Philip Petrino Interior Design

My husband and I hired Philip to design and decorate a total renovation of both our Main Line home and our shore house including kitchens, bathrooms and other living spaces. Philip is incredible with space planning and is fabulously creative with all aspects of interior design. He can turn a confined space with lots of walls into an open, inviting living area with such ease. He is very resourceful with the vendors that he uses which are all top flight without the outrageous price tags. He is very conscious of budget and does not pressure you into buying things that are outside your comfort zone. He was exceptionally responsive both while the renovations were going on and even after the work was completed. We so enjoyed working with Philip on both projects and we absolutely love him and our homes. We highly recommend Philip. He is the best!

We have worked with Philip for over fifteen years on multiple projects with scopes both large and small, ranging from complete kitchen and bath remodeling to accessorizing rooms. Philip,worked with us on two occasions, the first was an extensive renovation to our house, including a bump out addition and renovation of our kitchen and family room. The results were incredible. Philip combined our dreams and vision with his innovative ideas. He also had a unique and wonderful perspective to renovating our daughters' bedrooms and providing more space. We happily worked with him again when we renovated our own bedroom and bathroom and were just as happy with the results.

Houzz requires me to list month/years, so I'm listing the most recent date, but I first started hiring Philip Petrino in about 2007, and am currently working with him on a porch/front entryway project that is not yet complete. I'm picking an estimated total cost range that would include Philip's services and those of the contractor(s). Philip is courteous, responsive, and gives thoughtful advice. He really listens to me, and strives to stay within (or under) my budget, helping me to decide how and where to spend vs. save. He is generous wirh his knowledge and very personable. I referred Philip to a friend who hired him for a major project and she has told me more than once how much she enjoyed working with him and how happy she is with the results.

Philip Petrino has provided invaluable guidance and suggestions for my home and three offices over a period of many years. His talent is extraordinary. One might expect take-over control or pushiness from an interior designer who has such a keen eye. However, this is not the case with Philip Petrino. He accommodates and is never overbearing. He will express him opinion clearly but is never insistent. He is always good humored and a pleasure to work with. My experience is that he can accurately understand and translate a feel or a vision or an effect that I wish to accomplish. His eye for color choices is particularly excellent. There have been times when I have not always envisioned a finished effect when we first discuss something. However, the motto in my family now is "Philip is always right". By this I mean we learned that his creativity and ability to bring about the final look I want trumps an alternative I would think would be the right thing to do. I have received countless positive comments and compliments on my home and each of the offices he has been so instrumental in designing. He is modest, honest, and reliable. His suggestions inevitably incorporate good budgeting limits. A valuable plus is that he works so well coordinating with contractors and suppliers. Even the contractors have made positive comments to me about his choices and suggestions. I have engaged Philip Petrino for all of my interior design needs for years not because he is slow. But as things have come up, I always return to him.

I cannot recommend Philip Petrino enough to potential clients. He is extremely knowledgable and passionate about interior design. His professional life is using that knowledge and experience to serve his clients in a partnership to create beautiful spaces. He listens and learns about your design aesthetic and then helps create rooms that express that aesthetic in the best possible way. Philip also has access to terrific resources. Philip has designed and implemented design for three of our houses. Each project was different and the results on all three were spectacular. His use of space, his use of color, and his incorporation of architectural detail in each room has created a great blend of both comfort and the wow factor. Almost 20 years ago Philip designed the kitchen of our English cottage style home. The home was built in 1927. Philip's design was beautiful and completely in keeping with the aesthetics of the home while incorporating modern and useful additions such as opening the back stairwell to bring in more light and focus on the beautiful, original casement windows. After selling our cottage style home, Philip then redesigned the kitchen and first floor of our Minnesota mid-century ranch. He did a magnificent job! Opening rooms to make the first floor completely open so that the gorgeous landscape has become a room in itself. Next project, a New Hampshire vacation home--can't wait to see Philip's design genius at work again!

Philip Petrino was the designer, space planner, on site coordinator with the General Contractor and all of his Subcontractors who built our beach house at the Jersey shore.
