I contracted with James Otis to remodel the main level bathroom and add a new bathroom and closet on the 2nd floor of my 1930s home. James is a knowledgeable, meticulous, conscientious, and hard- working one-man construction company. This was my first experience with a major remodeling project. Being a “word of mouth” contractor, James understood this. He developed a separate written proposal which included an itemization of material and labor cost estimate for each of the main level and upper level bathrooms. James provided the necessary insurance papers. James made every effort to work within the initial budget providing suggestions/recommendations on quality fixtures and other materials. His suggestions also included having blown-in cellulose insulation to increase energy efficiency which was completed through a Mid-American Energy approved contractor. James was always present when sub-contractors worked on electrical, plumbing, insulation, and other additions. Electrical wiring in the basement was fixed (a previous contractor or DIY bad quality work). James would not proceed with the project until he got an electrical, plumbing, and general inspector approval. James worked through the cold winter including weekends to ensure the project progressed and was completed on time as proposed. I could not have been more satisfied with the finished projects. Both bathrooms have been well used this summer. The closet area has added a much-needed storage space. An unusable attic on the upper level is now converted into a functional bathroom/closet. I highly recommend James for a remodeling/addition project to your home. I look forward to working with James on other remodeling projects.

His critical thinking skills set him apart especially in the remodeling business which is never a round peg, round hold opportunity. He is resourceful, very well informed and very hard working.

We hired James Otis to remodel our master bathroom. We were very pleased with the progress & loved the end result!! We told him our budget & he worked with us to stay within that budget. He educated us on options so we could make informed decisions. He is knowledgeable & trustworthy & we enjoyed working with him. His goal was to make sure we were happy. I replaced a dated wood stair railing with rod iron. The job involved piecing into an existing wood floor. James was very easy to work with. He had good ideas and was very thorough. It turned out exact.y how I had pictured it. I was very happy with his work.

James did a great job for us ... in fact we loved what he did in one bathroom so we hired him to do a second bathroom as well. He was able to do all work on a gutted bathroom -- even built a little privacy wall in it. Did a great job with tiling, plumbing, carpenter work. Best of all he didn't leave a mess -- every night he was picked up and when he was done it looked great. If I decide on any other home improvement projects (not just a bathroom) he will be the first guy I call.

James was rehired for a second project this year. Rebuilt two outdoor decks for us. Great on the job problem solver!

James did an amazing job on our master bathroom. He had great ideas to make it big and open. He took a hideous blue bathroom and turned it into a gorgeous bright bathroom. It feels and looks like a resort spa. It's great to feel like you're on vacation every time you walk in. He really knows what he's doing!

Otis Construction installed our porcelain tile flooring on our entire first floor as well as several other small projects around our house. They are very professional, meticulous, and do a great job! I would highly recommend Otis Construction for any home improvement project.
