Fine Design Construction

My previous review was short sighted. I didn't understand the bid timing or process totally. (First time working with a GC.) I am going to hold off doing a full review until we are done.

I hired FineDesign for a kitchen remodel. The project was in a 75 yo home and included moving a wall, removing a wall as well as reconfiguring the entire kitchen/dining space. The end product is amazing. This company is the real deal. Their work and professionalism are top notch. The project ran very close to budget ( as in a few thousand dollars). The time line was a little longer than expected but it was holiday season and a few minor issues arose as happens in all projects. Helpful hint: do not have a tight timeline when you decide on a sizable remodel. It is less stressful for you and not fair to the builder when the unexpected comes up-which it inevitably will. Jordan's design expertise and Tyler's building wizardry make them an excellent team. They never lose sight of making sure the end product is exactly what you want. FineDesign lives up to all of their great reviews and every day I walk into my new space I am beyond happy with the beautiful work that was done! I will use them again for my next project for sure!

Fine Design Construction did a great job finishing our 1750 sq. ft. basement--including 3 new bedrooms, a bathroom, laundry, living area, and cutting multiple windows. Jordan was great to work with. He listened well and respected our preferences; he also gave good advice when we needed it. Ty and the rest of the team were all very professional and did high quality work. They were flexible when we changed our minds; they fixed things if we weren't happy; they communicated well. We were very happy with almost every sub. The painter was excellent and took great pride in his work. The drywall finishers were great with the smooth ceiling. The electrician did really neat, nice work. The tile was laid perfectly. The cabinet guys matched the wood grain for the doors and drawers. The only sub we weren't happy with was the carpet guy, who gave us a bunch of samples that he didn't seem to have in stock. The project was completed a bit later and at a bit higher price than estimated, but I tend to expect that with construction, and I attribute it to: (a) the fact that it was a very busy construction season in Utah, and (b) we chose quite a few upgrades throughout the project. I never felt like Jordan or his team were trying to take advantage of us. They made clear what the costs were at every step and did quality work. They even came back a year later when we had an electrical issue and fixed it with no charge. I'm very happy with their work and would highly recommend them.

Fine Design did a great job finishing our basement. I am really happy with the finished product. The bathroom is fantastic and exactly what we pictured. We have a beautiful custom closet that we love. Everything turned out great, and they were very accommodating with the changes we wanted. Tyler and Jordan were both great to work with. It did take over a month past what we thought and sometimes we would go a week without seeing someone or hearing what was happening next. Overall it turned out great and the price was fair. We love our new basement.

Fine Design did a fairly extensive home remodel for us, including a new kitchen. Throughout the project we had some unique asks but they were handled with a willing-ness to be flexible. We were able to put our own personal touches on the design while receiving guidance when needed and the end result was really spot on with what we hoped for. Tyler, the main craftsman did great work and all of the sub-contractors that also came in seemed to be trusting, quality workers. Jordan, the head contractor, continually ensured the work was up to par and in line with our wants. In fact, on a couple occasions he had work re-done, despite the hassle. He’s shown to us that it is a priority of his to make sure his clients are pleased with the work that is performed. In the end, the remodel did take quite a bit longer and cost more than expected but all in all we are happy with how our home turned out.

What a great company! We love the way our home turned out. Jordan was a blessing! We definitely recommend him to anyone in need. You cannot go wrong! When we purchased a slight fixer upper we were so overwhelmed with what had to be done (e.g. the decisions, the money, the time, etc.). Jordan was able to help us figure it and not only got it done quickly but he did so without breaking the bank. When we need remodeling again we will definitely reach out to him and his crew. My project was to finish the lower basement of my 4 level split. From the beginning I felt really comfortable with Jordan and I felt like I could trust his judgment. His expertise and suggestions made me feel that he was the one I needed for the job. He was very personable, easy to work with, and he respected me. Whenever I had a question or a concern he was so willing to meet with me. He cared about the quality of the work being done and even had things redone so they would be right. I appreciated the way he supported me and went to bat for me when there was a problem with the permit. When a plumbing problem occurred in my home that had nothing to do with the basement project he was right there to help me. It was such a relief knowing that I could count on him to follow through and have his team correct the damage. Jordan's partner, Tyler, was also wonderful to work with and did an excellent job. He has a friendly and respectful personality and I enjoyed getting to know him. To be honest, I felt comfortable with the whole entire team . It was a pleasure to work with them and I wouldn't hesitate to call on them again.

