Alexis Long is an abstract-realism artist who's love of painting started at an early age. Inspired by her surroundings, her first desires to create came about from the fashion trends she was exposed to by observing her mother and aunts. Absorbing the essence of the powerful femininity of the women around her, Alexis often imagined herself a worldwide fashion mogul & would play CEO of her own fashion empire. Running board meetings at 8 years old came as natural to Alexis as beautiful brush strokes. She grew to be inspired by her fathers love of drawing and painting and soon her creative energy began to manifest itself on canvas. At 16 years old Alexis created her vision for "Project Window", a piece inspired by artist Nasir Jones' song with the same title. This piece won her the U.S. Congressional Art Award, it was her very first time submitting one of her visions for the world to see. Her next decade of creation would be limited by her longing to become the first college graduate in her family and her desire to birth the strong business woman she emulated as a child. Little did she know, this creative hiatus would birth the love energy that would ignite her visions once again. After marrying her college sweetheart, Alexis birthed her first child, a beautiful daughter, who would immediately spark in her the need to create again. Within one week of being home from the hospital, she created her first piece in more than a decade. We invite you to share in her journey. Welcome to Along Artworks!
