Studio 810 Design/Build

We recently finished a remodeling project with Studio 810, involving kitchen, laundry, bathroom, sunroom and hardscape. Though it took longer than planned, the results are stunning! A major transformation with a design that not only complements our hundred year old house, but actually enhances it and will allow us to remain in our home as we age. Owner-architect Tim Strosser is hands-on, detail-oriented and easy to work with. His team does impeccable work on all fronts, from structural needs to high grade carpentry to hardscape and even painting and surface finishes. Quality of this type is hard to come by in today’s market where just getting it done seems to be more common. Any problems that came up were capably handled. My wife and I are thrilled with the end result. If there was any shortcoming, it was the extra time it took to tie up the loose ends and finish the last 5% of the project. The people associated With Timothy Strosser, Studio 810 Design, were wonderful to deal with. Tim did a fabulous job redesigning the outside of my house. I have received so many compliments with the finished product. All the workers associated with carrying out the roof, siding, deck,stonework, walkways, etc were top notch in executing their trades. They were also respectful to me and answered my questions whenever I had any. This is important to me, being that I am a widow and I trusted them completely. If I ever had a question or concern, the staff and Tim responded immediately. I would highly recommend Tim and his staff.

Studio 810 was an exceptional partner to work with. I use “partner” instead of “contractor” or “vendor” because we truly felt like we were in this together through every challenge. Our project was a significant one: adding a second-story master suite and completing a full exterior update (transforming brick to stone, installing new siding, moving windows, and refreshing paint). Tim and his team handled everything—from design challenges to subcontractor issues and old-house quirks—with professionalism and care. I’ll miss seeing Tim’s smiling face bouncing into my kitchen! "The boys," as I came to call Vince, Tommy, and Matt, were incredible. They were polite, punctual, and clean, and they always ensured we were involved in decisions, even on the smallest details. Judy, who managed the office, is a gem. She responded quickly to every question and was an amazing support throughout. I was thrilled to hug her in person when she visited the site! One thing that sets Studio 810 apart is Tim’s process. He breaks the project into three phases with separate contracts, giving flexibility to align before moving forward. This approach showed us that he valued earning our trust at every step. What initially sold me on Studio 810 was Tim’s thoroughness during our first meeting. He walked through the entire home to assess the job, crawling into tight spaces and inspecting every detail. That upfront effort saved us from costly change orders later. While most of the process was seamless, there are a few things I wish I’d handled differently. The designs are hand-drawn, which made adjustments more time-consuming. Because of this, I hesitated to request changes and now feel the bathroom is too large, while the master bedroom could be bigger. A beam in the wall also caused window spacing issues in the master bedroom—something that was on the plans but didn’t register until I saw it in practice. These were lessons learned for me: speak up early if something doesn’t feel right. Even with these minor regrets, the experience was fantastic. We stayed close to budget, and Tim was always available by phone when needed. The entire team became like family during the year-long project. I can’t recommend Studio 810 enough. While I’ll miss having them around, I’m thrilled to enjoy the incredible results of their hard work.

Our recently finished basement has become our favorite space in our house. We had at least two contractors ghost us after walking through our original 1930s unfinished basement. A couple months later, I tried again after seeing Tim's pictures on Houzz of his basement work. He did a walk through and I was immediately smitten with his ability to discuss both the engineering side of things and the design potential. He saw our basement as the challenge it was but was excited to rise to that challenge. As a woman, I appreciated that he treated me as an equal and we often had brainstorming sessions to overcome especially stubborn obstacles. As I was on a work sabbatical during the time they were here, his crew became like part of our extended family and I felt very comfortable sharing my space with them. He was always upfront about the cost of each part of the process so I there were no surprises at the end of the project. He did things by the book, ensuring that they were done right and within code. After the project ended, we had an issue pop up that was the result of a decision we (both Tim and I) made during the remodel. Unlike what you might expect with some contractors after a project is considered done, Tim was immediately responsive and working with us to find a solution at no additional cost. Finally, I have to give a shout out to his office manager, Judy. She was so helpful during the design phase when we were selecting different elements and just was fun to work with. Overall, working with Studio 810, Tim, and his crew was a very positive experience and I would do it again in a heartbeat. Kitchen remodel Tim?

