Alex Alzugaray and his crews from AAA Florida Contractors did a phenomenal job transforming a family member's dilapidated 740-sq.-ft. condo in Aventura, FL into a stunning space for us to enjoy as 'snowbirds.' Doing a gut renovation from 1,000-plus miles away is never easy, but from the moment we shook hands with Alex (who was highly recommended by a Realtor) and then walked him through the 50-year-old apartment and outlined our objectives, we knew on day-one that he was the right GC for us. Over the ensuing months, Alex proved our instincts correct. To begin, he expertly navigated the intensive permitting/approvals process with the city of Aventura, as well as secured all necessary approvals from our HOA. Most importantly, he truly listened to our ideas for the design, came up with innovative alternatives when what we wanted was not financially or structurally feasible and, when necessary, effectively played the role of ‘couples counselor’ when my fiancée and I disagreed on certain aspects of the project. Communication was excellent, with calls any time an issue arose, and project update photos regularly sent. In the end, the transformation was remarkable, with family members who knew what the condo looked like before saying the place was ‘beautifully unrecognizable.’ Beyond the quality of the work, Alex and his crews were always on time (actually, he usually shows up early), and downright nice, honorable people who were always ready to ‘go the extra mile’—including willingly taking care of any issues we brought up during our final inspection.
