I hired Shelly and Curate Designs to help me with a primary bathroom remodel. Shelly is easy to work with, always available with thoughtful feedback to any questions you may have. She has a vision for your space and is good about working with you on likes and dislikes. I knew the look and colors I was going for but needed help putting it all together. My biggest concern was my space being too dark and although the floor space is darker than before, it has become my favorite part of the bathroom. With Shelly's knowledge and expertise, she created a perfectly blended bathroom. A darker than before (yikes!) floor with light, crisp walls has not only made the room feel lighter and brighter but also more spacious. I put my trust in her with this and so glad I did. Shelly is quick and confident in her ability to create the space you have envisioned in your mind. Color blending, textures. fixtures and mixed metals. She does it all with ease and enthusiasm. Shelly is also very good at working closely with your contractor to get all the measurements correct, fixtures and tile in their correct place, upgraded and/or added lighting where needed, outlet placements and light switches. I can't recommend Shelly enough. You won't be disappointed.

Shelly immediately understood the character of my space, but more importantly, she understood how I wanted to live in it. She took my initial ideas and refined them into something far more cohesive, comfortable, and livable than I could have envisioned on my own. Her use of color, texture, and pattern completely transformed the apartment while still keeping it timeless and appropriate to the architecture. Every decision felt thoughtful and intentional. She has an exceptional ability to balance sophistication with warmth, and style with practicality — which is much harder to achieve than most people realize. What impressed me most was that she never lost sight of the bigger picture. She guided the project with creativity, discipline, and realism, helping me make smart long-term decisions without letting the process become overwhelming or financially excessive. The end result feels elevated, personal, and genuinely reflective of me — while still remaining within budget.

Shelly was our interior designer for a complete remodel of our house in 2023-2024. She helped us with the selection of material and colors as well as the designs of all the bathrooms etc. It was easy to work with her. She made it easy for us to make decisions on all fronts. There were some decisions that she made for us which were bolder than our normal choices but she came through with flying colors. Overall, we were very pleased with the look and feel of our new house. In summary, working with Shelly was an awesome experience. We give her all the credit when we get compliments for our new house.

I had a great experience working with Shelly at Curate Designs on my Monterey condo kitchen and bathroom renovations. She has a great eye for design and picked up on my style and preferences really quickly, even when I could not always explain exactly what I was looking for. She worked within my budget and was super responsive whenever I had questions or needed input. She was also great about spending time with me to look at options when I was available. When my schedule got busy, she was able to take the lead and select things that matched my style without me needing to be there in person. Her services are very reasonably priced, and I felt like I got excellent value for the money. She also stayed involved during the construction phase and worked directly with the contractor when issues came up, helping to talk through options and come up with solid solutions.

Thanks to Shelly at Curate Designs, we are so happy with our kitchen and dining room remodel! Our goal was to modernize and open up the space while maintaining a warm and functional environment and Shelly helped us make it a reality. Our general contractor recommended Curate and we are so glad they did. We were becoming overwhelmed by endless amounts of time at showrooms and on Pinterest. Shelly was patient, organized and creative. She listened carefully to us, stepped us through the design process, accompanied us to showrooms, offering suggestions and helped us make decisions with confidence. Her attention to detail and aesthetic was fantastic throughout the whole process–including during the construction, ensuring the end product was exactly what we had designed and envisioned. Now that it's all done, we are so happy with the transformation. It feels like “us”, just better. We enjoy having family and friends over–and getting all the positive comments from them .

We really enjoyed working with CURATE on our bathroom remodels. Shelly was excellent at understanding our needs and bringing our vision to life. She was also great at helping narrow choices so that the process wasn't too overwhelming. We absolutely love the end result and would be thrilled to work with Shelly again.

We took on completely gutting and remodeling our two bathrooms as well as updating our kitchen and turning our living room into a dining room. We knew we wanted a cohesive design theme throughout our house, but we were afraid of making the wrong choices. We hired Shelly with Curate Design and are very glad we did! Shelly did a fantastic job of taking our design layouts as well as some of her own and creating slide decks for us to really be able to see what our home could look like. With so many decisions to be made we were grateful to Shelly for helping to narrow down the overwhelming number of options and present us with tiles, flooring, paint colors, cabinetry, furniture, rugs, and window treatments that worked beautifully together. Shelly’s knowledge and expertise of the many large and small decisions that needed to be made during construction were invaluable. She worked well with our contractor which helped to keep the project completion on time. We are thrilled with how our home turned out. We now have two beautiful bathrooms, a gorgeous updated kitchen, and a sophisticated and elegant dining room. Best of all the design style of these spaces work beautifully together. It’s exactly what we wanted and we truly are thankful to have had Shelly’s amazing talents to help make it happen.

Shelly has been very helpful in decorating my home. My house was completely ready when I moved in. She was on top of all the task in timely manner. I am very with her services.

I would not hesitate to recommend Shelly for bringing your space together and honoring what appeals to you! Shelly communicated well, was knowledgeable about the different processes involved and taught me a lot along the way! Shelly helped pick out flooring, whole house interior paint colors and bring styled pieces to several rooms. Shelly was also able to help coordinate with different craftsmen in the area to meet our needs. I would consider her first in future projects- easy to work with and gets the job done!

This is my second review for Curate. After the fantastic result we achieved on the interior of our house we worked with Shelly on the exterior paint design and color selection. I am so happy with the result that I can't stop smiling. We had been living for over 10 years with a color and design that we were not crazy about but was just ok. Shelly helped us through the process of color selection and encouraged us to try the different selections in different areas and different weather. Shelly helped us avoid a number of pitfalls and made sure the end result was polished in every detail, went with the style of the house and was coherent with the inside. But with all that, the most important thing was that the end result was what we wanted but something we never could have achieved without her.

Shelly did a great job for us. We were repainting a large single story open plan house and redoing the entire floor in hardwood. After years of drab walls we really wanted to get a lot of color in and end up with a beachy, coastal vibe, but weren't sure how to go about it with the open plan and one room flowing into another. Just to make things even harder, we had a tight timeframe because we had a hard deadline for completion coming right up. We could not be happier with the result. Everyone who comes in comments on how beautiful and bright and fresh it looks. And the best part is it looks like what WE had in mind and the themes we were thinking of . Shelly was easy to work with and spent some time up front looking at pictures and colors I liked and drew from that. Since she knew we wanted a lot of color she helped us be confident and go for it. She brought options to the table we wouldn't have been aware of and helped us by defining how to navigate all those difficult transitions in an open plan layout. We have had previous not-so-happy experiences with designers so this was pleasure. I guess the proof is that we have engaged her on two additional projects.

I had a bad leak in my dining/kitchen that required us to remodel the space. I highly recommend working with Shelly. She is approachable and made an enormous difference designing our space. As a working parent I get overwhelmed with choices and sequences of items especially when also working with insurance. Shelly helped us design a beautiful functional space which has made a huge impact! She is able to think of small details that I would never have considered to optimize form & design.