Fine Design did a remodel for us this past Winter. We added on to our Kitchen, added a Family Room and Laundry. We also extended our Bedroom and added a sitting room in there, a walk in closet and a Bath. We are so pleased with the quality and design of our addition.

Fine Design completed a fairly large renovation on our home, including removing a (previously) exterior load-bearing wall to combine rooms, and adding two new bathrooms. We were set at ease knowing that they thought of our project as "not that big." They were very knowledgeable and we never had to worry that things would not be done correctly. The city inspections went very smoothly with slight adjustments recommended. Tyler (the foreman) was very respectful, even taking off his work boots when walking through any part of the house not part of the project. He also acted as a teacher to other guys on the crew, and reassured us that all work was double-checked and corrected if necessary. The project took quite a bit longer than expected, with initial estimate at 10 to 12 weeks, with the final project completed at 20 weeks, however, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year holidays happened during the project, and there was an unexpected load-bearing wall to remove - requiring an engineer report and consultation. Overall, we LOVE our new space, and they helped us get it. Outside of their own workers, all of the trades and contractors they used were friendly, respectful, and did good work. I commend them for driving to use in Salt Lake City proper each day from Lehi/Provo/Orem areas, sometimes working very long days to catch up on work. Most of the time, my husband and I were not able to be at home while they were working, and I never worried that things would be taken or damaged. BEST qualities: trustworthy, knowledgeable, and friendly Considerations: Project might take longer than estimated as they handle several projects at a time, and can generally only work 2 to 3 days per week on one project.

I have done 2 remodel projects with Fine Design Construction and I will do any and all projects with them. We did an office and a kitchen. They were able to turn my no door on it office into a masterpiece! When one works from home and has hearing loss, sound is everything. Fine Design was able to help us make the office more quiet by suggesting an outside door frame so sound comes in and they also built the most beautiful custom coffered ceiling. My kitchen is amazing! I had a vision of what I wanted it to look and feel like and Jordan and Tyler were there with ideas, suggestions, examples, and more. I didn't have the time to pick out all of the fixtures and details and they brought samples and ideas to me and I was able to pick from those and I loved it. I get SO many complements on my kitchen and we love to be in there as a family and enjoy! If you have any project, large or small, I would highly recommend Fine Design. We have more projects in the future and they are my go to guys!

Jordan is amazing!!! We were referred to Fine Design by a family member when we decided to finally finish our basement. Jordan's interior design abilities were apparent from the start as he helped us create the perfect space for our family. He was easy to reach when we had questions and any concerns where quickly addressed. The sub-contractors Jordan used were courteous, on time, and very clean. The final result was perfect - our family loves our basement and we use it all the time. We have continued to use Jordan for other small projects around our house and he has been wonderful! If we had to do it all over again, we wouldn't hesitate in hiring Fine Design.

The company is correctly named. Jordan made our original remodel plans into a finely designed addition. When Jordan came to bid on our project, he listened for many hours and walked our home with us. He suggested that probably our best option to improve space in the master bedroom and bath was to add an additional 8 ft to the house. Even though the project became bigger than we initially thought, we are more than pleased with the result of the beautiful master suite we now have, as well as updated bathrooms and extended laundry room. Because we at first were very concerned about the additional costs of increasing the scale of the project, he helped us to pick products within our budget and also helped us understand the pros and cons of choosing different building materials. I think we would have tried to do the job only with sticking with the lowest price on everything without Jordan. With Jordan's help we were able to make better decisions about when it would make sense to save money on one feature, so that features we most cared about would have the best quality within our overall price range. Jordan was extremely accessible and very honest. I was impressed by the quality of the work by his main team of workers. Once we agreed on the price, the costs varied little throughout the project. Any problems during the project and after the project were taken care of promptly. I would highly recommend Jordan and his team.
