Rustic Resonances

Welcome to my rusticresonances shop on Etsy. As a former Washington DC urbanite, who has no interest in the fast-paced combative lifestyle within the Beltway, I’ve fallen in love with rural life and society, especially its pace. After living among cows and sheep in the Scottish Lowlands and sheep and more sheep (and a few penguins) in southern New Zealand, I moved with my wife and family to a small migrant agricultural community called Immokalee at the edge of the Everglades in Florida. (Check out a recent documentary on the town if you’re interested - it’s called Food Chains.) In all these places I’ve become especially attached to the sounds of hooves through thistle and brush and the clanking of bells on animals, barn doors or porches. In the midst of a modern world that is constantly speeding up, the chiming of bells has always been a constant reminder to slow down, to disconnect myself, and to remember that human beings predate this technological age. Sorry. Got a little philosophical there. Won’t happen again. :) Since I can’t ship live sheep on Etsy (I think), I wanted to sell something that can provide you with a little taste of rural life - to bring it into your homes, your porches, or your gardens wherever you are living. Hence the bells. All bells are 100% handmade from 100% recycled iron. So have a look. All bells come with a 14 day free return window in case you are not satisfied.
