I interviewed three companies to build a sizable retaining wall, extend my stairway, level my backyard and lay turf. It was clear from the beginning Cornerstone was the company for the job. John, the owner, spent time studying my runoff and erosion problems, asked excellent questions regarding my preferences, and built a wall that is the envy of my neighbors. Workers were tidy and vigilant in their labor, products from the stone to the turf are top quality and the entire process was the most seemless I've ever had with a major building project. I wish I had known of Cornerstone years ago. From beginning to end I was made aware of every step in the process. Especially as a single woman, I felt safe and well served. I am already planning more projects due to the success and ease of this one.

We had an excellent experience working with John and his company, Cornerstone North Texas Builders on a large, multi-phase remodel that included our kitchen, laundry room, doors, exterior and partial interior painting, as well as a custom outdoor kitchen and living space. John is an amazing builder, worked with me on a total new build, and I would use him again! I was expecting stress, a new build often can be, but it was an amazing experience, for sure some stress here and there, John always had my back, and I really would build again with him!

It was a pleasure working with John Newton and his team at Cornerstone North Texas Builders, LLC. They completed a full interior renovation of our 3,800 s.f. house in just over three months including demo, painted the entire inside of the house (multiple paint colors), installed new flooring (including stairs), new doors, new lighting, dealt with multiple electrical considerations, installed new plumbing fixtures, accomplished significant finish carpentry, moved some walls, prepared for the installation of a large sliding wall, and added a covered/screened in porch on the back of the house. When we first thought about purchasing a fixer-upper, I was worried that I would be burning the midnight oil doing a lot of the renovations myself in addition to working a full time job. John accompanied us on a walk-through before we closed on the sale, and his years of experience plus can-do approach to what we wanted to change was relieving, and he was exactly the partner we needed for this home project. It gave us the confidence to close on the house and actually knock down those walls! This home was being designed to last our family a lifetime, so we needed a contractor who would treat the project like his own family's home. That's what we got! In addition, John was extremely reasonable in the way he honestly estimated the costs and design opportunities at every crossroads we came to. He made it feel like we were working with a friend. John obviously does this because he's good at it and likes it, not because he's building an empire and a big business. You will feel important (not passed off to anyone else), yet you will also have access to a well-connected all-around good guy. The vendors connected to Cornerstone were fun to work with whenever I would visit the job site. One of the worries I have historically had with construction workers or contractors is wondering how honest they are being with me. It can feel like a sales game out there! I have to say, that was never a feeling I had with John/Cornerstone. I always recommend John because he's like the "impossible to find HONEST contractor!" I'm so glad we had John's help orchestrating our home renovation. My neighbors have been working on the same type of renovation and it's taken them more than twice as long with the general contractor they used. Hats off to John and his vendors! I've recommended them to friends, and I even got the chance to see one of our friend's project after Cornerstone finished it last month. It looks incredible! Just as professional as our home! In 2024, My wife and I engaged Cornerstone North Texas Builders to do a kitchen remodel “down to the studs” including updated design, all new custom cabinets, backsplash, lighting, utilities, and appliances. We selected Cornerstone after interviewing a range of remodeling companies. Within minutes of meeting John Newton, we knew we wanted to work with John as he quickly helped us pull our ideas together and demonstrated a clear understanding of our goals, vision and budget. Throughout the process, the subcontractors used by Cornerstone were professional craftsmen who took pride in their work, were friendly, dependable, and kept the project on schedule. We were provided the opportunity to sit down in a showroom with a design expert to design our new custom cabinets who was focused on quality and meeting our individualized needs and budget. John maintained a close eye on all aspects of the project and did a remarkable job maintaining quality, sharing professional guidance, and ensuring we were on time and on budget. At no time during the project did we have any concerns or worries, creating a totally stress-free experience throughout the duration. From the beginning to end, we had complete trust in John’s integrity, experience, and knowledge of construction. Communication was excellent and we were kept aware of what tasks would be occurring over the next few days allowing us to go about our schedule with minimal inconvenience. In the end, the project was completed on schedule and on budget with a level of quality that far exceeded our expectations. In the future, I will not hesitate to engage Cornerstone North Texas Builders for any significant home remodeling needs.