Tim as an architect: My wife and I bought a 23 acre property in April of 2021 and spent a while talking to different architects to begin the process of building our dream home. We eventually came across Studio 810 and met with Tim in person and felt like we had finally found someone that understood what we were looking for while also showing true passion for the project. When we went over Tims profile we didn't see anything that had the type of style we were going for. He made it clear to us that it was important to trust him as an architect when it comes to capturing what the customer wants. We may not have liked the style of some of his past projects but the important thing is each of those customers loved them and that's what makes a great architect. We came to Tim with a long list of what we were looking for and he nailed it. The layout was exactly what we were going for and the drawings showing the front and back of the house were exceptional! We were blown away and could finally see our forever home. Tim as a builder: Luckily for us Tim was also able to bid on the project as a builder. This was another plus because usually things get lost in translation as another builder interprets what the architect had envisioned, We felt fully confident in Tims abilities to make it come to life and decided to move forward with the process and eventually broke ground in December 2021. 2022 was probably the most challenging year on record for builders because of the number of supply issues distributors faced. Thankfully for us Tim managed to navigate the tricky landscape better than most. There were obviously some delays along the way but nothing major that held up the project for weeks. We asked a million questions throughout the build which Tim took the time to answer and made us more knowledge of the process and better home owners in the end. The most important thing is there was mature communication between us and him the entire time. It was okay if we voiced our disapproval of something during construction and okay for him to push back on some of our ideas that may not have been very well thought out. That to us is the most important piece of the puzzle when starting a project like this. Fast forward to today...we are now sitting here writing this in our brand new house that looks even better than the drawing and could not be happier! Watching our forever home come to life is something we'll never forget and we have Tim and his guys to thank for it.

Tim designed our basement project which included a full bath, kitchen and widened widows and doors. We are very pleased with how it turned out and it is now our favorite space in the house. We liked the design so much we are working With Tim on a new project currently. Highly recommend!

Our house desperately needed a "face lift" from a 1950's feel to more of an estate presence. Timothy created a design beyond our expectations. As a result, we are in the process of implementing the design.

Tim did a wonderful job finishing our attic. He listened my ideas and turned the space into something even better than I had imagined. I am very satisfied.

Tim is great! We hired him for a small job however like many projects it ballooned on us. Timothy did a fantastic job of rolling with it and is very accommodating to us. His knowledge base is frankly unbelievable. He is so on top of all the codes and knows all the local inspectors that it has made everything smooth. I highly recommend him.

We really enjoyed working with Tim and Studio 810. Tim’s years of experience and “artistic eye” give him an advantage over other builders. He was able to hone in on our interests and design something that was absolutely special. It was so fun working with him because he was truly excited about our dream home. My husband and I have hired Studio 810 for several projects in our home spanning the past 10 years. Most recently we renovated our 60+ year old kitchen. The project reached into the laundry and a guest bedroom and bath. Timothy did an excellent job with design; he is very creative and capable of solving space problems and maximizing efficiency. He listened to EXACTLY what I wanted in my new kitchen--- and accomplished just that. Studio 810 works with a professional team of craftspeople that do amazing work. We hired Tim Strosser of Studio 810 Design for a major renovation and expansion of our home. He worked with us from design and blueprints through decorating. I hired Studio 810 to remodel my family room and to design my backyard into a backyard oasis. Timothy Strosser and his team were extremely professional and went out of their way to meet the needs of my family. I loved how they used organic material and took in consideration the usefulness and what objects what looked like at different angles. Timothy was also always available (beyond usual business day hours) to discuss ideas and he has an innate ability to understand what you want and actually give you more. Studio 810 demonstrated high work ethic and dedication and I was highly impressed. I have received numerous compliments on my family room and out door area (which is my sanctuary and retreat). My family recently remodeled most of our first floor, which included a complete gut job of the kitchen. We extended it into the old dining room making it twice as large, reworked an unused room into a new office space and redid floors throughout. Tim at Studio810 showed his expertise from the first time we sat down with him. Very friendly and flexible, he has been very easy to work with. He was able to clearly understand exactly what we wanted almost better than what we did when we first came to him. His designs were creative and met all our needs and then some. He was able to easily adjust on the fly if needed based on things that came up on site, and it was some of those quick, last minute details that delighted us the most. For example, we opened up the stairwell to the basement to create a more open feel, but had not really discussed the fact that the basement was unfinished. We quickly decided to move the door to the basement to the bottom of the steps and turned the unfinished builder grade pine steps that could have been an eyesore into a beautiful ebony colored feature piece. If we needed to talk through anything that was going on, or make any changes to what we wanted along the way, he was always willing to talk and easy to get ahold of, even on evenings or weekends. Overall a great experience and we plan to work with him again in the future on several other projects including a master suite renovation and facelift for the front of our house.

