Blazek Construction LLC

Blazek Construction began in August of 2006. Nick Blazek, founder, and owner, decided to start his own company after approximately five years of carpentry and framing work. Nick obtained his contractor's license in 2005, built houses for the contractor with whom he was working at the time, and then decided to go on his own. Nick started in construction in 2001 in Atlanta. He worked for a high-end remodeling company that built additions, decks, kitchens, bathrooms, and basements. The company also performed a significant amount of custom work. The custom work is how Nick learned his carpentry skills. He learned how to perform trim work and mastered several other carpentry techniques as well. Though he enjoyed his work, he missed Chattanooga and decided to return home. He began working with a local contractor that specialized in home building in mid-2002. Nick worked on the framing crew and got firsthand knowledge and experience while developing his framing skills. After a year and a half, Nick was promoted to lead carpenter. In that role, he installed trim and built decks. After obtaining his contractor's license in 2005, Nick continued working with the same contractor. However, he was allowed to have more control over projects and built a couple of houses. Additionally, Nick's father, Mark, a real estate agent, told Nick that if he would build the houses, Mark would sell them. The experience gained on the job and the support of his dad gave Nick the confidence he needed to begin his own contracting company. After founding the company in 2006, things went smoothly until the recession in 2007. Nick shifted from a new home building to remodeling. Blazek Construction focused on remodels for approximately 5 years as the economy rebounded. In 2012, a customer for whom Nick had done a remodel suggested that Nick build them a home. That was the first Blazek Construction custom home. Thanks to word of mouth and proven quality, the company has been able to grow into one of Chattanooga's premier custom home builders.
