TL;DR One year to create plans that were still incorrect when submitted to the city. Did not have me approve of the plans, either. Terrible communication and lied about key stage gates. I originally hired Kopp Construction to create plans and build a garage and living room addition to my house. We started off by signing a contract for the plans and permitting only, and thank gosh I did because I can't imagine how terribly the build would have gone. Just the drafting portion took one year. The woman they have on staff to create the drafts is embarrassingly terrible at it. The dimensions and layout were never correct, and when she would fix one thing, another would get messed up. Kurt, the owner, took over our project after a few months when they fired the contractor that was working with us. He was difficult to communicate with and missed many basic aspects of the home that affected construction and engineering. He lied and told us we had all engineering and would be submitting the plans to the city before the engineer had even started on our job. He told us for 4 months straight that he would get the quote to construct the project "next week," spoiler alert, "next week" never came. After a year, they submitted plans to the city before I had a chance to look the final draft over and approve it. They STILL had drawing and measurement errors, and they didn't submit a basic site plan. I ended up firing Kurt and submitting corrected plans through a different contractor.

Rude and unprofessional. We brought Kopp on when we wanted to replace our carpeted floors with hardwood. The owner was initially fine with me, but was downright dismissive whenever my wife would try to talk to him or point out what she wanted done (her father is a contractor and she grew up helping with the business so she knows her stuff). Sure enough, work was done poorly. When confronted with issues (politely) he became very aggressive. Do not recommend.

I (Kurt Kopp/owner) remember this vaguely, my estimater, not the owner (who no longer works for us) took this client on, has been short with some clients, I have not heard any issues and was unaware of any problems with the hardwood floors, if she talked to me directly I would have helped her out and would have done my best to fix the issue. We sub out our hardwood floors and use one of the best hardwood floor subcontractors in Oregon. I know first hand that if this issue was mentioned to me my sub would fix the problem. They Don’t show up on time, work one day then gone for two. Just all around poor customer service. Won’t use ever again. Project Started June, now it’s almost September still not done. What should have taken a month has taken 3 plus months.

They respected our privacy, time and property while working in often adverse, muddy conditions, and they got the job done in a timely manner, and it was on-budget! The level of craftsmanship they brought to this project was refreshing. It was very nice working with Kopp Construction, and we will definitely contact them again for our future projects. We couldn't be happier with the end product!

If I could give them no stars I would. I hired them to do a job last year, this year the project failed and they refuse to be responsible. Clearly shoddy workmanship. Hire someone who is credible and guarantees their work.

We typically do not do jobs under a $1,000.00. We also do not have you in our data base, not on any estimates or invoices that have been sent to you. I Kurt Kopp am the owner and if something failed that we did, we would make arrangements for something that failed to be fixed or repaired. I do not know who you are and have no recollection of this work being done for you. I also asked 5 of my supervisors if they know who you are and they all said "no". Please give me more details on the work we did or pictures so that we may be of service. I am truly sorry that you experienced this situation and wish you the best. We would be more than happy to fix anything installed incorrectly.

Kopp Construction Co. did an excellent job of repairing the two end beams and reconnecting the supporting beams on our outside covered area of our commercial building. I appreciate the time and effort spent to do the job in a way that we have gained another 20 or 30 years of life for our building. It was done to build to a new level rather than just “to fix it”. The crew was also very helpful and always concerned about making it work for those using the building."

The wheelchair ramp that I envisioned they were able to build. It was a kind of tricky situation in a couple of spots, but the builder was able to properly mesh the levels and make it just right. It is a great solution, and should last us a long long time. Thank you very much! Hope to use them again with some other projects over time.

Kurt and his team were fantastic. Everyone that we worked with was very professional, polite and collaborative. Kurt was very hands on throughout the course of the project and available to discuss any questions or modifications to the design. After more than a year of searching for a reliable contractor for several updates on our 1904 Queen Anne Victorian home, we were fortunate to find Kopp Construction. They were perfect. They showed up on time, completed the work on time, and on budget. They communicated regularly and professionally as the work progressed, and their crews were very polite. They left the house clean after the work was done. I plan to have them return in the fall for a couple of more jobs.

We hired Kurt to tear down our old house and rebuild our dream home. He did an amazing job managing schedule, the county permit process, working with us to find solutions when things came up, as they would on a project this size and to manage costs. He helped us store things from the old house and re-use as much as made sense. His crew was personable, great to work with and professional. We got to know everyone during the build and would definitely recommend Kurt for any construction work.

