Bobby is a first-rate architect and a first-rate human being. I emphatically recommend him to you - after working with him on three separate projects over eleven years. On one he added an entire floor under two existing floors in a home in the hills designed by Richard Neutra. It was a very delicate project that had to - and did -- feel seamless with one of the mid-century masters. He later designed a breathtaking pool and outdoor deck for the same house that feels like it was born there. We are currently working on a large addition and redesign in Hancock Park. Like most good design, his elegant solutions seem obvious but are impossible to think of yourself. He is always working - always there when you need him. He is impeccably organized, forgets nothing, holds your hand through the whole process of choosing structural engineers, contractors, materials, whatever you need. Even his rates are reasonable. I've never once questioned a bill in 11 years. Personally, Bobby has an equanimity, kindness, and integrity that are exceedingly rare. He is both an extremely talented architect and an evolved human being. Construction is so hard. You will doubt every decision you ever make besides hiring Bobby.

I can't recommend Bobby enough. His ideas were insightful and spot on. He incorporated our "wants" into plans that when completed made our house not only visually beautiful but beautifully functional. Not only was his overall design perfectly suited for the extensive remodel of our existing house, his help extended down to the decisions needed for the small but important details on lighting, hardware etc. that finished the project. Recommendations for those were thoughtfully curated by Bobby making the process so much easier.

Conrats to Bobby for creating a luxury home in Brentwood that not only has amazing interior flow with properly scaled rooms, but drive-up appeal that brings one graciously from the street through the motor court to the grand front door and into the soaring 20' high ceiling reception with wide passageways leading to the public rooms. He has mastered the feel of intimacy in this sprawling 9500 sq ft estate, connecting it to lush gardens with cozy recesses for one to escape, relax and reflect During construction, he was readily available to answer questions and provide details as needed either directly to one of the trades or in a group meeting. The immediacy kept us on track and on time as we built the house.

My husband and I recommend Rees Studio without reservation. We had a traditional California home built in 1939, and needed to remodel it entirely, without changing any of the exterior walls. Bobby was able to transform a dark, dated, maze-like, non-sensical floor plan into a light & bright, sleek, contemporary home. He has incredible vision. Bobby is competent, ethical, efficient, and extremely easy to work with, for both the homeowner and the contractor. Bobby made what is usually a nightmare for most homeowners a breeze. I cannot recommend Rees Studio more highly.

As a general contractor, I am used to bidding on a lot of different types of plans. Unfortunately, the average plans lack sufficient foresight, clarity, and detail to make a fully accurate bid. Bobby seems like he was a builder in the past, because he has already thought out all of the details and has included them. The reason that this is important is because the client is not surprised with a last minute decision or change order for going over an allowance. Taking time to think about all the details not only saves money and headaches, it allows me to focus on building the house and the end result is a better quality product. In the case that my clients do not have plans yet, I refer them to Bobby because not only do I know he will do a good job, but it will make my life easier!! I can't recommend him enough.