We have been thinking about a wine cellar for a long time. Upon meeting Tim Strosser, Studio 810 at the Lancaster Home show we decided to continue with our plan. Tim was as excited about the project as we were. He presented us with a set of plans that was more than we imagined. We were anxious to get started with the project. The project was started on time. Tim was very creative and worked with us the whole time. All persons involved with the cellar construction were very professional. Wine cellar was completed on schedule. Work area was cleaned and we were able to enjoy a vessel of wine in our new wine cellar. We highly recommend Studio 810 and would certainly use them for any future home improvements. Timothy is a true professional. He is very talented. We previously had a very bad experience with a stucco remediation contractor who left our home in a condition that most bank repo's don't even look as bad. To say we were gun shy was to put it mildly. Timothy came in and gave us hope and a total redesign of our home's exterior. He has been patient with us and moved at the speed we were able to push forward. We have had to implement our design in several stages since our original contractor left with our money and our dreams. WE can't recommend Timothy enough. He was able to capture our style and reinfuse our dreams for our forever home. He was always available to us when we needed input for color selection to the type of products to use. Although using someone of this caliper may seem costly. The results far outweigh the costs. We love Timothy and will use him on future projects and designs. If money were no object, he would be a permanent residential designer for every inch of our home!

I am always impressed with Studio 810. The high quality of designs is something that I haven't gotten anywhere else. They pay great attention to detail and create amazing curb appeal. I would recommend them to anyone!

We initiated a large home remodel/addition by contracting a drafter to draw our building plans. The project included re-siding the entire house with James Hardie fiber cement siding to include hardiplank, hardishingle and harditrim as well as asphalt and standing seem metal roofing. The drafter provided several finish design renderings, none of which felt/looked correct in flow, balance or color. My contractor was pressuring me for decisions so he could order the siding to keep the project on track. I scoured the internet for days attempting to fix and decide on the design myself only to realize I needed help from someone trained in design. At a recommendation of a friend, I searched for a local designer through Houzz. Without any references, I took a chance and contacted Studio 810 Design. Within a 5 minute phone conversation Tim gave me the confidence that he was the guy for the job. He had prior engagments the coming days but suggested we meet before work (6am) in his studio to review my project before his scheduled day started. I brought my drawings, shared my concerns and asked countless questions during our hour meeting. Not only did Tim have solutions and answers to all my questions, he had sound reasons for them that I could tell came from his formal training and experience. He asked if he could work on it that night for 1-2 hours and get back to me with a hand drawn design in the morning. He delivered as promised and hit a home run on the very first layout. It amazed me how balanced it was, how much it made sense and how it was exactly what I was looking for in the design. You could tell he listend to my desires and knew exactly what I was after. Three hours of time from Tim eliminated all of my worries and fustrations. I wish I would have started with Studio 810 on the design which would have saved significant fees from the drafter and countless hours surfing the internet. I can't say enough about Tim's flexability and willingness to help on such short notice and his talent for delivering exactly what I wanted the first time. Both my wife and I are thrilled with the result and we would certainly start with Studio 810 should we build another home in the future.

