Working with Spencer-Abbott was a great experience. I found them to be professional and experienced. Their craftmenship and careing for the project was exceptional. I found them to be approachable and willing to answer any question or concern that I had.They were curtoius and friendly to our family and always cleaned up, making a challenging renovation quite manageable . I would and have hired them to do additional work. They are also dog friendly.

Following the suggestion of our architect, my wife and I contacted and met with Nick Tighe with Spencer-Abbott to review our particular remodeling plans/drawings and his portfolio. Our project required the complete gutting of our kitchen, the installation of custom cabinetry and millwork in the Kitchen as well as our homes central hall, living room and library. In addition, complex plaster work, hardwood floor repair and old-new blending was required to maintain the integrity of our home's original, 100 year old architecture and patina. Projects of this sort are guaranteed to find surprises, problems/costs not anticipated, and opportunities to expand the scope of what is tackled - that while adding expense, make sense if able to be accomplished without expanding too much the overall plan and completion timeline. Net/net we found Spencer-Abbott to be a very reliable contractor. Through the ups and downs of any project (coordinating electricians, plumbers, roofers, painters, cabinet makers, etc) Nick Tighe was able to hold things together, keep the project moving and make sure we knew what to expect. Nick Tighe was very thorough in the documentation of our project and provided us extensive details in our billing statements. These were very helpful as our project scope changed from time to time. We were, and are, very pleased with the outcome of our project. Spencer-Abbott's craftsmanship is first rate. It is nearly impossible to tell that anything was changed/updated in our house if you were not familiar with the "before." I highly recommend Nick's carpenters. They were exacting in their work and were patient with my own attention to detail and high expectations. Spencer-Abbott will be at the top of list when we consider additional improvements to our home.

Spencer-Abbott has done many projects for us. They built an addition in 2001 and a barn in 2011. I could not have been happier with their professionalism and the quality of their workmanship. I had received a recommendation for Spencer-Abbott from a friend of mine who had hired them to do some renovation/restoration work. My husband and I were looking into updating our bathroom but wanted a reliable company that wasn't going to yank our chain in terms of project length (we had a bad experience with another company when we were renovating our barn). We met with Nick and discussed some of the things we wanted to do in the bathroom and some of our concerns. He was very well mannered, explained the process, and even offered some of suggestions, one of which involved our shower that we absolutely loved. Within a week or two we had the actual proposal, which was around $35k. The entire process was very smooth and easy. Everyone was polite and respectable and Nick was always just a phone call away. If we brought any issues to attention they were remedied swiftly, and the project was finished within the proposed timeframe. Overall, I recommend Spencer-Abbott for any house project you plan on doing. Not only are you paying for quality service and material, you're also paying for reliability.

When we started our builder search for our new home, we quickly narrowed the field to a few well known custom builders. After touring many homes completed or renovated by all of these fine craftsman, we settled on Spencer-Abbott. Frankly, it was a bit of a risk because while being well known in the historic restoration world, Spencer-Abbott had done very few new homes. The decision wasn’t made on price or on schedule, it was made on chemistry and the instinct that working with Nick’s team would be a satisfying experience. In the end and to this day, we could not be more pleased with our decision. Not only has the final product exceeded our expectations, the ongoing service from Spencer-Abbott has been exceptional. We would recommend Spencer-Abbott without reservation.

Spencer Abbott has been the contractor of choice for two additions to our home, both fairly extensive in scope. Even with the disruption caused by a major home renovation, Spencer Abbott made the experience a positive one. They bring a sensitivity to historical detail, paired with excellence in craftsmanship. Their pricing is fair and their work meticulous. All of their sub-contractors are carefully vetted and meet the same high standards.
