Hire Nightingale. This is the company you want to do your home renovation and can trust with your investment. We could tell the difference from the initial consultation and walkthrough. We bought a 1950’s mid-century home, but we needed to bring a lot of the home up to the times, so we worked with Nightingale to do a whole-house renovation. Our desire to maintain the original character of the house and emphasize some of its original beauty was embraced and supported by Nightingale. Everyone in the company is thoughtful and considerate. Alan Kraus is perfect at his job – he was detailed, patient, and thorough in helping us get on-boarded to Nightingale’s process and throughout the procurement process. He helped us feel confident in starting the process out by answering our questions, we had so many questions, and being available for any and every question/discussion point during the entire renovation. Claire Rowland is the only person in the world who you want doing your CAD drawings and laying out the specifications of your renovations. And she was so sweet to work with. Our confidence in the company remained through demolition, framing, drywall, flooring and tile, millwork, paint, countertops, and punch list. The whole process. And this was in large part due to the work and relationship we built with our project manager, Jourdan Robles. She’s a no-nonsense, get things done worker. She was clear in her communication, rapid with her responses, doesn’t shy away from having an actual phone or in-person conversation, nor in communicating un-expected items that arose on the job, which were always accompanied by a few options for resolution for us to consider. Nightingale always showed up, consistently, working hard and attentive always. The organization of all the details project and coordination of the many, many subcontracts was run seamlessly, which was all work that Jourdan did behind the scenes. We’d be remiss to not also call out the talent of Dustin Zentz and Joe Mullas in their millwork in our home – they built us the most beautiful, floor-to-ceiling, walnut wall with flawless hidden doors. Everyone on their team goes above and beyond your expectations – people showed up, people worked and completed their jobs, people communicated, and more – people did small things that made ALL the difference. Whereas some general contractors might say “oh, no one will notice this little xzy detail that isn’t perfect”.. Nightingale re-did work to ensure it was done with the highest quality. A couple examples – our very large, and very heavy kitchen island was placed a couple inches off from the drawings; we didn’t find out until it had already been moved to the correct place. A couple inches! Our freshly re-finished hardwood floors had small spots of stripper dropped on it and instead of leaving the small, barely noticeable spots (which would be covered by our kitchen table), the floors were re-done to perfection. We kept our original sub-zero refrigerator, despite the slightly finicky freezer door, to come to see the kitchen progress one day and learn that Joe fixed our freezer door for us. So, long story short, feel free to get quotes from other general contractors, but hire Nightingale to take care of your home.

WARNING - I had a "nightmare contractor" experience with Nightingale. Extensive delays, problems with some of the work, billing errors, and a disturbing stunt at the end of the project. Did complete renovation of master suite and cosmetic update of kitchen for $200,000. Smooth sales pitch promising completion of master suite in 4-5 months. Contracted in June, spent 4 months on material selections to avoid supply chain delays, demo on the master suite started in October, and became an unusable trash-filled construction site FOR THE NEXT YEAR. Tried to be patient and cooperative but ultimately had to get an attorney involved to compel them to finish. Here is key thing I would have wanted to know ahead of time about how this company operates: after dragging me through this incredibly negative experience, and in direct violation of their contract, they refused to complete the punch list work unless I signed a non-disparagement agreement. Then they aggressively threatened to lien my home if I held back the money to pay someone else to finish their punch list work. So despite paying Nightingale in full, I had to hire someone else to do it. Paid the extra money rather than signing their non-disparagement agreement because I was appalled by Nightingale's lack of integrity in demanding that I sign it, and wanted to be able to issue this warning.

After talking to several contractor companies, we decided to go with Nightingale for our bathroom renovation and are very happy with the results. During the design phase, Nightingale worked diligently to realize our vision, listening to our ideas and providing direction and suggestion when needed. Throughout the work phase, all the tradesmen subcontracted were extremely respectful of our house, the family, and were prompt, clean, and as minimally disruptive as possible. Of course, opening up walls in an 80 year old house was bound to uncover some unforeseen additional work, and Nightingale were both flexible in adapting the design, and quick to engage trades to cover the additional work. Also, the custom cabinetry is truly exquisite. A special mention must go to Jourdan, our project manager who went above and beyond. Extremely forthcoming and always available when it came to communication, it really felt like Jourdan acted as our advocate when it came to dealing with the trades and Nightingale in general. We would strongly recommend Nightingale to anyone considering a home improvement project. We will certainly be talking to them again when it comes time to do our kitchen.

