. Shaun and his crew tore out or existing yard and created a beautiful xeric garden. I wanted a low maintenance, low water use garden. He turned our typical suburban front yard into a three dimensional beauty. We used several large boulders that he allowed me to help him select individually from the stone yard. He built a moderate berm at street level which we planted with tall grasses giving privacy. We added blooming perennials for color. He built a curved low stone wall and graveled area that opens up from the house. He built a beautiful flagstone walk straight up to the front porch which gives a welcoming approach to the house (instead of the typical cement coming off the driveway). I hardly ever have to water, there is no turf to cut and we get constant complements even after all these years. Shaun is a delight to work with and there are probably less expensive landscapers out there but Koru will give you something unique and lasting.

“Transformational” was the word my neighbor to the south used to describe the impact of the new landscape that Shaun, owner of Koru Landscapes, installed at my house in Boulder, Colorado. It’s not the word I normally associate with landscaping, but it captured the mood, the feeling, the effect of Shaun’s work. The previous landscaping, even in its first days and since long neglected, could not compare to the new installation. The functional and dramatic Colorado Buff stone walkway perfectly matched the blonde brick of the house and rugged topography that is Colorado. Dramatic, large, moss-covered boulders bring in dimension and contrast to the green turf that creates visual appeal and separates the small upper tier turf from the small lower tiered turf to handle the slope from the front of the house to the street. The boulders also provided endless fun for the three and five year old kids across the street; an unintended, but delightful feature of the landscape. Imitation is the greatest form of flattery. Shortly after Shaun installed the landscape, my neighbor to the north, who rents to a group of young adults?, modified his landscaping tying into the large moss covered boulders Shaun used to anchor the shrub and flower bed installation. In the following years after the installation, others on the street made varying degrees of improvement to their landscapes arguably prompted the work did on the installation. The only input Shaun got from me was to ‘incorporate a little turf into the design’ as a nod to my East Coast upbringing and even though water is expensive. Koru is the Maori symbol based on the spiral shape of an unfolding fern. It represents new life, growth, strength and peace. I can say Shaun’s installation represented all of those things.
