James Goodwill

I own several works from James Goodwill's "Union" series as well as one of his earlier photo-montage pieces Goodwill's eye for color is at once vibrant and sublime and his compositions are balanced and distinctive. Some of his work has an awkward yet harmonious sweetness while others can be more subtle, contemplative and zen like. There is a lot of motion present in his work - either created by the subtle play of color within shapes or in the composition of the shapes themselves. His work seems very simple, but it never bores and always invites the viewer in to participate. What's best is that it is fresh and vital.

I have one of James's older pieces; it's 4'X4' Art Deco collage that is stunning. It's been in 3 of my NY apartments over the years and it fits perfectly in each one. A gorgeous work and always a conversation piece.
