My husband and I were building our first house and really needed some help and direction on choosing paint colors. We received Tamara's name from a friend who raved about her work and she was 100% right. Tamara spent time with us walking the entire house and helping us organize our thoughts on paint colors. She helped us view different color palettes in different rooms and lighting to help us create a gorgeous but cozy home. We left the paint consultation feeling very excited to see our new walls painted the colors we envisioned for our home. Our painter did an amazing job and we are IN LOVE with all of our paint choices!! As we now make furniture decisions, it has been fun to see how the wall colors really show off the room. My favorite is, of course, the dining room as I wanted a dramatic room but Tamara also suggested painting the ceiling of that room a different color and it came out perfectly. We ended up taking that Islandic color from the ceiling and using it in the powder room as well. It was a great choice. We cannot say enough wonderful things about her work! Highly recommend!

As an architect, I work with interior designers all of the time. When my wife and I decided to re-do our interiors after (empty-nesting) we looked for someone who could imagine our tastes (Danish modern) and communicate those effectively for my wife (who is a very "visual" person). Tamara quickly zeroed-in on what we were trying to achieve and created a plan that we followed to the interior design of our dreams. We highly recommend.

I want to start out by saying that I had never used an interior decorator before and was more than a little wary. I had heard other people have issues where the interior decorator made the space what they thought it should be and not what the person had wanted. We had a general idea of what we wanted, we just wanted someone else to come in with a fresh perspective and help us make intelligent choices with our plans. She came to our house and walked through each room, made suggestions and then she had me send photos of what I envisioned for the remodel. After my very first planning meeting with Tamara Heather Interior Design, my fears were relieved. She is very professional, organized, and thorough. I could tell that she really listened to my opinions and she captured my personality in all aspects of the designs. Her design layouts and mood boards were completely on track with my vision. I wanted to be very hands on with the decisions of products for my home, so she set up meetings at local showrooms to go and pick out the various products for my home. She was very patient with me and I am sure at times that I was not the easiest client she has ever had. Anytime something came up all I had to do was call and Tamara would handle the situation or help me to resolve it. I hired Tamara to help me coordinate two types of wood - cabinets and floors - in a new kitchen we were building. I was struggling on my own and felt like professional help would save me a headache. However, I found so much more in Tamara! She gave me confidence and peace of mind that my kitchen would be just the way I would like it. Without Tamara, I would be lost in the sea of choices available not only on the product market, but architectural interior design options. The process of the kitchen design started with general ideas and my vision. I had to do some homework. Then Tamara listened very carefully and took note of all I had to say and incorporated it into the final design. She also suggested small yet stylistically significant details that give my kitchen the feel and the look I was longing for. Selection of hardware, tiles, light fixtures was a breeze because Tamara narrowed down my choices to a manageable size. I would really like to mention how easy kitchen cabinet selection was. Tamara and I spent 1-1.5 hours at the kitchen cabinet place. Poof! Done! All of this was possible because of the preliminary thinking and planning we did together. I was very impressed that our plan passed the strictest inspection by the kitchen cabinet maker - he did not find one single fault with the kitchen elevation plans! Overall, I would say that every penny I spent on the services were very much worth it. It is hard to bring your vision forward while dealing with men who do not necessarily see things the way women do. My goals for the kitchen were durability, cost-quality balance, and aesthetic appeal. With Tamara I found a person who listened to me, who was attentive to what I had to say to bring my vision to life. I sleep soundly and have tremendous confidence that my kitchen will look the way I see it. All of this while preserving my time, effort, and sanity for other work I have do to during the construction.

I hired Tamara to help me re-design our living room. It's a long vertical room with several windows, doors and a fireplace to work around, and I didn't feel like we had ever made good use of the room or its space. My tastes run in the contemporary/eclectic range, and I thought/hoped Tamara would be a good fit because of the contemporary/modern look of her other work on Houzz. I was very pleased with Tamara and thrilled with my new living room! Based on the few existing items I wanted to keep in the living room (a rug and some paintings), Tamara came up with two potential floorpan layouts that my husband and I voted on, as well as a color palette to use for wall color and new furnishings. For the most part, I used her floorpan and the color palette to purchase many of the the items needed myself and used Tamara's expertise and connections for the larger items (a new sectional and a large built-in cabinet with glass doors). Once we had her finalized floorpan and color palette, I just paid her an hourly rate for her help and she passed along all her professional discounts to me - much appreciated! A big part of my comfort in working with Tamara is her unique combination of taste, perception and good business practices. She was quickly able to understand my likes and dislikes as well as our lifestyle, and come up with a design and plan that suits us. Not too formal but very distinctive, and kept in mind all furniture would be shared by our cats. She's sensitive to budget and thorough and timely with her estimates and billing. You don't have to be doing a $100,000+ renovation to use and benefit from Tamara's services. I would highly recommend her to anyone needing a little non-threatening help from a design professional!
