A job relocation moved us from Northern California to the Chicago area. We bought a beautiful new home in the Northwest suburb of Hawthorn Woods. What we loved about our new home were all of the big windows. Now our dilemma - what type of window coverings would let in the natural light and open feeling, but still give us our privacy when needed? When we asked the design consultant that built our home (Icon Building Group) they recommended Diane Sherman owner of Windows By Diane without hesitation. Diane met with us soon after we moved in, barely unpacked and not a single picture hung. Our previous home had Hunter Douglas custom wood shutters, but we wanted this home to have a more modern feel. Diane began by getting to know us, and asked us questions about our style and what we wanted the window coverings to accomplish. Diane is an expert on the Hunter Douglas product line and the latest innovations especially the Smart technology. She was able to visualize what we wanted and based on the interior paint color, countertops, cabinets and flooring make the perfect recommendations for our home. She educated us on the various options and cost, and was never pushy or a hard sell. We decided on the Powerview Rollershades throughout our home. In the bedrooms we went with the Duolite Shades (still powerview) but with the amazing room darkening option. It’s the best night sleep ever! Once we placed the order, there was a slight delay in getting the product, but we were prepared for that with other supply chain issues, and it wasn’t Diane’s fault. She was wonderful about keeping us informed about when they would arrive and ready for installation. When we had an issue during the installation, Diane quickly resolved it, and came out personally to inspect the work. Her installer Kary was on time and professional. He made sure everything was working properly and that we knew how to program and operate the Smart system from our mobile phones or the remotes. He was so friendly, patient and helpful and made sure everything was perfect! Diane is wonderful to work with! Upon the recommendation of a friend, I called Diane for an insurance estimate. Our house was in pretty bad shape with severe smoke and water damage from a lightning-strike fire. Her estimate to replace our window treatments was thorough, detailed and professional. She really helped to bring a sense of sanity and hope to our devastated mindset at the time. Diane has a quite a variety of fabric and hardware suppliers from which to choose and some great ideas (both on-site and on her website), several of which I had her implement. To accomplish a couple of rooms, she did send me to a design center (which was quite overwhelming) but helped me narrow my options so we could stay on-task. Her attention to detail and ability to visualize the finished window from just a fabric swatch is a joy to behold! Our project took some time to complete due to reconstruction and the myriad decisions that had to be made. For every appointment and installation I knew I could count on her being there and taking care of every detail and any issues that arose. Through it all, Diane was patient, thorough and the consummate professional. She delivered a beautiful, well-crafted product (within budget); and we're enjoying our "new" home more than ever!!

I have used Window Designs by Diane for numerous window design projects in my home. I have been beyond pleased with the results!! I am very happy with how 'dressed up' my windows look, making those rooms look complete. Window dressings definitely make a home look warmer, more beautiful and inviting! Diane is a very creative person, and while working with her she came up with different design ideas for each project of mine, letting my tastes and budget be the guide, never forcing her own interpretation of what my home design should be like.
