I am a Cuban-American artist living in NYC. I love to make indoor and outdoor living spaces beautiful and vibrant with my artwork, whether it's on the floor, wall, or in a frame. One of my specialties is mosaic art. The style in which I work is called pique-assiette, which means broken china in French. Working with china, opposed to just tile, gives me many creative options such as textures, designs, dimensions and colors. It doesn't mean I don't use tile, however; I use anything that speaks to me and makes the work more appealing. I create mosaic artwork on the floors and walls of homes, businesses, and gardens…wherever the client wants it. I also create many custom pieces using client's broken heirloom china (treasured family pieces that can't be used but have no practical use anymore). My work also extends into the public spectrum where I create mosaic murals in community gardens and gathering areas. Another specialty of mine is found object assemblage and sculpture. This area of work is more contemporary and has been recognized and shown in galleries, museum exhibits, and philanthropic arts organizations. Many of my clients purchase these types of work for their homes and private gardens. My work is highly reminiscent of my home in Cuba…full of color, life, and movement and it is my passion in life.