Nightingale renovated our 100 year old collapsing carriage house and turned it into a fun and elegant entertaining/guest area. They provided skilled/high quality work and allowed us to be perfectionists while making sure every detail came out the way we envisioned. Jourdan, the project manager, was a pleasure to work with. She was always insightful, decisive, and organized. On a personal level, she was a pleasure to be work with and was always kind and cheerful; even when discussing obstacles. Nightingale has a great eye for design and quality, they collaborate seamlessly with the designers, and brought great talent/skill to the process. The combination of technical expertise and design sensitivity delivered beautiful and functional results.

I can't say enough good things about our experience with Nightingale Co. I think the most impressive part is how thorough they were and how much communication there is. The entire team was very thoughful and respectful during the process. Will was there almost everyday and answered any and every question we had and Steve, who's hilarious, was on the project from the initial waterproofing until the last little touchup was done. I think we actually miss having them around and would 100% use them again for future projects.

We cannot recommend Nightingale Co. enough! They helped us completely transform an empty addition on our 1970's house, to a beautiful kitchen, walk in pantry, and living space. We worked with their designer, Claire, and Chad to help with the layout, and they are both amazing. Claire made the process of figuring out the layout, electrical, and lighting way less overwhelming and beautiful. Our kitchen is much more functional and spacious for our lifestyle, as we have young children and love to gather in the kitchen. Our project manager, Jourdan, was also amazing and eased any stresses that arose. She was always available to answer questions, be here to receive material, and was able to be here to communicate with all the different crews that were in and out of our house, while also having other projects going on. We installed Nightingale's Weissworks cabinets and they are not only stunning, but very durable and well made. We plan to live here forever, and wanted cabinets we knew would stand the test of time and changing trends. Every crew and craftsman that came in were so thorough and talented. From the beginning of the process, everyone we worked with were so helpful, transparent, and communicative. We have plans in the works for another part of our house, and have no stresses or doubts going into another renovation with Nightingale.

Nightingale did a wonderful job on our full second floor renovation. From design, to the custom cabinetry, to the finished product, we could not be more pleased with the result. We especially enjoyed working with our Project Manager, Chuck, who went above and beyond on many occasions. We highly recommend Nightingale and will definitely use them for future projects.

We just completed a second story addition and a full remodel of our quirky 1980’s house. The Nightingale team executed our plan, and were agile and flexible to all of the challenges that arose along the way. Our project manager Chuck was simply the best. He stayed on top of everything, held the highest standards, and communicated with us constantly. Sometimes the timing could be frustrating, but the subcontractors were top notch and always polite and very professional as well. We also used Weissworks, Nightingale’s in house cabinet shop, for all of our cabinetry, and could not be more pleased. Our house turned out beautiful and most importantly, functional. We will call Nightingale for any future projects.

The remodeling of our 100+ year old house bathroom (converted half to full bath with shower) and guest bedroom is beautiful. Everyone at Nightingale, including subcontractors, were helpful, friendly, skilled, responsive, professional, and creative. The initial planning/design phase, final details discussions, making appropriate revisions, and receiving honest/friendly feedback along the way helped with our decisions. In the guest bedroom a small linen/storage closet was built, requiring a unique door for that limited space. Solution was a bifold barn-door which fulfilled that need and looks great. Recently had a need to replace a deck step light requiring some under the deck work. Contacted Nightingale and within a week arrangements were made to have someone out to our house. We are so glad we chose Nightingale for our bathroom and closet remodels. Their responsiveness and attention to detail right from the beginning was exceptional, and why we ended up choosing them in the first place. They have a very smooth process from project intake through completion, and we really appreciated the use of an online project management and billing system called Buildertrend that made it so easy to pay online and communicate updates with our whole team. Chris L and Matt M were our project managers and they went out of their way to make sure we had what we needed and the quality was what we expected. I would also highly recommend their in-house custom cabinet company, Weissworks by Nightingale, who made us the most beautiful custom vanities. You can't go wrong with Nightingale Co.! Our project was initially a complete gut of the kitchen, laundry/mud room, butler's pantry and powder room that eventually expanded to include new paint and beautiful new hardwood floors throughout the entire first level, replacement of all the interior doors and updates to our double-sided fireplace. All the custom cabinets for our job were produced by Nightingale's cabinet shop and the quality is truly unbelievable! We have done other projects where once we signed a contract we were assigned to a Project Lead and never heard from anyone else in the company again. That was certainly not the case here! While our Project Manager was excellent and all the contractors were very competent, the rest of the Nightingale team all the way up to Chad, the President, remained engaged throughout our project. The entire team was focused on making sure everything was completed to our satisfaction and nothing was considered closed until every expectation was met. While they listened to input, their extensive knowledge of what would work and what wouldn't was also key in helping to nudge us away from making some decisions that we now know would have decreased our satisfaction with the end result. The design and execution of the entire project was excellent, and we could not be happier with the new main level of our house!

