Phil’s professionalism made our home construction as positive and painless as a project of this size can be. We built a home from the ground up and it was an incredible experience. Our 3 story, 2400 sq. ft home with a rooftop deck, 4 balconies and four floor dumbwaiter is one of downtown’s most exceptional homes. Phil was on time, on budget, and kept the project moving forward. Phil was great! We had a small, 1000sqft 2/1 house just south of Curtis Park that was built in 1927. Our kids were growing fast so we decided to add on a master bedroom and bath so our kids could each have their own room and we could have our own bathroom for once (haha)! We added 420sqft. There were no closets before the remodel. Now the master has a walk-in and each of the boys rooms have substantial closets. Phil was always very responsive to our questions and completed the project in a very reasonable time frame considering all the supply chain shortages going on. Phil always had the next portion of the project lined up in advance so there was hardly any downtime between phases of the project. His subs were very professional and great at their craft. Framers, plumbers, tile, electricians, and hardwood floor guys were all awesome. Hardwood floors were blended seamlessly with the existing floors. The whole thing was completed from start to finish in about 3 1/2 months. At this point it is hard to remember how the house looked before because the old space transitions perfectly with the new addition. We really couldn't be happier. Now we have a little oasis away from the boys!

Hiline has done 3 projects for us. A kitchen remodel, a bathroom remodel and interior door replacement. All 3 went smoothly. In all 3 cases the work was completed early, or on time, and there were no "surprise" costs. We have an older house (1946) and Phil always rolled with whatever the house threw at him.

Buying a house in my favorite neighborhood was a retirement dream. While fortunate to find the worst house in the neighborhood at the best price I was faced with renovation. After interviewing at least 10 contractors I met with Phil Vanderloo of Hiline Builders and sensed the level of the honesty, knowledge, flexibility and commitment I was hoping to find. The house was built in 1970 and having grown up in the 70’s I was flooded with memories from things like the light fixtures, door hardware and avocado kitchen appliances. Phil was respectful of what I wanted to remain unchanged and his advice as to what was needed to pass inspection was invaluable. He always remained flexible and understood my need to keep the soul of the house intact. In the end, what started as a 3 bathroom and kitchen renovation grew to a full house 2 year remodel and, thanks to his 34 years of experience in the business, his scope of knowledge and skills allowed me to complete a redo of the outdoor space. Throughout each phase I found Mr. Vanderloo extremely organized, efficient and skilled at keeping everything on a timeline for material scheduling and subcontractors. I’ll have to acknowledge here that the limiting factory with finishing the entire project within a shorter time frame was due to my needs. His standard was to answer all communication promptly which kept me reasonably calm throughout. He was also an excellent resource for where to donate unused items to avoid waste and taught me green options along the way which was very important to me. From concept to completion my experience with Mr. Vanderloo has been grounded in trust and mutual respect as we transformed a house into a home that embraces myself, my family and is welcoming to friends and neighbors.

Hiline did an excellent job on our house! We were told once it was our turn, had to wait until another job was finished, we would have no interruptions and boy was that true. The crew was awesome, there everyday and did a great job. Very friendly and work with any changes that came along. It was great to know we were the only house being worked on and not just a number.

Hiline Builders worked to correct work that another company botched in multiple areas in our home. Everyone they sent, from texturizer, painter, electrician, carpenter, HVAC, tile guy, and plumber, did work that was so much better than the previous company. Not only was the quality of the work they did outstanding, they were professionals at all times. They took care to protect our home while they did their work and did more than we'd asked them to do. All of them were genuinely nice guys who cared about the quality of the work they do. We ended up with a more beautiful home with ALL the problem areas expertly handled. Hiline Builders is a superior company, and I would recommend them to anyone. The owner (Phil) clearly knows what he's doing and hires great people to get the job done right!

Phil Vanderloo of Hiline Builders was an excellent resource for us as we completed a master suite re-model. He was very helpful with suggestions and support and kept a tight timeline. The sub-contractors he worked with were very professional and did a great job. I would recommend him for anyone looking for a contractor. He was very friendly and helpful and his crew did excellent work. He also helped us create a bonus room that was previously a garage. We were able to add about 700 square feet to our property with his help.

I had complete trust and confidence in Phil to complete my 900 sq ft addition and he did not let me down. The addition blends in beautifully with the existing structure. Phil was very responsive to any questions I had and offered good suggestions for products and vendors to talk to. Phil and his subs were very professional and easy to work with. The constructio phase of the project was amazingly fast.

Phil helped us with a bathroom remodel and a 500 sq. ft. addition of TV room and beautiful art studio. He was supremely reliable! When he said he'd be on site, he always was. His subcontractors were skillful, polite, and efficient and the entire job was done in record time! He's absolutely the best contractor we've ever worked with and we recommend him without hesitation!

We looked for a contractor to take out to help out with remodel of our downstairs. The job consisted of taking 5 Windows out and installing a Anderson A Series 15 foot slider. We also wanted to take out two other walls one between our kitchen / living room ( Which was non-weight bearing). There other wall we took out was a major weight bearing wall between our dining / living room. They installed a 18 foot header as well reinforced the foundation due to the extra weight in the corners since it was in the middle of the house. I highly recommend Phil from Hiline Builders he has been great to work with and has done a excellent job at our house and reasonably priced. They finished on time and were extremely flexible and able to work on weekends since we needed the job finished quickly. Phil was able to sub contract small things like electrical and sheet rock and everything went extremely well.

Phil Vanderloo is a complete professional, a great guy and a pleasure to work with. I wanted to update my kitchen by installing LED can lighting in the high slanted ceiling, paint the cabinets and install a hood over the cook top. Phi suggested lowering the ceiling, installed the lights, found a excellent painter and installed a beautiful stainless hood at a great price. We had a written contract and Phil and his crew were always on time and cleaned up daily. Phil also found other pros who did a great job in updating my dining room and painting cabinets in my bathrooms. I am so pleased with the process and the final project that I would hire him again and have recommended him to my friends. I give him my highest recommendation.
