Matthew Douglas Construction LLC

In December 2018, we contracted with Matthew Douglas Construction to remove several walls and relocate displaced electrical outlets and switches, natural gas supply lines, HVAC ducts and miscellaneous plumbing in the kitchen and living room of our 1950's home. From our very first contact with Matt and Karie Engstler, we had nothing but very positive interactions. Matt was always prompt in meeting appointment times and kept us up to date with the progress of each stage of the project. His professionalism and knowledge played a significant role in the successful outcome of our remodel. Matt's attention to detail, specifically, project layout, demolition, structural reconstruction and final finishes is second to none. His experience and expertise was evident when it came to making recommendations for blending the new finishes with the existing. The job site was kept clean and safe during the life of the project. With the exception of a few changes we made to the project, Matt and crew completed their work on time and on budget. We are so happy with the finished product and the total experience working with Matthew Douglas Construction, they will be our first company to contact on future projects.

Matt and Karie are the best. They are a phenomenal GC/Realtor team. I would highly recommend them to anyone. Matt operates with the highest level of consistency and integrity. Karie is pro-active, engaged, accountable, and never loses sight of the goal. Anything is possible with the two of them working together! As someone with a real estate background I am particularly cautious about the lack of professionalism in the industry. We conducted due diligence with 10 GC's and I have worked with 100's of realtors over the span of 15 years. With so many things that could have gone wrong with our move, I do not take this recommendation lightly. In the course of 3 months, Matt and Karie helped us achieve the following - Tie up a phenomenal move-up home at a great value. - Close on it on time with lender funding in place. - Make improvements to the property to accommodate dogs on day 1. - Fix up our existing house to substantially increase market value. - Source a buyer before our existing home even hit market in the dead heat of summer. - Get the buyer to close within 30 days. For us, we needed our move-up program to be built for speed, and they completely accommodated us. Your needs might be a little different, but I am sure that they can help you out on your next home purchase just as well. They are at a minimum worth the initial call.

This is my first time using Matthew Douglas Construction, and I would definitely use them again. I have a 1926 bungalow with a small addition that needed work. The outside of the addition was in sad shape and Matt brought it back to life with all new siding and a door among other work that it needed. He also rewired the complete house to bring it up to code and added a new hot water heater in a new location, among other things. Matt and his crew did an excellent job and went above and beyond. The work was started on the date promised and finished on time, and on budget. It's great to find a contractor with such integrity who does quality work! I highly recommend Matt and his crew.

I cannot praise Matthew Douglas Construction highly enough. We have relied on them for a number of projects both large and small – everything from flooring, painting and electrical work in our house to a complete re-do of our yard and irrigation system. In every instance, they have been consummate professionals, always showing up when they say they will, communicating throughout the project, carefully cleaning up what they could at the end of every work day, and completing the job within the quote and time frame they provided. The finished work is excellent and meticulous in every way! It is such a comfort to know that we have such an ethical, honest, contractor we can trust to help us when we need work done at our older home. We would gladly recommend Matthew Douglas Construction to anyone. One of the first projects we had Matt do was in our back yard where the previous owner had landscaped using a series of concrete slabs that had, over the years, shifted and been lifted by tree roots from a tree that was gradually dying. The yard had become a dangerous, ugly place. Matt removed those slabs and the tree, replacing them with a beautiful ramada and stamped concrete. The pool area was renovated with stamped concrete over the cool deck and stacked stone on the low wall surrounding the pool. Narrow, dangerous steps up to a raised area were replaced with wider, safer steps faced with lovely glass tile. We are particularly pleased with the ramada which Matt suggested we consider instead of canvas “sails” for shade. While they are lovely, we have since realized that those sails easily rip free in our desert monsoon winds – a constant maintenance worry. After five years, our ramada has weathered all those storms easily and still stands strong. He also reworked the garden with an easier to maintain, more attractive desert landscaping, covered existing concrete in the east yard with stamped concrete to match that around the pool area and, while everything was torn up, replaced a sewer line that had been so poorly installed that it clogged on a regular basis. This project was a huge undertaking but throughout, Matt’s crew went out of their way to be as unobtrusive as possible, even to the extent of cleaning up as much as they could at the end of every work day. Matt and his crews were always knowledgeable, courteous and completely trustworthy. Thanks to them, a project that could have been a major stressor for us proved to be virtually stress free. This is my 3rd job experience with Matthew Douglas Construction and I couldn't be happier. When Matt says he will complete the job he means it!!! Not only have my projects been completed when stated, they were completed with precise perfection. Matt has a very detailed and artistic view. He goes above and beyond the scope and provides artistic elements that make simple plans into fabulous realities. Matt has just completed the scope of work for my Retail Bakery Suite and some unexpected issues came up. He resolved the new issues without question. I couldn't be more please with his dedication and work ethic. I recommend Matthew Douglas construction 100%. You will be lucky to have him complete your project.

I have used MDC for my home and have also seen his work on much bigger projects than mine. I wouldn't hesitate at all to have him do more work for me in the future. I have seen his work on both small bathroom remodels as well as complete house remodels and brand new construction. Finished projects are always impressive. And owners were very happy with final results.

We have been very pleased with the work done for us by Matthew Douglass Const. My mother moved in to a house that had been really let go and MDC was able to come in and really do a great job creating very functional and beautiful kitchen and remodeling a lot of things in the house that have turned it into a beautiful home. I am very impressed by their 'vision' when looking at a project and their ability to create something workable, beautiful and unique at the same time. We recommend them any chance we get and have quite a few friends that have used them in the past and are very pleased.

Matt with matthew Douglas const. did a great job on our kitchen remodel, the cabinets were beautiful and he even replaced our old galvanized pipes in the kitchen with new copper piping, when we moved the arrangement of the kitchen appliances. he had to cut the floor to move the sink drain to the other side of the kitchen and everthing came out beautiful, highly recommend.

Matthew Douglas Construction has done several remodeling jobs for me over the past 2 years, the most recent being construction of a balcony off the master bedroom and I could not be happier. The workmanship was excellent. Matt Engstler was able to take my ideas and turn them into reality. When he was through the balcony looked like it had always been a part of the house. Mr. Engstler also remodeled the master bathroom, enlarging the shower and putting in a clawfoot tub. The floors and shower were tiled with marble with granite details. Mr. Engstler is a perfectionist and he made sure that every aspect of the job was done to his exacting standards. All of the work Matthew Douglas Construction has done on my house has been completed on time and on budget by dependable and trustworthy workmen. I have several other improvement I want done and I will be hiring Mr. Engstler to do all of them.

Reliable, trustworthy, professional, accommodating, fair, high quality, customized finishes, attention to detail = all words I would use to described Matthew Douglas Construction. My project was an 8 month whole house remodel (3,000 sq ft, kitchen, 3.5 baths) and I interviewed a lot of contractors, but am so glad I went with Matthew Douglas. I don't know anyone that has completed a project of my size that still has good things to say about their contractor, but I would do it all over again with Matt and his team. We love our finished project...it turned out better than we ever imagined and Matt actually made the process exciting and enjoyable....almost unheard of in the construction business. Highly recommend if you are looking for a contractor.
