Lightyear Construction is a great company to work with. In a current booming Utah homebuilding market I feel like we received competitive pricing and a wonderful quality home. Matt spent the time with us over several weeks to design a custom house that our family loves and most importantly met our budget! Throughout the build process Matt never once came back to us to ask for additional cost increases or "change orders" which many builders commonly do. He stuck to his upfront pricing throughout the build process which was extremely helpful. Any change orders that were done were requested by us as we changed our mind on items throughout the build. Matt and Paige were helpful and easy to work with throughout the whole process. We were newbies with this being our first house build. Lightyear was good to deal with as we brought up issues we saw during the build and making sure these issues would get resolved. The house was completed start to finish in 6 months. We love and our happy with our new house and recommend Lightyear if you are looking for a homebuilder.

Notes on our experience with Lightyear Construction in 2020: First, Matt Milar provided a timely spectacular design of our custom home. He implemented our rough ideas and concepts into a functional and affordable design. He supported and guided us fully from our first introductory meeting through project completion. We say Matt Milar is genuine and comfortable to have as a business partner. Second, Matt never once pushed back as we reported our observations of potential non-conformities during construction, and quickly acted to resolve our concerns. His trade partners executed fine work, and were on time. Our project was unique as it was a partial rebuild, and Lightyear Construction took on all challenges. Overall, our experience with Lightyear Construction was superior and we recommend them with a high level of confidence to others.

Matt was good to work with. He is honest and has reasonable costs. In my opinion the single largest value that Matt adds to the process is his ability to do his own architecture design work while also knowing the cost of construction. Before working with Matt we wasted thousands of dollars sitting with an architect that had no idea what things cost to build. The architect drew up beautiful plans custom made to our specifications. We took those plans to builders to get bids and were blown out of the water with the cost. With Matt we were able to give him a budget; sit down and spend a few hours designing a house that we liked AND we could afford. Sure the house that Matt built was a bit smaller and less custom that the plans we paid the architect thousands for; but it is still great for our needs and is within a cost that we could live with. This unique approach saves time, money and you know rough costs up front. The house Matt built for us is great and we are excited to live in it.

Lightyear letter This is the third time that our family has built a home. Our experience with Lightyear has been by far the best experience that we have had. Lightyear construction has so many different house models to choose from. Matt the owner sits down with you and customizes house plans to fit your families needs and budget. Lightyear has more options to choose from (that are not upgrades) compared to other major builders. CC the interior decorator was so helpful in helping pick colors and styles that went together. Once we finished picking out what we wanted we were given a timeline of when and what would take place during the building process. Lightyear was on track and even ahead of schedule. We are so excited to move into our new Lightyear home after only working with them for six months. Yes that’s right six months from start to finish. If we ever build again we would go with Lightyear construction.

I wanted to build a custom home on a lot I had selected in an amazing neighborhood. I met with and reviewed several builders from quality, production, and safety. After doing some very serious due diligence, I chose Lightyear Construction. From the beginning Matt and his team were very attentive and involved with every aspect of the build from the initial design, which we made completely custom, to material selection and color schemes. I have been very pleased with the experience that took about 9 months from the inception to moving in. At the end, like everyone else I wanted to close and get in the house, but Matt took the time to make sure the punch list items were completed prior to close and did an exceptional job in closing out the project. I'm very happy with my experience and I look at Matt as a friend now and I will recommend Lightyear Construction to anyone I know who is looking to build a custom home.

If you want to build with a builder that cares, choose Lightyear. Matt, the owner, will be with you every step of the way making sure you understand the process, and are pleased with the job. He is a perfectionist and very professional. They both designed and built an amazing home.

When my wife and I decided to finish our basement, we went to Lightyear Construction because Matt Milar originally built our home several years ago when he worked with his father. We were pleased with his work then, and we have not once regretted our decision this time. Matt met with us at our home and discussed what we wanted, offering many great suggestions. Matt was the first to respond to our request for a proposal. He not only had a competitive bid, but he also included a drawing of the basement plan he designed for us. The other contractors who gave us bids had not taken the time to draw plans. Soon after, we went to Matt’s office to discuss some changes we wanted, and he was able to revise the drawing so easily with his computer program. It was very helpful to immediately visualize every change that we discussed. The team at Lightyear Construction went to work right away on the project. Any concerns we had during the building process, Matt addressed immediately. Lightyear Construction is a builder that does quality work!

My husband and I had recently retired from our jobs in the state of Washington and were moving back to Utah after being gone for 40 years. Our daughter and son-in-law have a home in Utah and we wanted to be closer to them. We looked at several builders and locations and we decided on Lightyear Const with Matt Millar. We had preferences on the style and floor plan and Matt was able to work his expertise to design a plan that fit our requests and desires. He listened to our ideas of what we wanted our dream home to be like. Matt made some suggestions that turned out to be great. He was very good to work with and we felt he was always willing to try to meet our needs. We settled on the plans and started to work with CC to pick out colors, designs and features we wanted to incorporate inside and out. She was always so willing to help and listen to us. She was patient and understanding when we changed our minds on some of the color and styles that we had originally picked. She was fun to work with. Like any major construction project, there were some glitches and misunderstandings during the construction but we were able to come to an understanding about meeting our concerns. John and Kelly were pleasant to work with and were able to fix most of the minor concerns within a reasonable timeline. Our home turned out to be everything we wanted. It is a beautiful home that we hope to enjoy for many years to come.

In 2015 my family and I moved from Houston TX to the Salt Lake City area. Once we decided about where we wanted to build we started out looking for builders. After find many nationwide builders we were more convinced that we wanted to go with more of a custom builder. We found Lightyear Construction while looking around and decided to stop in and talk about our options. We met up with Matt Miler of Lightyear Construction and after sitting down with him for a few minutes we knew he was our builder. We set our budget and gave Matt our vision. After a few days Matt had a great foundation on what our forever home would be. With only a few changes we were set. Matt was gracious enough to make changes on the fly to give us what we wanted. With our budget restraints, we understand that not everything we asked for was possible, however we got what was most important to us. Our home turned out great and ahead of schedule. Matt was able to deliver our home on budget and in the time frame we needed.

We just recently went through the process of building with Lightyear and it was a very good experience from the first meeting to the last. We lived in Stansbury Park before moving into the Lake Point community and Matt was very happy and willing to drive from Saratoga out to the Lake Point model to meet with us and go over pricing and some models he had. It is very infrequent that an owner of a company is so accommodating to people that may not buy one of his homes but his dedication and knowledge base sold us very quickly. From there on we told him what we wanted and he designed a full custom plan for us from scratch most of it right in front of us. He made adjustments as we went through the process making keen suggestions on things we may want a different way and gave ideas when we were stuck on things. In all of this he never tried to up sale us on anything or pressured us to do anything we didn’t feel comfortable with. From the time we started the process Deven was also very helpful with answering our questions before and after our designs were final and the build started. He worked very well with me personally answering my calls and questions sometimes well beyond the normal operating hours. Deven also worked very well with my representation and got any requested info to her very timely and wasn’t afraid to roll his sleeves up and come up with solutions when needed. All parties made it a very team driven process. Terry was very good our whole build about fixing anything that we had reservations about or anything we saw that was not perfect to our plans. He was very quick to respond to our calls and answer any questions that we had. Terry has been very responsive to our touch-ups and things that needed to be looked at after we moved in. Matt, Deven and Terry have been great people to work with and they are not afraid to tackle any issues that come up big or small. The whole team has been great to work with and very willing to go above and beyond. I would and have recommended them to several people.
