THORCRAFT designed and installed our kitchen, bar, large center island, master and two guest bath cabinet(s)/ry when we built our log home. We were thrilled with the craftsmanship, beauty and install mastery. Most recently, we decided to take our mounted TV off our stone fireplace chimney chase and asked Ken Zimmerman to help us brainstorm a TV cabinet in our main room without many options. Ken took our ideas and created the most beautiful cabinet. It was installed and scribed into our stone fireplace by their masterful installers. We love it! We did a complete kitchen remodel in 2018. Our contractor had worked with Ken Zimmerman many times in the past and recommended him for this job. Ken was wonderful to work with. He helped problem solve an area that was an issue and it worked out great. I asked to have a "drop zone" built where we stash things like mail, keys, phones and chargers. Gave him a picture of what I had in mind, and it turned out perfect. The workmanship of the cabinets is exquisite. We needed a new kitchen to fit a very special 1899 Craftsman Style mansion. Thorcraft's owner, Ken Zimmerman, directed our project himself and, for as busy as he was, he always treated us like we were the most important customers he ever had. Though we altered the plans a dozen times, Ken kept finding a way to make the inches add up while keeping the whole of it in balance. We were at the showroom and in the cabinet shop often, and everyone we met at Thorcraft - to a person - was sharp, professional, and gracious. We wanted the new kitchen to fit with the beautifully preserved old wood in the rest of our house. We used quarter-sawn white oak and inset doors. Thorcraft went to great effort experimenting with stains to get the color we wanted, to the point of using real shellac in one of the varnish layers to match the glow of original oak pocket doors. Ken copied artistic elements from our home's unique staircase and incorporated them into the cabinets to make a near seamless transition from the formal entry and dining room into the new kitchen. The installers were particularly skilled and meticulous. And when we weren't quite satisfied on a few things, this company went to work and didn't quit until they got it perfect. We built this kitchen to entertain and we've had hundreds of people go through it in the past year. People have asked in astonishment, "Is this the original kitchen?" Many have said, "This kitchen looks like it's been here since the house was built." Thorcraft created exactly the impression we wanted our guests to feel. We were so very fortunate to be able to work with Thorcraft for our new home's kitchen and bathroom cabinetry. We designed our cabinetry with help from Daryl, who began by showing us their shop and showroom. It was so neat to see the cabinets being custom made right before our eyes - in went beautiful pieces of wood, out came lovely cabinets! Their shop was full of craftsmen who were clearly experienced and focused on what they were doing. I had a very specific idea of what I wanted in terms of style, and it was wonderful to be able to describe design features and show photos and have the answer be, "No problem, we can do that". For example, we ended up adding a recess in our kitchen island for a certain model of garbage can, which was no issue at all because everything is completely made to order. Daryl was very helpful in suggesting different solutions that I hadn't considered and did a wonderful job of finalizing our layout and adding useful storage. When I suggested an idea, he clearly "got it" right away and quickly turned my thoughts into a plan. The kitchen is a joy to use - solid, quality cabinets, great hardware (soft close everything!), and the layout feels just right. Our bathroom cabinets are so very stylish and one of a kind. We worked with many different people during our new build, and Thorcraft stands out as a first-class operation.

Every part of our project with Thorcraft was a dream. They drove the 2.5 hours to the Minneapolis area to take measurements and talk through our kitchen needs. I had a specific vision, and Thorcraft patiently revised our plans probably close to a dozen times until it was exactly what we wanted. Their installers were professional and detailed, and resolved issues in a timely manner. The cabinets themselves are beautiful and high quality. And the price was extremely reasonable, especially when you consider that the pulls and all trim were included in the price upfront. The total cost, including installation was the same price I received from Home Depot for just cabinets (no inserts, pulls, trim or installation), and we were also happy to support a small business.