I randomly found Tim from Studio 810 while browsing pictures here on Houzz. We previously had plans drawn by another designer for the second phase of our home renovation. These were drawn a few years ago and in the time since we started feeling that we weren't going to be happy with those plans. We wanted the house to display much better curb appeal and although we didn't really need any more space, we felt the only way to accomplish that was to add on, again. After attempting to create every thinkable design on my own, I finally broke down and called Tim. I was immediately impressed with Tim's responsiveness. When Tim came to look at the house, it was apparent that he is a true "designer", someone who looks not only at the aesthetics, but the function and feel as well. Within minutes, Tim was able to identify many of our design problems. These were things we probably subconsciously thought, but never identified ourselves. After that meeting, Tim promptly put a design together. When we first saw it, we were floored. We couldn't believe that Tim was able to make our home look so much better. We are so excited to start construction and would highly recommend Studio 810 without hesitation. I know there are other designers, but I have not found any that match Tim's Strosser's overall design sense and skill.

We knew that having Timothy Strosser and Studio 810 remodel our basement would be amazing, but we NEVER could have imagined JUST HOW AMAZING it would be. To put it simply: we can't even call it a "basement" anymore! My brother jokingly refers to it as, "the lower level", because it is just too beautiful to be called a basement. It is absolutely the most gorgeous part of our house, yet the COMFIEST part of our house, as well! This is where we want to spend all of our time. Never did I think something like this could actually belong to us, and we just feel so richly blessed. Our basement became a beautiful family room, with a stunning, yet functional office; and an unbelievable rec / gaming area for our children that we are so thankful to be able to give them! We have a fantastic exercise area that is hidden by a beautiful screen - so as to keep with the beautiful open floor plan, but still making that area private! It is details like this that makes Timothy just stand out! He knew my love for Tuscan decor, and just transformed this entire floor into a Tuscan paradise, yet in such an understated, classy, fabulous way. So many incredible details! He considered everything, not only the cosmetic, and the result was just more than we could ever have asked for. In addition to the one-in-a-million Timothy, every contact we had, every person we worked with was top-notch: the office staff, carpenters, electrician, EVERYONE! Respectful and tremendous. Timothy obviously requires everyone who works with him to have the same honorable standards that he has. Another huge point is Studio 810's, "Service after the Sale", so to speak. Any question we had, even if it ended up unrelated to Tim's work, was answered immediately. We wholeheartedly recommend Studio 810 to all. We have been working with Studio 810 Design for the last 2 months as we plan an open concept kitchen remodel. We have been very impressed with how Tim's design has captured our vision for our home. We are writing to wholeheartedly recommend Timothy (Tim) Strosser of Studio 810 Design as a designer and general contractor for home improvement. In 2012, we met Tim at the Philadelphia Home Show, and were impressed by Tim’s portfolio of previous designs and building projects. On his first visit to our home in the Philadelphia suburbs Tim impressed us again with his instant understanding of our home improvement needs. We wanted to build a new bathroom in a little-used space that was attached to our master bedroom, but Tim suggested a much better solution; building an addition to the house’s second floor, and placing the bathroom in it. This way we got a fabulously looking new master bathroom that is an envy of our friends and neighbors, and avoided a mistake of building a bathroom that would be to small and not convenient. Timothy also designed and built for us a mudroom in front of our house, completely redesigned and rebuilt our patio, and changed the siding all around the house. We are very satisfied with the quality of his design and workmanship of his crew. Tim is a very experienced project manager, and he worked hard to accommodate our specific requirements during the project and to adjust all the logistics accordingly. He was able to keep the project deadlines despite very unfavorable weather conditions, the climax of which was Hurricane Sandy. During the project we occasionally changed our mind regarding some details (e.g., selection of tiles), and Tim was always ready to either accept our new ideas or, when they were not practical, offer very good alternatives. During the project we developed a trusting, friendly relationship with Timothy and many of his crew members. We were so satisfied with our collaboration with Tim that, after the first big project was completed, we tasked him with a couple of smaller projects in our house (e.g., staircase renovation), and outside (landscaping). We are sure that, with his great artistic taste, his extensive technical experience, and his understanding of individual clients’ characters and preferences, Timothy can exceed expectations of the most demanding clients.
