Appetite for Construction Inc.

I recently hired Appetite for Construction, Inc. to remodel a bathroom in my vacation/party house. The job involved the demolition of all existing fixtures and flooring, installation of a heated flooring system, tiling the floor and shower, and the installation of a new vanity and toilet. It is important to note that they listened to what I wanted, and they delivered. Mike and crew arrived on time and were total professionals throughout the entire remodel process. The cost of this work and materials was very reasonable and the quality of the work was outstanding. Mike performed the critical detail work himself. Special care was taken with the heated tile floor. He painstakingly made certain that each tile was placed in the optimal location to maximize the differing textures, colors and patterns for the best overall effect. All phases of the remodel were conducted in a manner to ensure durability as well as aesthetics. In addition to the bathroom remodel, the Appetite for Construction crew built a specialty deck, and completed the entire installation of my hot tub. I give Appetite for Construction my highest recommendation. All projects were completed on time, within budget, and the quality of the work and materials were excellent. I hope to bring them back soon to remodel the second bathroom, kitchen, living room and game room.

I couldn't be happier with Appetite for Construction and the work they did for us. The People: One of the main reasons I'd recommend Appetite for Construction was the team. Mike is a very honest and clear communicator - we never felt talked down to or like we were being upsold. Mike, Justin and the rest of the crew were extremely personable and respectful, which was important as they were in our home for multiple months! They took extra care to keep things as clean and neat as possible, and were flexible with our schedule and needs. The Work: Mike and his team did a complete renovation on our main family bathroom, renovated our behind the garage bonus room, and updated a kitchen and second bathroom. Mike helped us through the design process, guiding us and offering ideas without being imposing. He was clear and open as we uncovered issues in our 100+ year old house, and offered appropriate solutions without pushing for unnecessary work. During the project the team tackled every aspect of the construction, from demolition through carpentry, dry walling, plastering, plumbing (including full bathroom installation), electrical rewiring, flooring, detailed tiling, and finally painting and finishing. He and his team did work to a very high standard. The guys are excellent carpenters and plumbers. We chose floor and wall tiles that were small and detailed, and they were installed with care and skill, and we now have the bathroom we always wanted. We are extremely happy with the way everything turned out, and now have a much more functional and pleasant home.

Mike of AFC built out two cafes for me in SF, about 6 years apart. The cafe builds were very different, one was more of an extensive remodel, the other was building out in a brand new shell, new construction. Mike was great to work with on both projects. He's competent and resourceful with a wide network of subs. Both builds turned out really nice, and Appetite was a key factor in the results. I no longer conduct business in SF because it's such a horrible place in so many ways, but if I had another commercial or residential project that I needed a contractor for in the Bay Area, Mike would be my first call.

We had a grand plan to completely reimagine our back patio, with new tiled patio, pvc decking, wood hot tub, boulders, and new landscaping! We love to incorporate designs that are a little unique and out of the ordinary, and Mike and Justin (and all the other crews) helped us bring everything together into a beautiful, tranquil oasis! Every phase of the job from demo to plumbing, electrical, french drain, concrete, tile, and the curved deck boards that evolved into a true work of art in our backyard, along with our rotating deck, all just came together so nicely! We would highly recommend Mike for any hardscaping jobs!!!

Thank Goodness we found Appetite for Construction! Our family was in the beginning stages of a major remodeling project when we lost our contractor to unforeseen circumstances. We panicked! Most companies were completely booked when we got a referral from a friend to given Mike (owner and general contractor) a call. That phone call started a one year relationship with Mike and his crew and we cannot say enough good things about him and his company. First of all he was able to squeeze us into an already very busy schedule of his, and despite being extremely busy we immediately knew we would be well taken care of. It's not an easy task to take over a project that had been started by another company. His strong communication and extensive experience working on remodeling homes definetnly showed. The transition was smooth and he was able to keep our original timeline and meet all expectations we originally had for the project. My husband and i were amazed at his ability to navigate working with the original sub-contractors that were already lined up to work. When Mike's crew came in to do parts of the project they were all professional, efficient and very easy to work with as well. Mike clearly has good established relationships with the building inspectors and is an expert in knowing all the in's and out's of the city's proccess. I believe only ONE of the inspections didn't pass (a minor change needed to be made), which allowed us to stay on time and ON BUDGET! Mike is also a designer in disguise. When getting to the finish work, he offered suggestions on how certain details could add better function but also better design overall. We were sold on his ideas and the execution and attention to detail was spot on. We could not be happier with how our project turned out. So much so, we already have future projects in the works.