This is the second project completed by Nightingale for me. This first project was an enclosed front porch and this latest project was a large first floor master bedroom. I hired Nightingale after the success of the first project and wasn’t disappointed. Everyone from the subcontractors to the city inspectors constantly praised Nightingale for their attention to detail and craftsmanship. The entire Nightingale team was outstanding. Chad and Chris handled the initial planning while Chuck Bitner was assigned as my project manager. Chuck was everything you could ask for in a project manager. He kept me informed and worked through issues related to timing, cost and scope changes. Chuck would stop by daily to check on the progress and communicate with the various subcontractors. He did whatever it took to keep the project moving forward. He wasn’t afraid to pick up a hammer to lend a hand or run to the local Home Depot to get building materials to keep the crews working. My friends, family and neighbors were all impress with the finished bedroom. The new bedroom is completely integrated both inside and out with my old history house. This seamless integration was important to me and Nightingale delivered. Everyone's first reaction after seeing the finished project was WOW!

Nightingale is an amazing company that took my 1922 Bungalow to a whole new level. The quality of the workmanship is 5 Stars. The crews were respectful and I enjoyed having them on site. I elected to live in my home with a major kitchen renovation that included a new basement and work in the dinning room. For those of you who have ever lived in your home thru a big renovation it is important that you and your contractor are on the same page. And we were! Having a gutted kitchen one week before Covid got serious was not ideal, but Nightingale made it as painless as possible. They made sure the work progressed and always kept us in the loop. They use talented tradespeople and we always felt like we were in good hands. Our refinished floors look better than we ever thought possible and the tile was installed meticulously. Our project manager, Matt, was detail-oriented and always on top of whatever task/question/concern we had. We’re so pleased with how it turned out. Beautiful, functional and everything we dreamed. We had worked with Nightingale company in the past (see Diana's review below). We hired them to entirely finish our basement which included a large rec/family room, hallway, new bathroom, and office. Matt Marchesi was our main project manager and did an excellent job communicating with us as the project moved along. He also ensured that (within reason and subcontractor availability) that our project moved smoothly, which took a big burden off our shoulders. The project was done on time and we are very happy with the space and value this work brought to our home. Highly recommend for anyone who wants attention to detail, good oversight, and high quality craftsmanship in their home.

We could not be more pleased with Nightingale. Professional, courteous, extremely easy to work with. Ours was a complete house re-do; total update and renovation. The house is unique and required a lot of imagination and skill. These guys were excited about the challenge and responded enthusiastically. The results are amazing. Nightingale Co. is simply the best contractor we have ever worked with. We have now completed two extensive whole home renovations on two 100 year old homes with this company and can honestly say that the quality of workmanship is unbeatable. Both houses required extensive planning, reconfiguration and updating. The final results are beautiful and custom - unique to our homes. As parents of two young children we also really valued the schedules and timelines they provided. Having project managers like Matt and Chris to communicate deliveries, scheduling and nuances of installs was a real gift to us. We never had to worry about the work being done, someone not showing up to work or unanswered phone calls. We are always heavily involved during the renovation process and it was refreshing to find a company that embraced that level of client input and teamwork. Every single person we have worked with at this company is knowledgeable, hard-working and kind. At the end of these projects we felt like we had the beautiful spaces we had envisioned, and gained some new friends too.

We recently completed our second renovation with Nightingale and are very pleased with the results. Our first project involved an addition and this project was a major renovation of our 1920's home. Chad and his entire team were a delight to work with as always. Their attention to detail, excellence in communication and understanding of design trends make them the best! Our project manager Mac was delightful to work with on this project. He communicated regularly, was excellent at problem solving and worked to keep our project on time. We are already looking forward to our next project with Nightingale and continue to refer them to all our friends who are in need of a contractor who strives for excellence.

