Eroded Earth

Eroded Earth was created to remind us of the elemental phenomenons that create life. Out of the dark depths of the center of the Earth comes the mystic nature of humans and all we surround ourselves with. The alchemical wedding of bliss and decay is our inspiration for Eroded Earth. The lost land of Atlantis, Aleister Crowley’s Book of Thoth and The Merry Pranksters are a few direct influences for our designs. Too much ceramic work ignores the grittiness of the human use of an object. We seek to pummel the pleasing perfection of modernist tropes to create object-artifacts to live with. We are Miles Votek and Caitlin Denny, two filmmakers and artists from San Francisco now living in the high desert of Yucca Valley, California. Our mission is to eventually build a ceramic tomb for a public archive of lost and forgotten film + video art. For now - we are Eroded Earth. We are not potters. We are hand-built ceramics with a history.