Cornerstone did a phenomenal job on our kitchen remodel. John is great to work with and helped us work through some design questions/options and did a great job coordinating workers schedules with our availability. The end result was exactly what we were hoping for!

Five stars for John Newton at Cornerstone - he is a true professional and committed to doing the job right. This was the first home we've ever built, and John made the entire process a great success for us. He offered valuable advice on design, style, and construction, and was very hands-on during the entire build. He patiently answered all our questions, and helped us make good decisions by offering a range of options. He was always available for us, and communicated the ins and outs of home construction in understandable terms. He patiently ran interference for us with the city, which seemed to have a never-ending list of required permits and inspections and were often slow to respond, despite his having everything done correctly and submitted in a timely manner. His group of sub-contractors have been with him for a long time, and all of them did great work under his watchful eye. Excepting fluctuations in some materials costs, which were entirely beyond his control, his budget was right on target and we could not be happier with our new home. We've already recommended him without reservation to another couple looking to build in our neighborhood, and we would not hesitate to do so again.

We’ve built two houses with John at Cornerstones, and I cannot imagine building a house with another builder. Our experience with John has been top-both both times, and I would highly recommend him to anyone! He makes the process easy and stress free! Their attention to detail is what makes all the difference.

My wife & I could not be more pleased with our new home. From the first time we met with John Newton & his father to discuss the plans until they handed us the keys to our completed home, they were a joy to work with. John took the plans drawn up by our architect & found creative ways to make them better while saving us money. Some of our requests were a challenge but John always found a way to make our dreams come true. The quality of the work along with John's willingness to go above and beyond to make sure my wife was happy with our home is greatly appreciated. Though we intend this to be our final home, if we ever build another, John will be the one to build it.

My favorite contractor ever! John does great quality work with attention to detail. He did a major remodel for us in our kitchen and living areas a few years ago and just recently remodeled two bathrooms. He took care of our home in the process and is so easy to work with. We have worked with several different subs and contractors over the years and John is by far the best we have worked with. I highly recommend.

I recommend John Newton without reservation. He did a fantastic job on a major remodel for me. My favorite thing about working with John is that there is never a problem he can't solve. John was able to find a creative/cost effective solution to every issue that came up. He also does a fantastic job of keeping a close eye on all of his subcontractors and he is very good about communicating and staying in touch. He's been in business for many years and has great resources and tradespeople that do quality work. It is so important to have an honest, trustworthy, reliable and capable builder... John is all of those things and more.

Cornerstone North Texas Builders built our home in 2016. I cannot say enough about what a pleasure it was to work with John on our home. He is honest, trustworthy and reliable. He is a family man who is strong in his faith. John was always available to answer any questions we had during the process, whether is was by phone, text or email. What is most impressive is that even almost 5 years later, he is still answers any questions we have! The quality of work he and his contractors provided was top notch. I'm not going to say there were no issues arise, because honestly when you are building, there is usually something that happens. What I can say is that John made sure everything was corrected and finished to his standards and ours. There were no shortcuts. There were a few times I presented John with some options we were thinking of that were out of the ordinary, and he welcomed them and made the ideas come to life. John Newton of Cornerstone Builders recently built us a home in Weatherford, TX. We could not be more pleased!! John is a man of high integrity. He is a family man, trustworthy, and very intent on making everything right! John is extremely reliable, which is important in the building process. He answers emails, texts and is regularly on site. Having a talented builder is a real plus. He leveled dirt on a tractor, dabbled in a couple plumbing projects, installed appliances and much more. He even cut a metal hanging candle holder that I wanted to hang in a niche; it was just a tad bit too large. He has been in the profession long enough to have selected some outstanding contractors. We feel that we had the "best of the best" plumbers, electricians, tile layers, carpenters, etc. I don't think we will be moving from this gorgeous home, but If we did need to downsize or move for any reason, John would be building us another home!
