Bathroom Remodel

A great eye! While not inexpensive, if you are nearing the end of your choices for your project and are unsure or do not feel confident about a go-ahead with your contractor, Ralene would be a great resource to you and costly mistakes could be avoided. I got an excellent resource from her as well for my bedroom sheers. If I need more help on carpet selection and furniture choices, I will probably be contacting her again.

Working with Ralene has been an absolute pleasure. Our goal was to “undo” the modern updates in our home and restore character—leaning into an upscale, traditional, warm, moody look that still felt cozy and lived-in. She truly nailed it. She listened closely to our preferences, respected the elements that were non-negotiable (like our kitchen backsplash), and then elevated everything with design ideas we never would have come up with on our own. Her creativity, attention to detail, and willingness to go back to the drawing board when something didn’t feel quite right made the entire process smooth and enjoyable. Ralene had done some small projects on my old house so I knew when I bought a new build last year I had to have her help me design my great room. Coordinating a kitchen, dining room, and living room was more than I could handle. She knew my style and pushed me to elevate and expand what I even thought possible. When the opportunity presented itself to move into our desired retirement community, we sold our home of 32 years and took advantage of it. We knew our furniture would be too large for our new one bedroom apartment. Since we had not bought furniture in over 25 years, we decided to treat ourselves to all new furnishings. We realized the smart move would be to contact an interior designer for assistance. Ralene Simmons was the perfect fit for us. Her friendly, open manner made it a joy to work with her. Ralene listened to our desires around color schemes, furniture styles and accompanying decor items. She made helpful suggestions and we always felt she was working toward achieving the look and feel we wanted for our new home. We had concerns about ordering furniture without actually sitting on it first, but Ralene did an amazing job of finding just the right firmness and comfort of chairs and sofa based on our descriptions. Ralene always kept us informed on the progress of our furniture orders, especially whenever there were supply-line snags. I've had the pleasure of photographing Ralene's interior design projects over the past year or so, and I have so many things that I could say. As a photographer, you're witnessing the home as the clients are living in it, and get a behind-the-scenes peek of what the client-designer relationship is like. Ralene guided us through our selections for our kitchen and en suite bathroom. She listened to our input and made herself available to meet with all of the vendors and contractor. The outcome is better than we could have imagined. We were able to work closely with Ralene to select key items for our space to make it a whole package - tile, countertops, hardware and plumbing. The kitchen feels more open and usable with the addition of customized cabinetry and drawers that allows for better flow in the kitchen and into the dining area. We love the picket tile that continues up and around our large garden window. It is such a stunning area to see! Our bathroom is now a spacious and airy retreat with beautiful arabesque tile and porcelain shower walls/countertop. The highlight is the "carpet" of herringbone tile surrounded by a rectangular border. We highly recommend Ralene and her design services when it comes to a remodel of a kitchen or bathroom.

Fireplace surround and Built-ins

I partnered with Ralene Simmons Interiors to build a fireplace surround and built-in bookcase based on their design. The project was in an older existing home in Seattle, and the design perfectly bridged the old and the new, resulting in a gorgeous outcome for the client. This design firm has a great understanding of how to marry a design with its surrounding space, and I was provided a great design plan to work from. Raylene also collaborated very effectively whenever I had questions. I can confidently recommend Raylene Simmons Interiors. Great experience.

We recently had the pleasure of working with Ralene to redesign our living room. We started with a blank slate—no furniture, no window treatments, old lighting fixtures, etc. One of our biggest challenges was redesigning the fireplace wall, which required custom carpentry work. Ralene came up with an excellent design that matched the style of the home. She communicated with the carpenter throughout the project to ensure that the work matched the design. Ralene was incredibly easy to work with. She kept us up to date throughout the months-long project, and was able to work around some delays in our contractors’ schedules. She asked the right questions to get a sense of our style and came up with an excellent design. Her furniture and lighting selections were spot-on. We love spending time in our new living room.
