Marks Builders

Dustin and his crew at Marks Builders renovated my house last year. In short, they did a fantastic job, were honest, upfront, left things clean, and were there from start to finish without any notable delays. I have recommended Marks Builders to many of my family and friends, and they’ve all had great things to say too. Read on if you want the whole story! I had a leak in a wall between two bathrooms, above the kitchen. Just to set the scene, my wife was pregnant and we had a baby due 3 weeks after the start of the construction. My kitchen had a dropped ceiling and was original to the 1970s house. Dustin worked with State Farm (my insurance carrier) to bring the adjuster’s repair estimate up to a par. He and his team worked with us to order cabinets early (we were getting custom cabinets so they had a long lead time), then they gutted the kitchen and bathroom, raising the ceiling to 8’ (reworking the HVAC, plumbing, and electrical lines in the process). They pulled up all of the tile in the downstairs while we were out of the house (and in the hospital having the baby). We asked for a few days at home without construction when we came home, to which they agreed. They worked hard to make sure that the house was ready for cabinets when they would be delivered. The cabinets were delivered without issue and installed the same week, with the trim taking longer than any other single step because they wanted it to look just right – and it paid off! The finishing touches make all the difference! The granite crew came in and did their thing. Like all of Dustin’s sub-contractors, they were on time, professional, and courteous. They did their work well, quickly, and cleanly. We opted for granite counters and granite backsplashes, with different edge finishes in different places, corners, etc. to work around. They did it all well. Our kitchen looks fantastic, even a year and a half later. Through the whole 2-month process, Dustin’s crew was on-site 4-6 days/week, except when we asked for the break. We made a lot of changes midway through, and Dustin didn’t nickel and dime on the little things (moving an outlet, changing from a 2 gang to a 4 gang plug, etc). He was happy to work with my attention to detail (which can frustrate most people I know) and he did it with a smile – his attention to detail was similar. His crew was always fun to have around, and I never once worried about them being in the home, whether I was there or not. They worked hard to make sure we felt safe with them in the house at the start of Covid. All said, I strongly recommend Marks Builders. They’re honest, smart, hard-working, and fun people who care about the work they produce and their customers’ experience.

In 2020, I discovered that some of the siding on my house was rotting and soon came to the realization that my home needed a complete residing job, not just a partial fix. I was lucky enough to have seen the great work that Dustin and his crew did at my daughter and son-in-law's house on a different project and knew that Marks Builders was who I wanted to do the job. I was concerned about tackling such a big project during Covid, but Dustin and his men were very respectful throughout the process. He is so conscientious about all of the work that is done under his auspices and makes sure the customer is happy with the result. He really listens to suggestions, questions, concerns and always responds positively. He has great follow-up, even if it's about something I noticed several months after the job was completed. I love the new look of my home and have recommended him to others as a result. In fact, I know I am going to want to remodel a bathroom in my home somewhere down the road and I will not hesitate to call Dustin to get this next job done.

I would absolutely recommend Marks Builders. He built a large deck and a gazebo. The deck included built in benches along the perimeter, custom work around our spa and a huge step for our spa. Truly custom everything. We even have a tv under the gazebo and absolutely no leaks. He was always responsive, on time, had great suggestions to consider outside the box, worked hard within our budget, put up with my changes and crazy requests and continues to do so. His crew was respectful, on time and always cleaned up absolutely everything. He will continue to be the person we call with any projects we have.

Dustin and his team get a A++ from us. We recently had a patio/deck/balcony needing replacement and his work is excellent. From giving us a competitive and reasonable bid, to being responsive with open communication every step of the way, to quickly addressing small issues that arose even after the job was complete, we highly recommend Marks Builders and plan to use them for our next project.