We hired the Nightingale Co. for our master bathroom + closet renovation because I could tell a lot about their values and work ethic even from the early stages of just getting an estimate. Chad responded to my initial inquiry in less than one day, and was always very organized, focused and responsive in our early communications. Transparency, honesty, accuracy, efficiency and professionalism are not just buzzwords when it's our family home and our money at stake, and the Nightingale team really understands that. During the initial stages of figuring out the estimate, scope and design, I worked with both Chad and Chris Nightingale. Then the project was managed by Matthew Marchesi. I appreciated their professionalism and open lines of communication throughout the project. Even when a few curveballs came, what mattered to me was that these three men (Chad, Chris and Matthew) were always honest and responsive. They were patient with my questions and their expertise was very reassuring to me. I also appreciated that Matthew made sure that work was being done almost every single day of the three-month project. We were absolutely dead set against having any glass in our shower and I had this very blurry vision in my head of a contemporary bathroom with partially tiled walls and an entirely tiled shower (no glass with our hard Rochester water!), and this team made it a reality. I loved the Builder Trend interface and took great comfort in tracking the progress of the project that way. EVERYTHING is accounted for in Builder Trend, and as an attorney who is married to another attorney, that level of transparency makes us feel very secure and content. I also have to praise their subcontractors; they really assembled a great team to transform our bathroom. I got the impression that their subs enjoy working with Nightingale, respect them and are treated well by them. Matt Nowicki did the tile and his attention to detail is second to none. My husband has practically made a sport of spotting new patterns and repetitions in the bathroom tile that we didn't notice at first. I cannot overstate how perfect and precise the tile details are! Matt Nowicki is part artist, part mathematician, and we are going to be enjoying his rare breed of perfectionism for decades to come. Anthony Volenti and Madison Kauzlarich from the Nightingale Co. also pitched in as needed throughout the project. Anthony has a lot of talent and pays attention to detail, and he put the finishing touches on the bathroom with a high level of craftsmanship. Madison was an A+ communicator and cheerfully, patiently answered every single question I ever shot her way. This is the first renovation project we have ever undertaken, and I was initially wary of the idea of having people walking in the door and coming upstairs in my house every morning for three months. But the team was so professional and respectful that it was surprisingly not bad at all. They got to know us, our children and even our cats as time went on, and we never felt uncomfortable or intruded upon. Our only problem is that now the nicest room in our house is this master bathroom! When the time comes to tackle our main floor, I wouldn't hesitate to hire Nightingale again, and I would hope to have Matthew Marchesi as my Project Manager again. We hired Nightingale Co. to renovate our dated kitchen. We did our research before hiring, but it was clear after our first visit that Nightingale best understood our vision and had some creative ideas to make that vision happen. Our experience with Nightingale could not have been better. They are the utmost in professionalism, down to the timelines, approvals, budget, etc. There were no surprises along the way. We met every single trade before we began the project, which was so helpful as we knew exactly who was working in our home on any given day and we had already met those individuals. We hired Nightingale Company to renovate our kitchen which eventually became a renovation of our entire main floor. We renovated the kitchen, pantry, two half bathrooms, new hardwood floors throughout the main floor, replaced the dated fireplace mantel with beautiful floor to ceiling stone, gave the staircase a facelift, and a new front door. These guys came in and worked very well with my interior designer. I feel like I had my dream team. They created a dream living space for me and my family. Pros: Attention to detail, high quality workmanship, easy to work with, made sure I was happy with the end product. They made a schedule from start to finish so I knew what work was being done and when. In addition, we did this project over the holidays which wasn’t easy. When it looked like we may not have a functioning kitchen by Christmas they pulled out all the stops and did everything they could. The two days before Christmas Eve it felt like every trade was in our home at once. Electrical, plumbing, appliance installers, etc. Our project manager didn’t leave until everything was ready so we could have a working kitchen for Christmas. Cons: There were times when the project seem to be going very slow. There were days that no one showed up to work and I had to call and ask why. Our project was completed a month later than was originally on the schedule. Maybe it was because we renovated over the holidays which is a particularly demanding time for home improvements and some trades took the time off. There was also some confusion during demo over an area that was NOT supposed to be demoed in an effort to save money. We ended up having to pay to have it reconstructed which was frustrating. All in all, we are very happy with how everything turned out and we love our new space. We definitely would recommend Nightingale Company to anyone and would use them again.

I had zero doubts about my decision to move forward with Nightingale Company for a $100K+ renovation of a 1950s home. They were very communicative during the contracting process with my bank. They responded to every question that our mortgage officer had about the complexity of our project. Before our project began, they put together a very detailed contract so there were no gray areas. I was able to follow along with the project through their web tracking platform to know exactly where my money was going and where we were at in our project. I was actually very shocked that we were able to stay on budget. I could have saved even more if I didn't make some upgrades on selections ;). Even though we had some hiccups early on, Chad and our project manager Matt always had a detailed understanding of what the issue was and how to mitigate it. I never felt left in the dust. Our project manager (former military) had the best "can do" attitude. If he noticed a bit of concern from me, he immediately tried to understand it and find a solution. I always knew he had my back and intently cared about my happiness. Chris walked me through a lot of selection choices and gave me very informative information from something as small as pocket door hardware. He is always cheerful and willing to answer any ridiculous question of mine. They partner with the best in the industry and I would never hesitate to refer them to anyone. I would work with them again in a heartbeat!

