Barombi Studios

Barombi Studios is a Chicago-based ceramicist specializing in handmade, functional stoneware. Created by a former designer, Barombi ceramics focus on modern organic pieces, with a versatile and relaxed feel. Inspired by world travel, minimal elements and appropriations of African tribal designs often emerge in the work. The name itself, Barombi, also originates from a small village in Cameroon, West Africa. Barombi ceramics are wheel-thrown in small batches. Each piece is formed, bisque fired, glazed and then fired again in an electric kiln. The result is beautiful, food safe, dishwasher safe, oven proof and stain resistant ceramics. Each piece is beautifully unique by its subtle variations and glaze striations.
