Don Thomas Construction has done several home remodeling/repairing/maintenance projects for us. In summary, all were completed in a superior/outstanding manner, and at an affordable price. Some special consideration for our situation was also deeply appreciated. Working with Don is a pleasure – he has superior communications skills and a depth of knowledge found in few other contractors, which allow him to make timely, valuable recommendations as to selection of fixtures, materials, and etc. for different types of projects, and to provide extremely accurate cost and schedule estimates. At least equally important is that we totally trust Don (and his employees) based on having several projects completed. Based on experience, we plan to have all of our future work performed by Don Thomas Construction. The following are the referenced projects for which the narrative might be redundant to the above summary, as well as between the individual project narratives:
Project # 1 was repair and remodeling of a bathroom to make it more accessible for an adult family member who has limited mobility. We had tried to get estimates and schedule the work with other contractors. Then we met with Don Thomas who correctly perceived our need, and redirected other on-going work for others so that two of his excellent workers could be dedicated to the project. Another example of consideration was that every evening the bathroom was returned to a condition that made it useful for basic functions over-night.
Project duration: First time to meet Don Thomas was on Monday, April 1, 2013 at 11:00am. Work was started the following day, April 2, 2013, at about 8:00am. Project was completed on Friday, April 5, 2013.
Cost: $3,252.00
Project # 2 was removal and installation of floor covering for two rooms and a hallway. Once again, superior/outstanding work was completed within the desired schedule, and at a fair price.
Project duration: April 15, 2013 to completion on April 17, 2013
Cost: $2,176
Project #3 Removed & replaced roofing shingles, flashing, and a little damaged wood for a fairly large house and a fairly large detached garage. Also installed was a new ridge vent system. The job was done in an outstanding manner with outstanding results, and at an affordable price. The roofing crew put in some very long days to ensure that things would stay dry when forecasted rain came. Don, the business owner, knows his business
very well, which allowed him to foresee likely needed repairs, recommend use of superior (but affordable) materials, anticipate the proper amount of time to schedule for job completion, and make an accurate cost estimate. He is also a likeable guy, but this
outstanding assessment of his work is not based on that likeability factor because in my humble opinion, some customers tend to base a good part of their feeling about how well a job is done based on how well they liked the contractor. Another positive attribute is that Don can be trusted in his business dealing. He was totally above board in interacting with us. Plus he has superior communication skills - he was able to clearly explain the needed work to us who have little knowledge of what the work actually entailed.
Project duration: July 29, 2013 to completion on August 1, 2013
Cost: $11,200