My husband and I hired this company to remodel a small bathroom. The problems started immediately and lasted throughout the project. We were told that we could select our own plumber and during the project another plumber showed up that couldn’t put together shower/bathroom fixtures properly, then decided to walk off the job for several emergencies. Several times during the project there staff changed and we ended up with a very jr person that had never tiled before doing our bathroom. The project felt like it was very disorganized and there was zero sense of urgency to get something done properly. Nightingale co. refunded $1500.00 to us and decided to lawyer up and not finish the project properly. We ended up hiring another company and our own plumber to rip everything out and redo the bathroom. List of items improperly installed: Pitch of niches were pitched inward, thus retaining water Pitch of shower floor - water wasn’t draining properly - their solution was to put so much grout down that weeks after they were gone the grout started to peel and we had a large ziplock bag of it. Shower tile was not cut even, there were visible edges in the shower not aligned properly with the other tile.

I have used Nightingale for many different projects over the past few years. They've done painting, custom closets, repairs, basement remodel & installation of a half bath during the remodel. They are really professional and do a fantastic job. I felt listened to when I expressed my ideas and the end result was exactly what we discussed/expected. I really can't say enough great things about them. You won't be disappointed!

The Nightingale team, starting with Chad who estimated the job and made recommendations on approaches, and Mike who managed the multiple subcontractors, were knowledgeable, worked with us to schedule and execute quickly and to the highest standards. Indeed, we knew some of their very good subcontractors who we had hired before but they have been swamped so we could not get them to quote our job. This company does a lot of business with them, and was able to get them to get our job into their schedule.

Our family was very pleased with the work done by the Nightingale Company. We embarked on a three month project and on a daily basis there were moving parts in regards to the massive overhaul of the main floor. The Nightingale Company were able to orchestrate all of the different projects ,i.e, plumbing, drywall, tile, insulation, HVAC, etc, and give us the beautiful end result that our family anticipated. Even more important than the actual project was their ability to accommodate our family during this supposed stressful time. We have two small children and the company was able to keep the work site safe and even allowed us to have privacy while they were working on our home. In addition, the staff was very kind and respectful of our family and our house. We have already recommended the Nightingale Company and would indeed use them again.

Wow what a great experience! We really enjoyed working with Chad and his team. They helped us achieve the look we were going for with their design help and their knowledge of where to find what we wanted. Chad, Mike and the entire Nightingale team were fantastic throughout the remodel of our master bedroom and bath. They were very helpful on the front end of our job with ideas on how to create the master suite that we wanted and were very transparent and organized about expected costs. Once the project started, they were extremely responsive to questions and were able to address issues nimbly. The level of communication is outstandingly professional. Nightingale made it all very simple and easy for us. It felt very collaborative and that the Nightingale team was truly invested in providing us with a great outcome. I was so incredibly pleased with how they managed the project - they were there every day - none of the disappearing act that we have seen from other contractors. They showed up when they said they'd be there and they worked incredibly hard all day. They were conscientiously neat and cleaned up each day in such a way that it made living in the house while the project took place no problem. I work from home full time and saw first hand the hard work and dedication of the on site team every day. The guys are personable and professional and were a pleasure to have in my home. Perhaps most importantly, the work product is outstanding! Between Chris' carpentry skills and Matthew's painting, they built us the most beautiful paneled wall feature and built-in dresser. Matthew is an artist - he was able to mimic the natural pattern of the marble in our shower in painting the fan trim so that it disappears into the marble. It's incredible. Chris heard my desire for an electrical outlet in an odd spot in our vanity cabinetry and figured out an ingenious solution. My kids think "Mr. Chris can fix or build anything!" We also love that Nightingale has a technology division. The media package they were able to provide us just finished off the project wonderfully. We love the technology they set up for us and are so grateful for all the time Chris N. has taken to make sure we understand how to use all the features. We look forward to our next project with the Nightingale team and I recommend them wholeheartedly. They are top-notch in all ways.

Nightingale Co. exceeded our expectations! As a realtor and investor, I have worked with several contractors and subcontractors. From past experiences, I had very little faith in the industry as I found myself managing each person myself to ensure the work met my (high) standards.