If you are looking for a partner to start long and often time painful journey of total remodeling of the old house, Kopp Construction Co is the right choice. This team is extremely knowledgeable, reliable and, most important, listening to the client. They helped us to create house of our dreams, preserving our own vision and tactfully suggesting best possible technical solutions for multiple issues unavoidably popping up during old house remodeling. Another important point: all unexpected changes to initial plan will be clearly communicated. Any required budget increase will be discussed and nothing will be done without your agreement, but just out of assumption that this is how it should be. The project was a complete rebuild of our master bathroom. We appreciated the professionalism of the people involved with the project and are happy with the final product. I do believe communication and planning could have been better but they improved as the project progressed.

When it came to a needed improvement on my home, I knew from start to finish that Kopp Construction would be professional and attentive to any concerns I had. They did not disappoint. They were professional, on schedule, and adequately addressed any questions we had about our project. Minor problems were readily resolved during construction and the finished work was accomplished with beautiful results! My hat is off to Kopp Construction. We will hire them again for any future project needs.

I hired Kopp Construction to build a tiny house. Their craftsmanship exceeded my expectations. They were patient with my husband and I and addressed all our concerns. The home turned out exactly how we wanted and they went the extra mile to recommend safety options for my elderly handicapped husband. I have used this company for other jobs and will continue to do so in the future if the need arises.

Kurt is very knowledgeable and was so easy to work with. He also had some great ideas for improving my home, especially the tile on my fireplace in the great room. Love how that turned out! He was always available to answer my questions and he closely monitored his workers and subs to make sure things were done to his very high quality standards. I'd absolutely recommend him to my friends and I'd hire him again should I build again.

Building a new house is tremendously exciting and tremendously stressful. Having the right contractor to help makes the exciting times happen more frequently, and the stressful times seem tolerable. Kopp Construction did a great job keeping our project moving along on time, within budget, and with very few problems. Kurt was excellent about communicating with us every step of the way, and the quality of the company's work is evident throughout our home. We would definitely hire them again.

I hired Kopp Construction as the lead contractor on the construction of a 14,000 sq ft private equestrian facility. Kurt Kopp is extremely professional and fair. I was disappointed in the quality of work. The work had to be redone. They charged me $2500 for a beam that they spent 200 on and it has a hole that goes all the way through it. It also took them 4 months from start to finish a relatively small job. They did not clean up the nails. I have had good experiences with them in the past but not this time. I did appreciate that they redid the work and were pleasant about it

Builder, I have worked with this client for many years and always strive to be on time and professional. The beam was a custom clear 100 year old growth beam with one knot in the entire 12' length. This knot was 3/8" and about 3/4 inch deep, the knot/hole was not a structural problematic knot. We agreed to fill the hole as per her request, my experience is leave the knot hole because a filler could hold moisture and damage the beam. The installation of the beam was part of a repair which included repair of existing rotten studs, rotten shear plywood, rotten existing siding, removal of existing rotten beam, replace old rotten beam, waterproofing, new siding installation, flashing and staining. The cost of the beam was $225.00 plus the above work.
We custom made a over 30 year old board which took about two weeks to have made that was inside one of the bedrooms almost a perfect match.
I recall the house was still in escrow when we signed our contracts and from when we could start the project.
We purchased and stained new siding to repair the cracked existing boards on the batt and board home. The new siding even though stained on both sides still cracked even with a floating nail installation for the batt to board installation, we replaced those free of charge.
Client asked for additional work to existing cracked boards and this took an extra three days for stain and installation.
I am truly sorry she feels this way and I appreciate Houzz for letting me explain the details of the project.

I had the pleasure of dealing with Kopp Construction here recently. I was extremely pleased with the professionalism of the team!! It is seldom you are greeted with a handshake and a smile. They were attentive to my needs, and they were definitely quick to respond! I was surprised at how fast they were able to schedule me in and conquer the task! Their work was second to none, by far met, if not exceeded my expectations! I recommend Kopp Construction for all of those in need of repair!

We found Kurt Kopp to be very knowledgeable and easy to work with. He listens to you and is always available either by telephone or in person. He made very frequent visits to the job site. We thought he showed very good "problem solving" ability. When you add on to an existing home, you often run into unique challenges. His years of experience proved very valuable as he has seen it all. His office always let us know the costs of things prior to doing the job. We appreciated the monthly billings as opposed to half down and half on completion. His workers were polite, clean and thoughtful. We would use him again.
